| Yes, Jinger, it was.
I'm sure though, I do recall, that towards the latter part of last year, these plans, were scrapped.
I think, without digging up the past, this area would have been ideal.
I can't quite remember how the plans were laid out, but living in Thornes nowadays, I can't help wondering, what if, how could it all look now. I even look at the athletics track, and just think could all that have been developed round there. Can't quite remember, how the plans looked and exactly where the stadium would have been etc. Would be interesting seeing how the plans for it was designed.

Quote ="Jizzer"I'd have to disagree. That's what I mean, not everybody wants to go NM myself and a lot more included is that so difficult to understand.

Totally understand. We can nit pick all we like - the main question is what's best for the club in the long run. The argument is redundant as we'll never end up at Newmarket anyway (by the looks). Probably best off just leaving this one and respect the fact people have contrasting views, understandably so.

| If we lose fans who won't travel to the other side of the city on principal, then it's a sorry state of affairs and we get what we deserve. Do we want a new stadium or what?! I'm pretty sure measures would be put in place to help as many fans as possible to get there on match days. Anyway, Newmarket is pie in the sky. I don't believe for a minute that it will happen in my lifetime.

| I know it's academic, but we can say as a guarantee that things would not get worse at a better version of Belle Vue. It's almost an impossibility. The Salford experience suggests we cannot guarantee it at Newmarket.

| Should Newmarket happen, and those not willing to go in cars, how about the club, try to work with Arriva or local travel companies, maybe as like a partnership.

Yes it is - as is an altruistic gesture by 88M at BV, where he gives up land that would otherwise generate revenue, to ensure that the club has everything it needs. This whole thing is a stitch-up job, and anyone who doesn't see that is either unrealistically positive, or hopelessly naïve. WT will get the bare minimum - I guarantee it.

Unfortunately, I have to agree. Which begs me to ask the question (again), why have we aborted legal action....the only person that truly knows is MC. But understand if he can't comment

| I would have gone to NM (reluctantly) but BV suits me all day long and I'll be happy with a good enough job done to keep us in SL.
That does not mean I condone all the cheating that's gone on with this business and those responsible should be brought to task - but I think nothing will be done.
As for BV I'm firmly in the 'I'll believe it when I see it camp'.

Wasn’t it mooted that in return for mani allowing the redevelopment of bv he was to receive a piece of council land elsewhere for
Development..ie thornes park ?.

| Just a thought, but maybe a deal is that the land Manni gives up to redevelop Belle Vue is compensated by giving him land at Newmarket off York Court? That way the time pressure is taken off York Court a little bit and we can all move forward. Complete speculation on my part but I could see how it would help all concerned with the 2020 redevelopment target.

There has to be a deal somewhere that could suit all parties, the problem is I don’t think anyone trusts anyone else! I.e if we give them this will they do x ....

| All the politics and agreeing with, or disagreeing with, Belle Vue being the right venue or not, the fact is that 2020 will be upon us quicker than you can say Jack Robinson, so something positive needs to start VERY, VERY SOON. With the possible return to franchising being imminent the RFL will need to see some positive action!!!!

| Yeah MC says Manni is really pushing this along and wants the whole thing signed sealed and delivered by the end of the month, but MC hasn't seen all the details of it yet, which he says are getting sent to him in the next couple of weeks. He then says he will look at whats' on the table and make a decision. As long as it's a deal that makes it sustainable for Trinity for the next 100 years, plus also a good deal for the community as a whole, it's should be all systems ahead, As he says he has to wear two hats when he looks at this, one the owner of Trinity and the other as a ratepayer in Wakefield.
You can watch that interview plus one with CC on James Deighton's twitter.

Of course we do everybody wants a new stadium the main sticking point is where, many people myself included would like to stay at Bellevue given the choice but if it's NM then it's where it is and we move on, maybe we will lose a few fans for various reasons but I don't see principles as being one of the reasons.

| I don't think we'll lose fans per se, but individual games might cause problems for people, there's generally 4/6 that watch Trinity, sometimes I come on my own, BV in a taxi solo is £6, on my own in a taxi to NM would probably be £10/£12. I could drive but do enjoy the game as a social event, making an afternoon or evening out rather than drive up then go home.

If it was to ever happen we could also gain some new fans for various reasons, one being that we wouldn't be playing in an off-putting dump anymore and the facilities overall would be far far better. Swings and roundabouts.

I don't think so, we'd hopefully get more support in the long run because improved facilities would mean a lot more income from corporate etc, which would in turn mean fbetter finances which would hopefully mean trophies.
I've three mates who watched Trinity around fifteen years since who cite the wreck of a ground being the reason they don't come anymore, bull sheet, it's just an excuse.
Most away fans use the same sheet ground gag, it's usually cos they can't be d, I'd watch Trinity in any tip of a ground and have done.
Then again a new improved BV or NM would be more than welcome.

Yeah, I agree we hopefully would get more support in the long run & the short run for various reasons but I definitely think we'd get more away fans down to better facilities overall, making their match day experience all the better.
As for former fans who used to go who now don't, you may be right but I have similar friends who I used to go with and others I know who used to go who now don't and you can only take what they say on face value. All I hear is Belle Vue is a depressing place and their families won't come anymore.Obviously, hardcore fans will come no matter what but it's these who still follow Trinity in one form or another but don't come, a new stadium could make all the difference The test will be if/when we get a new stadium sorted will we see some old faces, plus plenty of new ones.
