Im absolutely staggered that Oli Wilkes has come out with such a comment, if its true. Its the equivilant of someone bumping into Rio Ferdinand and him openly telling you that Wayne Rooney has signed for another club. Yes, we're a world away from Man United, but in principal, its comparable and its unacceptable from Wilkes. Regardless of what is or isnt going on at the club, Wilkes shouldnt be saying that sort of thing.

Assuming the circumstances are correct, Id be having Wilkes in for a rollocking in the morning, closely followed by a team meeting to sort the whole job out

I guess this is what happens when either a player speaks carelessly to a fan, or a fan repeats what a player has said, without context or proper detail.

Am I reading the OP wrong? I got the impression that all Oli said was that there was an optional training session! I think the OP added that only 6 turned up!

I don't know - as I said, the detail gets lost in translation and when people are hurting after a humiliating defeat, they add their own nuances and infer that those people who weren't present don't care enough.

The way I read the OP, it was that Oli had made the whole statement, so I'm not surprised if others did the same.

I was speaking to Olly Wilkes at the gym yesterday, he is a top guy and has a lot of time for anyone. Even time to make my 21 month old daughter shy, which is a first! His young'un is around the same age and he had a genuine interest.

I also had the privilege to train near them today and I asked him about the session. He said it was optional and when he said that I (That's me) looked around and was surprised to see only 7 players there.

I hardly think what he says warrants him to be slated. It is actually nice that he has time for the fan's rather believing that he is a class above.

He has hardly brought the club into disrepute. Most of the 17 did that pretty well at the weekend.

He hasn't slated (to my knowledge) the coaching staff off or the training regime. I was in close proximity to them for the whole duration in the free weights area and heard nothing of the sort.

Unless I'm very much mistaken, that's 3 players that played against Cas - Annakin, Lyne and Trout.

Also in there were Ben Shulver, Lucas Walshaw and one or 2 other of the less senior players.

I think without knowing what the players were actually told in terms of whether they were expected to be there or not, then this thread is just a bit OTT. Personally I would have had them all in after the performance at the weekend but if they weren't told to be there then slating them is having a go at the wrong person/people IMO.

Well if Mathers or any of the other players read this forum and get the big sulk on about anything then I would say come and face the fans that had to put up with the last few abysmal performances and explain why they played without pride,passion,heart or effort.

The way I read the Post is the OP was told by mr Wilkes that the session was optional and wildcat26 has made his own observation has to how many players were there .how many we're there who knows but we all can draw our own conclusions on the low turn out.Personally I can understand the fans frustration.
