If this announcement is to let us know that we're going ahead without Box and his cronies, I propose that we return the favour and spend all of next week posting on the Cas board with sage advice about what's best for Cas and Cas fans.

Doubtful; if WTW and Yorkcourt go it alone and tell Box and co to stick their land loan up their jacksies, the district will get a community stadium at no cost to WMDC. They'll withdraw all the land loans in those circumstances and Cas will be forced to share at NM.

Cas & the council will have known Wakey would pull a stunt like this, Cas will get the 4m from the council, or the original 2m at the very least.

And lets not forget, there's a lot of objectors to Newmarket so there's still a chance it won't happen, Walker saying the money isn't there now just the other week too.

If you seriously believe that WMDC would fund a stadium a few miles down the road from one that was being built at no cost to them, you're either bonkers or totally deluded; even Box wouldn't be able to get away with that one.

Lets just put it in simple terms for you:
Council ask both teams to share
RW knows Wakey will say no
RW tells the council this, they agree on a deal to put a new swimming baths etc up at Glasshoughton, which they were asked if they wanted last year
Council agree
Wakey continue to be utterly predictable and say they don't support the idea
No stadium at Newmarket because the money isn't there (Rodney Walker even said) and there's too many objectors in place.

In short, the land to borrow loans against costs the council nothing either, Cas stay in Cas, Wakey move to Leeds and no longer play in Wakefield at Newmarket.

Mine haven’t, Box is a Cas fan, and as such, will do his upmost to give his club the upper hand.

Remember this £2m / £4M isn’t a gift, it’s just a tool to borrow money.

What’s the situation regarding the Cas ground? Who actually owns it?

What if the Cas B.O.D. decide to share at Newmarket and the Directors sell Wheldon Road and ride off into the sunset, it would be a nice pay day / retirement fund.

=#8000FF1- Exactly, Cas would still get the 2 or 4 if Wakey go it alone because it doesn't cost the council anything, and they get top class facilities for the public in 2 of the 6 places they run.

2- Waystone/Cas joint ownership I believe, Waystone won't let it fail, and Cas certainly won't considering they just spent 175k a couple of weeks ago on architects, who in turn wouldn't design a stadium knowing it wouldn't happen.

Not that it ever existed. It was all a smoke screen put up by WMDC so they could appear to be helping both clubs on the back of the damming Oct 2009 report into the provision of sporting and leisure facilities.

As a teacher I will encourage my union to be out in the street if the council can provide money for an ungrateful eastern ward but not look after citizens who are being sorely underrepresented.
