Thanks for that as I was going to ask how he went. Heard good things about him so looking forward to seeing him play.

The main players we was missing are Parcell, Garbutt, Ellis and Masoe who was effectively missing due to only managing 1 minute in defence.

Both teams struggled to break each other down and it was our first run out with an almost new team against a team on its second run out with few new additions.

No points to be scored by either after this one. Both need to improve in attack massively.

We've been there before. With so many new players it's a slow start for the attack so the preseason is really important.
I'm kinda glad we play you first as Rovers will improve as the season goes on.

How did Brough/Hampshire get on? Didn’t get to it yesterday as I went to Headingley.

Sorry but can’t agree on that.

I know friendlies deceive but it was clear one side was far more composed than the other and in truth, it was won at a canter by us, we only lost composure towards the end when a flurry of substitutions occurred.

As for attacking, we scored 3 should have been more but that’s not what this game was about, see what CC said.

What I do know is the first game at your place will see two very different teams play very differently and I’d read very little into what happened yesterday tbh.

As you would expect, it's difficult to read too much into these games as both coaches are unlikely to want to show their hand ahead of the SL opener.
However, Brough controlled the game pretty well and landed a great 40/20 and Hampshire was Hampshire, always looks lively with ball in hand and had a decent game - for me, he offers more than Miller but, you'd expect Miller to get the nod.
Walker had an excellent game (until he swapped for Jowitt) and Gwaze had his best game in a Trinity shirt.
Great to see Johnstone back on the pitch and Atkins, although nothing flashy, looks absolutely solid. Also a big shout for Josh Wood, who seems to hit pretty hard in defence.
Hope we've come through unscathed and also hope that the two KR players are ok, especially Mosoe who looked to have taken a really bad knock.

The main plus point was our defence, which was excellent.

A lot better IMHO, both played well and looked more comfortable together than Miller/Hampshire did on boxing day.

Only a friendly but I've decided I'd like to see this partnership more often as overall IMHO Hampshire is a more gifted player than Miller and I like Miller. However not at first, slowly slowly.

Just seen the news about Masoe having a serious spinal injury. Awful news.

Wasn't at the game so did anyone see how it happened?

From where I was it looked nothing as these ones often do, clearly, it wasn't and that's terrible news, hope he's not permanently hurt.

I thought he had a clash of heads with another Hull KR player when they both came in to make a tackle. No doubt it will be on Trin TV shortly.

I watched it back on Trinity TV a few times and the only thing I can think is that when his head goes into his own player, it must have been at an angle that has transferred the force of his own momentum down his back?

Anyway, desperately unlucky to come away with such a severe injury after that, hope they get him patched up.

Terrible news for Mosse and KR, you just hope that he can make a good recovery, even if this doesn't involve playing RL.
That the injury cam in a friendly, just seems to make it worse.

Just seen the news update from Tony Smith on Mosse that one of the artificial discs in his neck broke/came out which is just terrible news made even worse by the fact I've had to put my rugby playing on hold as I need 2 putting in my neck, and getting done next week. don't think I'll be putting my boots back on after hearing this news. I hope the guy makes as big a recovery as possible and can have some decent quality of life away from rugby.

Absolutely terrible news - as has been said, it seemed such an innocuous contact/tackle.
As well as donating to the crowdfunding page, I will be at HKR away and I hope they have the buckets out to be able make a donation on the night too.

I was debating wether to go to HKR but seems a no brainer now, devastating news , I know you shouldn’t think the worst but I will have it at the back of my mind every time Jordan takes the field. Just brings it home what a tough, hard sport we play or follow.

I can imagine it will be BLM.
