Correct, we're playing Hunslet ARLFC not the League One Hunslet RLFC. Some good players in their side but not one even our reserves would struggle against IMO.
Noticed ex Trinity Ben Shulver is a starting prop for them.
I think their halfback is related to Luke Gale too, basing on what some of their fans were discussing on social media.

| So a couple of things watching the game:
1. Play the ball - on the front foot (think end of first half) and Vagana gets a quick play. Ref penalises him and turns ball over for not playing ball correctly with his foot I presume. I replayed and Vagana (who was a bit miffed) clearly got up and tapped the ball back with his underfoot. I hope there isn’t too many of these and the officials are consistent. In a close game a turnover like that could change a game. Don’t get me wrong, I know errors are made and refs are human. I honestly think they have it tough with the rules and lack of support in technology compared to other sports. They certainly deserve respect but if they are vigilant on cracking down on the play the ball I hope we see some consistency.
2. Fitness - the players look in great shape. Hood looks quite trim and Uele from Boxing Day looks to have really put in the work. Atoni looks a bit more mobile too without compromising size. I think it’s testament to the set up and players as they’re clearly working hard on that. I really hope we maintain that throughout the season. But early doors I’m impressed.
These games are valuable in building up and running plays and this team is in its infancy. I’m truly looking forward to see what they can achieve if they continue developing together.
Looking forward to Newcastle.

I'm pretty sure he wasn't penalised for not playing the ball correctly with his foot, he was penalised for not regaining his feet properly. He half gets up after being tackled but doesn't competely stand up, his left hand is in contact with the ground as he puts the ball on the ground with his right hand to play it, that's an illegal PTB, no part of the body is allowed to be in contact with the ground other than the feet.

I heard that as well, telling whoever was on the other end of the walky talky saying tell them to stick to the plan.

| We've just watched the whole game and personally I think the criticism of Atoni is unfair...he made good metres with virtually every carry and got through plenty of work. The wife even said that she would have given him man of the match

Personally thought both were poor first spell. Intensity ramped up when they were rotated.
When they returned Atoni was very good, Cozza though fairly average for me.

Strange how fans see different things but thought Cozza was busy and Uele went well. That said with Cozza he looks more of a 13 than a prop looking at his style of play.

Have to agree he looked good and more athletic than I imagined. Can’t help but wonder if he’d make a cracking wide runner in second row with that frame of his. Looking forward to seeing the likes of him and Boothroyd develop. Boothroyd looks as tough as nails.
To be honest with Bain still to come in (and I believe he’s got a good offload in him) we have a cracking set of forwards this year.
Very exciting.

Seems the McGillvray injury is worse than first feared. Hopefully it’s weeks and not months.
Other than that Bowden good to go and Vagana may be ok this week (I‘d swap Boothroyd in tbh).
Nothing too concerning. Wonder who will get the nod on wing with Croft playing well there last week.

Todays interview doesn’t seem like there’s been any contact regards it so club are waiting I suspect. Looking at video I can’t see anything. If anything it should have been a Trinity penalty for Thornley getting a smack on the head which set it all off (not the first tap but the Siddal player who ran in and whacked him on back of head hard).

| Thanks Trojan, we've been used to finding out by Tuesday evening who's been suspended. I suppose that's another difference playing in the championship.

Possibly so, I would hope the club find out prior to Fridays team naming. I’m not sure what day championship disciplinary is reviewed unless it’s same day.

The match review panel hearings for Championship games take place on Thursdays but the bans don't come into place until the following week regardless of whether players accept any sanction handed out or challenge them (in which case the Operational Rules Tribunal hearing takes place the following week - I think on Tuesdays, but that might be wrong).
So if Lino gets, say, a 1-game ban, he would still be able to play this weekend, but will miss the Challenge Cup game the following weekend.

He reminds me a bit of Lewis at KR, always looking what may be on and happy to take on the line and plenty of guile.
Hopefully he'll have a good game on Sunday.
