If we've got a chance, why not go for him. I've no doubt there'll be plenty of offers from other clubs. I trust AG to do what is best for the club whatever the outcome.

Nature of averages. League in Australia has the pick of the athletes where as here its probably 4th or 5th down the list. The talent pool is so much bigger in Australia there is naturally going to be a greater number of superior players.

Not doubting that for a minute, but if a bigger tallent pool means quality players it also means there will be more people who are dross. Only got to look at chavball over here.

Since when have good RL players not been trouble anyway. They don't come much more troubled than Brough and there can't be many on here who wouldn't have him back in a heart beat.

I agree there are a lot of talented sports stars that are also trouble at times. Try and change them and they lose their edge. Look at a certain Rooney he's talented but trouble comes with the package same with Brough and other stars.

But who's to say that means he's trouble in the dressing room? He could be one of the most popular guys in there, just because he swears at camera's and possibly nails snatch whilst his wife is pregnant doesn't then mean he is a bad influence in the dressing room. Really turd players who seemiongly keep their noses clean could equally be a bad influence in the dressing room and we'd ever know it

IMHO this is a thread going nowhere.

I beg to differ - it's going to one of two places:

1. Gleeson signs for someone else and the thread is locked.

2. Gleeson signs for us, and a discussion about the relative merits of that signing ensues.

I think we should make every effort to sign him up if we think we have any hope of staying up this year.

At the end of the day hes a seasoned pro (a talented one at that) and we dont have many of them at the moment.

John Kears interview with the YEP (see other thread) would smack as hollow if we don't at least bid for Gleeson.

Mainly because getting the sonsorship papers through is only the first step. See John Kears interview in the YEP on the other thread. Realistically with the border control agency as they are it could be August/September before we could get anyone over anyway.

But don't let facts get in the way of you moaning about our lack of all things Australian!!

I was thinking the same thing; if the problem is that quality players aren't available, when they are, we should be moving mountains to get them here. Otherwise, as you say, Mr Kears words become just rhetoric.

I think it goes there, and that is why as far as WT goes, it's going nowhere.
From what I have been told, we are best of staying well away, I'm sure others know better, but that's what I've been told.
