| Quote ="Stanley Cat"As long as you segrigate fans you will get trouble. The north end has been the away fans area for god knows how long and Wakey fans have stood with them with little or no trouble. I would say no segrigation and let fans stand where they want and just think on before the north end had a roof on no one wanted to stand there except away supporters. I uphold the "family game" theme and segrigation is not the answer.'"
Have to agree, the segreagation idea was wrong. I stand where i have always stood on the Western terrace, if the the North stand became home only where would the away fans stand? Cas, Leeds Hull bring far to may fans, where would they go?
Another thing i do know is that i do not want to go into the North stand to stand among the drunken idiots who were intent on causing nothing but trouble as seen on Friday.

Don't see anything wrong at all with making the North stand for home fans, people have moaned for years and years about no atmosphere and that fans are spread all over the shop. IMO there would be no problem standing in the stand in the future, I truly believe it was just a one off, caused by a special set of circumstances on that day, the club won't let it happen again.
I'd be gutted if they didn't keep up with it because the atmosphere was absolutely electric until the idiots cocked it up for everyone.

this part from the club statement....
"Any supporters who witnessed any behaviour that they deemed unacceptable on Friday are asked to e-mail the club via info@wakefieldwildcats.co.uk and make the subject of the e-mail ‘Wakefield vs. Castleford’."
its just dying for someone to write in and mention the players......

| Looking at the Cas fans behind the sticks many of them looked too young to drink and to be honest there weren't that many plastic bottles lying around. I think it was just a case of fans getting carried away in the derby moment.

The bit in the RFL press release states the investivation will be looking at how the match was managed. I think the following will come out of this investigation:-
1. No more evening/night kick-off's for Cas/Wakey and Wakey/Cas games.
2. Bar's in the ground to close during the game.
3. A designated "away" stand at the RS Stadium.
4. A fine for not controlling the crowd's behavior.
Regarding the fine - we have had it at Cas Tigers. You don't get any warning. I think it will be between 20 and 40 grand I'm afraid. Ours was for a home game against Catalans. Plastic bottles were thrown onto the pitch. The big difference between the Cas/Catalan game and the Wakey/Cas game is that no-one was injured at the Tigers game.

... there were no Catalan fans there so Cas were fighting themselves and bottles were for the officials not opposing fans.
Disrespect of officials, i.e. RFL, is a much more serious offence.
I love a good RFL Investigation prediction, who do you think will get 'man of the inquiry' in this one.

Also a fine for both clubs so called fans shocking behaviour. Is your 20K fine still suspended?

| I really hope that any Wakey fans that witnessed the trouble on Friday contact the RFL and give them the real version of events. It seems a campaign to smear our name is in progress. People at Cas and a lot of Cas fans have been Email the RFL and giving them a distorted version of events, that everything is Wakeys fault and it was the Wakey fans throwing objects at the Cas fans, not both ways. They need to be told the truth or we are going to get the full blame.

The RFL have previously said the home team is responsible for the behaviour of BOTH sets of fans which is why only the home team will receive a fine.
Cas have reminded the RFL of this stance, and if they choose to ignore it further action will be taken.

Really? I can only imagine if this is the case some idiots from Trinity will take it upon themselves to cause bother at WR in the return fixture to land Cas with a fine.

Correct. The management (or should that be mismanagement) of the game is entirely down to Wakey. I know a few Cas fans who sustained facial injuries on Friday night. I have seen the photo's and they have been sent to the RFL along with countless E-mails and video footage from the game.
The RFL enquiry will also be looking at Glovers attempt to segregate the fans, his subsequent climb-down after Wrights intervention and the legality of selling tickets and changing the entrance policy.
The stewards report and Match Commissioner's report should make good reading - 38 kicked out of the ground apparently. A touch judge coined and beer glasses thrown from the Benedorn flats.

Incorrect.
The home team is responsible for the CONTROL of both sets of fans, BOTH sides are responsible for the BEHAVIOUR of their own fans. Otherwise as stated above, what is to stop any visiting teams fans starting a fight on the terracing at WR and getting you a fine whilst they get off scot free?
As the trouble, whether either side want to admit it or not, was instigating by idiots on BOTH sides then the outcome will almost definately be one of two things -
a) Both sides get a warning and placed on probation, with plans required to to prevent the situation happening again.
b) As above but with fines handed out to BOTH teams for fans behaviour and an extra fine for Wakefield for failing to control the crowd adequately.
I would imagine b is the most likely outcome.

Regarding other fans at games. There were a group of 8 Fev fans at the Wakey/Cas game last Friday. Not saying they did anything wrong but I know them and know they were at the game.

To be fair some Wakefield fans were injured as well. And they weren't all Wakefield fans kicked out either though were they? Both clubs will cop it for this incident as both sets of fans were to blame. Wakefield will get an extra carpetting because of the failed segregation issue and both CEO's will be asked why the whole pre-match issue was played out on club websites rather than discussed in person. Neither team will come out of it looking good and quite frankly neither should they.
Part of the problem is the pettiness between Elston & Wright, it needs sorting and now. Both are as bad as each other and need to grow up.

| I think the segregation was mostly to blame. It created far too much of an 'Us versus Them' atmosphere. It's no problem segregating fans at opposite ends of the field, but in the same stand...??? A recipe for disaster.

Not true, as pointed out by sixtogo.
You're at risk of getting dizzy if you stay up on that high horse too long; the situation at BV on Friday night was a result of several errors of judgement and some idiotic behaviour from a small minority of drunken morons - nothing more, nothing less.
Both clubs should receive a rap on the knuckles for their failures to communicate properly in the lead-up to the game. WTW made some hasty decisions but probably for the right reasons; Dickie Wright stoked the flames by making a statement on his own website that amounted to "We're Castleford and we'll stand where we want." Equally, the governing body made a poor decision to stage an evening match on a bank holiday.
Given WTW's previously impeccable record for crowd behaviour, I'd feel a bit aggrieved if we get a fine; sometimes, the best you can do when something goes wrong is learn from it, rather than playing the blame game.

Well it is true HTH.
Selling "general admission" tickets then making them not general admission is in fact illegal and false advertising.
