Isn’t he. You don’t last that long in the NRL unless you are one hell of a physical specimen.
Because nearly all NRL forwards are big you tend not to notice. However, and no offence here, when you put them next to Jordy Crowther then you do!
People become the loss of Batch for example but put next to Proctor, not really in the same ballpark. I actually think Batch will go on to be a really good SL player, but he can never be a SR like Proctor.
We have lost Fifita, Miller, Arona, Tupou but on paper at least their replacements in Atoni, Langi, Proctor and Tafua look just as good if not better. Of course only time will tell if paper translates to grass.

I’m pretty happy with the side on paper, I think we’ve recruited really well, added to the players we’ve already got I think if we gain confidence through the season and don’t have an injury mare we will go good. Really looking forward to the Halifax game to see Proctor have a run out. I remember us signing Glenn Morrison who was knocking on and turned out to be an absolute cracking signing for us. As stated before, we haven’t had the player of Proctors credentials in the last 30 years, I’m hoping he lives up to them.

We have but not many. Solomona and Anthony Tupou were of similar quality though Sol was much younger. Sadly Tupou was a wreck, may have been a few more.
Thing with Proctor is that touch wood he doesn’t come with any chronic injuries that we know of. He’s probably past his best but he’s still potentially up there and SL might just suit him.
If JD recommends him to us as a reliable player that will do for me.

Thing people seem to be forgetting about Proctor as well is, he was actually playing first team NRL every week right up to his sacking, even if you put aside his vast experience and leadership (which I think by the way are the two biggest attributes we need in the squad) how many genuine NRL first teamers that are playing week in week out sign for SL clubs? I can`t think of many, granted he is knocking in a little.
Tupou, I was excited about but it never worked because as you say he was crocked, I was never annoyed by the player here as you could tell he was giving us everything he had for the team, Brian Smith placed so much emphasis on just getting him in, we probably didn`t even think about a medical at the time. Crazy to think, he actually went back and played a few games in the NRL the year after!

He played one brilliant game against Catalan I think, and it showed what a class player he was, but he just couldn't replicate it. Not his fault, he'd basically recovered from an injury akin to a car crash, but he never got back his full fitness sadly.

| The only unknown is how dedicated he is. Although he is a more solid player than Fifita, he's a bit of a wildcard off it, it would seem. I used to wonder whether his conduct was because he was at the Gold Coast so never expected to win anything, so focussed on enjoyment. We are similar.
Having said that, a happy Kevin Proctor should be a good Kevin Proctor, so maybe one of those players who have to be given a bit of slack to get the best from them.

He wasn’t he had been benched/not in the match day 17 for a while he wasn’t playing in the match he was silly enough to post himself vaping on social media.
Think he had only started about 4 games when he was sacked which was mid season I think round about round 20.
His form had fallen away quite drastically and his attitude was also questioned by supporters and management at the Titans hence they sacked him when they had the first opportunity to do so.
Justin Holbrook is a big disciplinarian coach and he seemed to clash with Proctor who then took his ball home a bit.
I’m not saying that is how it will play out at Wakey but I think it’s important to manage expectations. He is a gamble, all new signings are, but he is a bigger gamble than most. He has a ban for use of cocain that would have seen him out of the game for 2 years in SL and a ban for biting too.
If he comes with the right attitude and willingness to play then I’m sure he will be a great asset. He’s clearly been a wonderful player for most of his career and a leader.
I think a move to SL will be great for him particularly Trinity as he will be a big fish in a small pond and I think he seems to like that.
From what I’m hearing so far he has started very well which is obviously a positive sign.

How is a one year deal even remotely gamble. Let’s be right here, he’s not on big money and it’s for a season, I really don’t get the negativity.
A three year deal on Titans money then maybe.
Let’s be honest, he could play in SL at 50% and look god, he’s easily the most accomplished NRL player in SL imo.

I’m not being negative just realistic and responding to comments which were not accurate.
I’m just stating a fact that he let himself and his club down in the last couple of years at the Titans and his form was poor most of which seemed to be reflected in his attitude.
I think being “the man” again in the squad (like Fafita was) will bring out the best in him regards his attitude which I’m sure will in turn into good showings on the pitch.
Hard to argue against Josh Maguire probably being the most “accomplished” NRL player in SL although I doubt that will make him the best.

Although a gnarly type of player, he was looking a bit battered by the time he left St George. I can see him picking up a lot of injuries, just because he's at the back end of a bruising career, where he punched above his weight physically for so long.
Proctor, however, has always seemed in great physical shape and perhaps playing at the lower end of the NRL has meant he hasn't been involved in as many high intensity games so is a little less knocked about.
I can see Paul Vaughn running riot this year, much more than Maguire.

Okay. So he plays the first 9 rounds of 22, 5 starts, 4 coming off the bench (which I don`t really see as a negative, as you seem to) goes of injured against Sydney in RD 9, I don`t have much info after that but you would assume he`s picked a injury up and not got straight back into the side at the drop of the hat, he`s then sacked in RD 19. I would still consider that to be an NRL first teamer more or less right up until the point we signed him but if you don`t, fair enough.

Agree regards Maguire that was the point I was getting at really that he’s probably the most accomplished NRL player over here given his Origin experience but I certainly don’t expect him to be one of the top performing Aussies in the league.
Not convinced by Vaughn either been on the decline massively and not looked after himself off the pitch either.
Both though will bring toughness and experience which again is the least I am expecting from Proctor.
If he comes with his head screwed on I’d hope Proctor to have a bigger impact performance wise than either of the 2 Wire lads.

I agree he looked busy and enthusiastic. It seems he will be sharing the 13 position with Crowther. Looks good to me, just needs to get his match fitness back.
I’m surprised he isn’t playing second row though and learning a new position but he went well at 13 and we have Ashurst, Tanginoa and Pitts who can play SR.
If he can give us a strong first 30 and a strong last 15/20 or so I’ll be happy with that.

It’s like everything in the modern game, what exactly is a 13 these days? He’s basically a ball handling middle and when what he’s doing doesn’t work Crowther will com on and do something different.
I don’t claim the tactical knowledge of a coach but I do know most positions are fluid these days.
I mean Whitbread, what is he, anything you want it seems. For me only Ashurst is an out and out SR the rest could do almost any role.
So Proctor to me is just Proctor the forward.

Except Ashurst has played centre and hooker. I think hes as versatile as the rest.
Proctor is a big intelligent player. He will be able to play anywhere. If 13 is the best fit then great, but Mash said he'll also play wide sometimes.

When did he play in those position! I don't recall. Unless it was some emergency on the pitch. New level of pedantry even for you.
Also as ever you have an astonishing ability to create your own narrative, I never said he couldn't or wasn't versatile, he's just so accomplished in the SR why would anyone not play him anywhere else.

There was a block of around 5 or 6 games a couple of seasons back where Crowther started at hooker and when he went off, Ashurst moved from SR to 9, he went quite well actually. It was at a time where we had no hookers fit, I can`t remember him playing centre though.
I like the idea of Proctor at 13, a loose naturally gets there hands on the ball a lot more than a SR, Proctor is such a quality player that I imagine we want him to have as much input as possible. Just re watched the game, I`m surprised at how slick Proctors ball handling skills are, something that he never really showed that much in the NRL from what I saw.
