What’s the cost of knocking down the current pile of ad hock buildings that are currently there, they look bloody awful.
The stadium would instantly look better if they were demolished and removed.
As I understand it SKY won’t use them anymore and I don’t blame them and there must surely be a fairly simple solution to hosting a camera over there. There are hundreds of outdoor sports broadcasts where they erect a camera tower

No point knocking something down to re build a similar structure. Best thing is to cover it with something similar to what Vasty has suggested to cover the void in the north stand.

I think we all agree the west terrace is in serious need of a revamp. We must also accept that the funding for this is not available. However the cost of making it tidy and either pulling down or tarting up those boxes would not be that much I believe.
I have said this before. Our ground will resemble a nice new built house with a few scrap cars and an old caravan in the front garden, if its left in its present state.

Nothing these days appears to be cheap, so I guess that to demolish and remove those old boxes and assorted crap would cost say 20k and honestly I really don't think I'm being OTT. We may be able to pull in some favours and get it for less. That 20k could be the difference between keeping say Shaw? I reckon we are as financially stretched with all the new stuff as we possibly can be without actually being overdrawn. So sadly even 20k is too much. I just think we are going to have to live with a ground in flux, until the new revenue streams comes on line and free up extra cash. Maybe the limited share issue JM seemed to be intimating may be a way to raise the cash to add some finishing touces, but as you and me know well, the response from the Wakefield public has not been great in the past.

It was an odd one this, I've actually posted about this one before, some time back. When I visited JM he was trying to explain the various options and one involved a system used by a football team that looked promising but he couldn't remember the name of the club. I then asked if he meant Maidstone and immediately he said yes.

I'm not talking out of turn as this was a fact finding mission.

What I don't want is anyone to think this is whats happening in any way. All I know is that the people who make the system have looked at BV and I assume it was feasible. No mention of quotes or anything as concrete as that.

The beauty of the system is cost and simplicity, it's as close to a flat pack stand as you can get, and one that actually fits in the limited space. It's relatively cheap. Much of the fittings are above ground meaning minimal foundations. It's basic, though nowhere near as basic as what's there now, but would do the job. It's tried and tested, I think a few have been done this way now.

My guess, in todays money, about 1.5 - 2 million to take it two thirds length as the current terracing roughly sits.

What's happened to the Wakefield fc option grants etc?. The yc deal still stinks leaving Trinity with one stand!! It could be 10 years and more till the stadium fully complete or never!!!

I think Wakefield FC play at Fev. Would be worth seeing if we could bring them back for 2024 and look if there’s access to grants to get the west side upgraded.

That what Vastman has posted would be idea for us on the West. Basic but smart enough. Would only leave the south and bottom part of north.

Is this something the club intends announcing in the future?
Just after the Salford away game last season I emailed the club regarding this subject.. I received a prompt reply which stated it was something they were looking into on the back of the new stand going up.while I’ve no idea about interest or how much could be raised I think it’s a good way to raise funds especially with the club heading in the right direction.

Apparently it was mentioned at the fans forum but I wasn’t there so don’t know the details. I’m waiting for it to be on Trinity TV

All it needs to be. I'd like extra height for the TV camara but then the cost goes up.

Just been looking back on the original deal, seems the estimated build cost for Newmarket were circa £8-13m, well for £1m less then the top of that range we get a stand and some upgrades in other areas of the ground rather than a complete new stadium. That's just shows what's happened with build costs over the past decade or so. So while we all feel short changed, the value of what we are getting isn't too far off, and most expected nothing from the charlatan so credit must go to Minards/Carter for getting the deal they did. Time has screwed us more than anything else

I think it would help if the porta cabins were removed and it was just an open terrace if nothing can be done

We are one of the few clubs that actually owns its own ground and we are getting a new stand it’s amazing truely

That is the standing terrace, they have a seated equivalent down the side and that has a gantry so it not an issue. Its east tall enough.

It is a shame but the money simply isn’t there for now.

Its very easy to get Stadium fever, I do. But at the end of the day the rugby comes first. We’ve made a start, a big start, but we need to turn our efforts back to the team.

I’ll happily accept a scruffy west terrace, if nothing else it pees off arrogant Saints fans.

I think one has to consider the work that has been done in the past few years (which included a business destroying pandemic and an economic meltdown) to take ownership of the ground and land and then manage the investment of a huge new stand… upgraded north bank … a new pitch.. new visual system … new floodlighting…

On top of that we have a high performing scholarship and academy set up … a young reserve grade team that made the grand final

Spot on. I simply can’t believe the progress we’ve made in the last few years. True it’s yet to show on the pitch but off the field it’s immense.

We are fundamentally a different club to what we were five years ago. We now have a pathway to a future instead of being a club waiting for its luck to run out. We’re not there yet but the evidence of a resurgence is visible.

I know a lot of people find MC abrasive and I get it. Sorry if your reading MC, it’s not my opinion but I can’t deny it is the opinion of a lot of people I talk to, and I try not to talk to idiots. However the man had a goal and that was to turn Trinity into a viable entity with a future and imo he has.

I salute that, I admire single minded people. Not all the time and not all of them but I do in this case. I like to think that if I ran the club I’d do the same, but I doubt I would, I’d get carried away. We survived Covid and we still are and I’m not sure any of our previous leaders would have managed that.

JM has bought a lighter touch but the principles are the same.

I can’t read the future, but what I do know is that now we might have one and only five years ago we didn’t.

I agree with all that Vasty and I'm sure many more on here do.
In the short term, the removal of the portacabins and tidying of the West terrace would surely improve that side immensely, until that side can be tackled.

Anyone know how the north is getting on with the makeover? can see from previous pictures there is activity going on but nothing about the re-surfacing from what we can see? surely must be soon

All I can see is that the old crush barriers have been removed. These are being replaced with new one on both levels if my memory serves me. Other than that I can't tell.

I'd guess the new concrete and steel framing for the North stand is the same as that used for the East, minus the seats, so will possibly arrive and be installed at the same time. Just a guess.
