Handling skills are very poor, he never learnt to run behind the play and i think some of you will be shocked by how much of that pace he has lost. I seem to recall him coming in around 7th at this years floodlit's fastest man competition. Shame for the lad, too much time spent with Paul Cullen has ruined anything he had.

He can have my support and starts with a clean sheet.

It's not too important really, he's a close friend so I'm pretty sure it was reliable.

He did mention that he was expecting him to be cocky and full of himself but he was quite the opposite.

Widnes had Penny on loan last year. Different standard obviously so won't comment on his effectiveness, but his effort and enthusiasm were outstanding. Give the lad a chance.

Again Cudjoe... last week was the dogs nuts but he quite clearly has handling issues and got nowhere near a kick last night...cost them a try, but quickly swept over by the muppets on sky.....incidentally the pigtailed one was actually that frightened of a high ball that he made no attempt to catch it...

Best signing so far for me would have him instead of blanch anyday it was only 2 years ago he was the next best thing since slice bread. Great signing.

Just like what other teams did to Blanch last season. Atleast Penny has the pace to get across when their wingers get on the outside, Blanch wasn't quick enough to close the space.

I think KP is a gamble but one worth taking and at last we have some actual pace in our back line. Just hope we use it.....

while we know that he will be targeted by other teams we will have to compensate in other ways,
his speed has to be used to the max to get the best out of him or he is going to be another wasted signing,
my concern is that he doesn't jump out of position thinking he can intercept every ball or to tackle the leaving the wing open,
while he might not bring in the crowd name wise I'm sure he won't let the side down in effort

One thing for sure regarding Kevin Penny, since Tony Smith has been at Warrington he will have had better coaching.

Yes i have watched him defend mutley but i have also seen blanch defend for 2 years . At least penny is young and hungry and it will be great to watch him a speedster like him is allways exciting. I also heard paul cullen state we sent penny back to warrington because he was miles too good for our league i.e. NL 1.

If someone had suggested signing Penny just over a year ago, when he helped us beat Warrington at their place, I'd have been horrified. After the displays of the latter part of last season though, I'm more than willing to give him a go on the basis of that recommendation. Effort was distinctly lacking from our team last year. Combined with pace it puts him up there as a star of our backline.

I think this is good signing for your team. Of course he is going to be target by the oppo as the stigma around him defensively looks like it is going to be with him for the rest of his career but get him the ball in 1 on 1 or 1 on 2 situation & as Stevo says it will be T...R....Y......TIME!!!
