| For me it's a couple of decent choices along with Richard Kelly heading up the youth dept we've got some decent RL knowledge/experience at the club off the field.

I am smiling.wakey have won 4 out of 30 or so games and we appoint the coach who was the coach of the team that lost 2 of those 4 games.yeah he got rovers to wembley but that was due to form of kelly they have more money to spend than wakey and still struggled.
Im not slagging mc off but really is a bad choice for me

| Quote ="vastman"Sorry mate but this sums up what's wrong with the mentality of Trinity fans and I know you're one of the better one!
I don’t know Chris Chester other than he speaks quite eloquently on interviews.
He has a one year SL coaching history which can only be viewed as mixed. He had a season average of 52% wins or 1 in 2, jeez what we’d give for that. He also got his team to Wembley on his first attempt so again not bad. That said he had a much team or certainly a better resourced one.
His only real error for me was not picking his CCup team on form instead relying on an injured player, that said Leeds were not going to be beaten by anyone on the day Sinfield and xxxx hung up their boots.
His dismissal from HKR seemed hugely premature by any standards. If the lad still has the enthusiasm and has learned lessons from last year he will be a better Coach second time around.
One things for certain, he knows the local scene which IMHO is crucial for a club like ours.
He also seems to suffer from a perceived slight against Trinity some years ago as a player. This seems to revolve around him rejecting a move to his home club whilst at Hull. Seriously can you blame him.
He may not be the coaching giant that Smith was but for decks sake can we just give him a chance before condemning him, for the life of me I can’t see what he’s done not to deserve that courtesy.
I know it’s nit the way of some on here who just seem to take pleasure in slagging off just about anyone who isn’t Wally Lewis. However doing so is utterly counter productive in my opinion as the choice has been made.
As for Carters decision, well at least he made one and he made it quickly and that IMHO is what was needed before the rot was allowed to set in any further.'"

| Welcome to the club Chris.....let's all get behind him as it's going to be a tough old season.
Will he have a few quid for players.....can we off load a few......will players want to come and play for him/us?
Happy with Kear too.....whilst in the Championship.....can he unearth a few gems or resurrect some fallen careers like he did with Wilkes, Bibey & Moore?

| Welcome aboard Chris Chester, local lad with SL experience, lets get behind him, the team and see how they go
Always liked John Kear, think he will do well in the role. Feel more positive after hearing this news today. Well done MC IMO. My glass is always half full but why not

| Not my cup of tea given his record with much more money at Rovers but still beggers can't be chosers and with Kear coming on board in a roll that will suit him perfectly it's probably as good as we could have hoped for under the circumstances.
Welcome aboard Chezzie lad, fingers crossed it works out.

| Happy with the appointment.
Having known Chester from our school days, always had a lot of respect for him for what he achieved in the game. I'm sure as a fan, he only wants what is best for the club and will do what he can to achieve it.
Good luck !
P.S. Maybe he can persuade Campese to come across the M62 to join him !! ?

| Would love Campese too, but can we afford his healthcare.
What about Blair or Kelly even. Both of these are better than the two halves we had already, or even start to clear out the deadwood forwards we have. Hull KR have a good young British forward in Green

| Brian Smith will have been our most expensive coach ever, Chris Chester will have got his pay out from Hull Kr so there must be a saving as I can`t imagine that Chester will be able to command a high salary. Will the difference mean that we can employ a half back for a few months. As I see it we have four problems : Our defense, Our attack, no money and our players are not very good.
So the new coach may help as if the savings made mean we can employ a half decent 6 or 7 then that will help with the attack and defense, not asking for a lot just a player that can pass, catch and tackle - you know the skills that Finn and Miller don`t have. Kear should be able to pop down and give Chester an idea about how to get the players to defend, he should also be able to motivate them. Kear can also advise which players in the championship would bust a gut to be given a chance in SL. Lets face it most of our squad would not get in a top 4 / 5 championship team and there are loads of players in the lower leagues who would improve our squad , for a start every single 6 and 7 playing in every championship team is a better player than Miller.

I cannot comprehend what goes on in some people's minds - they talk about wanting someone who can motivate the players and make them proud to wear the shirt, and then say the players are useless. Great motivational technique there. Glad I'm not working for any of them. Chris Chester has a chance to show what he can do and he will have my full support. The success of any new combination of team, coach and club is difficult to predict but with everyone suporting them, rather than denigrating them, the chances of success will be higher.

| Best of luck to him - he has a win ratio with HKR that we'd kill for, albeit with a team that cost significantly more; I'm happy to back the guy, until he gives reason not to.
As for JK as DoR - I would imagine that's with a SL clause; but if he does come next year, it's a role that I feel suits him better than Head Coach - and his Filofax will be worth its weight in gold. Hopefully, Richard Kelly can make enough noise about the Academy lads to force him to pay attention this time around.

Did you enjoy Campese's 20 minutes for the season, great player if we can ever get him on the pitch. The likelyhood of Green going anywhere Chester is is pretty remote, don't think he'll ever forgive him for not picking him for Wembley when he was our form forward.

| Well done to Michael Carter, I think you've made a great decision in quick time, which is what was needed.
I feel that Chris Chester was unfairly sacked from Hull KR and wasn't given enough time this season. It wasn't his fault the team had, and still does have such a large number of injuries especially in key areas. He was successful in his time at KR and had the respect of the team (I think they may regret getting rid of him). Being a Wakefield lad, he wears his heart on his sleeve and breathes Trinity so I am sure he will do his best for the club, because he cares. If an unknown or Aussie came across, it would just be a pay day to them, they wouldn't have the passion which Chris has got.
Hoping he gets some strict training systems in place, and has the guts to put the lazy players in their place. There are too many in the team who can't be bothered and think they can keep getting paid their thousands per month for just turning up, its not good enough. For the everyday fan who spends their hard earnt money on being loyal to the club it is not acceptable to not try your very best every time they put on the shirt. The should prove their worth and play with pride and passion, and hope that CC will bring that out of them. Those who don't want to, get rid of em and lets see a team that actually wants to play.
Very pleased that John Kear will be coming back to Wakefield next year, and hope that the club is on the up by then. With his knowledge and experience I think he and CC will make a great team, and with MC backing I see a rosier future.
Good luck Chris, sure you will have the backing of alot of fans.

I hope Chris Chester does a half decent job at WTW.
He had his good moments with us at Rovers, but I was among the many here who was calling for him to be sacked and was mightily relieved when we stood him down. Most of us feel he had lost the dressing room, which in turn contains some players short of the sort of pride and passion in the shirt you describe. The main reason is his perception of those players. He thinks many of them are better than they actually are and as a result has never come down hard enough on those who underperform. He blows too much smoke up s. His recruitment record is below average, especially given the free hand he was given here by our BoD to rebuild as he saw fit post Sandercock.
Therein lies the conundrum. On his day, he can get the team up to play out of their skins, but Hull KR have never been able to play with the same flair and intensity since the Wembley debacle and capitulation last August. The hangover continues into this season, hampered by injuries and underperformance.
Obviously he will inherit a side built by previous incumbents at WTW and he could kick-start a backs to the wall, siege mentality ethos, but he will be unable to tease added value out those lazy players you say you have or those who are not good enough for SL. Those players with fire in their collective bellies and who are up for the challenge will most certainly thrive under Chezzie.
Good luck for 2016 and beyond. SL needs clubs like Wakefield and Hull KR.

As a lifelong and loyal Hull KR supporter brought up on East Hull, I honestly think that Chester should have been given longer, however what will be will be. Lets hope Webster can get them into gear and that something can be done to sort out our half backs.
