Sounds about right, I got a replacement screen for a laptop to fit myself and it cost $100 from the US. Wouldn't reccomend trying it though, got myself into a right mess. |

Wasn't planning on sending it a birthday card, mate.  Just wondered if you were still coverd by any warranty. Probably still worth the repair if it's under a couple of years old. Otherwise, in this throw-away age, you may as well cut your losses and buy a new one. |

Yeah, i'll have to find out how old. Not paying £150 if I can get a new laptop for a bit more. Some on offer at moment too. |

Sell-by dates: Do you stick to them rigidly, or do you "trust your luck"?
If, for sake of argument, you had some very fine Scottish smoked salmon in the freezer that you'd forgotten about for several months (9 months, to be precise), and the advice in the packaging was "consume within 1 month of freezing", would you still defrost it and eat it 9 months later?
I'm looking at this as a kind of human experiment, but if you don't hear from me in the next week or so, and are interested in joining the moderation team....
