| Quote ="Slugger McBatt"He said he has given an idea to the council on how to fund a new Belle Vue, but they have been thinking about it for six months and heard nothing else. He made the point that a redeveloped Belle Vue would preserve the heritage of the pitch and all that has gone before it, with great players of the past.
I took that to mean that he says a redeveloped Belle Vue as the most viable option in terms of time, as he said that the RFL could pull the plug at any time.'"
It was a good show but you could tell MC was very frustrated (understandably) with the whole stadium issue. Pulled up short and didn't finish his sentence a couple of times when he was probably thinking "no I'd better not"

I know it's off topic but I saw a tweet from Allums Butchers today asking for help for traders in the city along with a picture of their desolate street, they offer a very sensible suggestion of a first 30 minutes of free parking.
Shame on the current leaders(I use this term loosely)of Wakefield Council for what our once great city has now become.
A £10million market hall that the traders were opposing in advance saying it would become a white elephant now being demolished for the princely sum of £3million.
If I call into Wakefield on a weekday on my own I actually don't feel safe anymore. Particularly when walking past the Cathedral and along the streets down towards Wilkos.
Don't get me started on the stadium debacle

| I seem to recall that the council had the Market Hall built for free by whoever did Trinity Walk.
The bottom of Kirkgate is a real dump.
Edit: Going way off topic here sorry but what's with the increase of beggers in Wakefield? Has a hostel or shelter been opened up recently...I noticed the Graizers has been turned it some time of dwelling but with steal shutters closing the doors off.

There were loads in Hull last night. Every time we made a tackle they were begging for a penalty.

Mind you, when it comes to begging for penalties, Huddersfield are way in front of the rest.
They literally wanted a penalty on every play, regardless of which side had the ball.
Also had to smile at Radfords comments about a second half penalty count in our favour in the second half but, he didnt seem to remember how many Hull had in the first half, along with the Jowitt sin bin.

I heard that
I also heard him slagging his own players off
Picking and naming individual players performances and mistakes
Shocking management
I've come to dislike Radford over the last few years
He was a grub when he played but is much worse now
Good managers should always congratulate the other team win or lose,
I have never once heard him do this, only say how bad his team was
He needs to look up magnanimous up in the dictionary

Do you watch the news?
"Last year, around 4,800 people were estimated to be sleeping rough in England. This is 15% higher than in 2016, and more than double the estimate of 1,800 for 2010."
I make no comment on the public policy landscape that underpins these figures, for fear of triggering those people who don't like real life things to impinge on their enjoyment of this forum.

| The title of the topic is 'Stadium', not 'Social Issues'. If I wish to discuss the latter I will post on the appropriate forum.

| I wonder if we had kept the same thread all of these years for the stadium fiasco if we would have beaten the post count on the famous "For the live of God,Allah or whoever-McDermott GO!!!" on the Leeds board.

I think the longest running thread I remember was 'CHRIS JOYNT VOLUNTARY TACKLE' got well into low hundreds.
However if we had kept the very first stadium post going and not kept starting up new ones we would have created a monster thread of many thousands of pages. Not only that the way the council still continue to dick us around I would say there are still thousands of stadium posts waiting to happen.

Maybe they're still here
Pop Tart has nothing else to do...rofl.... mebbe he could do a chronological stitch and merge job
on the other hand, I don't think this forum could handle a depression thread of that magnitude......and there probably isn't enough ones and naughts available on vBulletin.

| Not sure if anyone has mentioned this already but i have just stumbled across an new planning application at Newmarket around the back of Newcold for ANOTHER large warehouse.
Ref: 18/01169/FUL | Erection of warehouse unit (Bicon_cool.gif with associated access, service yard, parking, drainage infrastructure and landscaping | Plot 7A Newmarket Lane Stanley Wakefield WF3 4BU
Unsurprisingly the Client is Yorkcourt!

I think it's more evidence how crap Wakefield City is. By inference it shows how clever Box is.

Maybe it might atleast contribute to the stadium 'trigger point' they've been actively trying to avoid Council will let them build regardless until there's no land left at Newmarket

| The plans say the footprint of the warehouse will be just over 60000 square feet. Can anyone remember the trigger point? Although looking at the proposed location, i think it will be outside of the original planning app.

| 60000m2 is the magic number, however WMDC have colluded with the developer to set a precedence so there is no reason why they wouldn't do so again.

If WMDC do it they really do show their true colours. Wouldn't surprise me with Box in charge.
