| Aye, it's very disappointing a player of this quality is leaving and even more so before we all thought he possibly / inevitably would with perhaps a big final send off. However, if we can get the best for the club for perhaps in preparation of next yr and keeping the side stable this year, it's got to be considered. However you could argue this season is then a write-off with only 6 games gone.
Tough decision, and probably any decision the club make will be wrong for both ends of the spectrum.

| Like most on here I'm disappointed Broughy is going, but I was disappointed when Bob Haigh left, I was disappointed when big Neil left, I was disappointed when Toppo left, I was disappointed when Willie Poching left, I was disappointed when Ellis left.
But...... Wakefield Trinity still remained (been a couple of near do's though!!). Players come and go these days mostly chasing the brass, some for a better challenge (Ellis) and some into semi retirement (Union).
I reckon we're in a better position than we've been in for many a year and whilst I thank Danny for his efforts in the RW&B, in a years time it will be "Danny who?"
Keep the faith (in JK)

Aye, this concerns me greatly too. Look at how we have declined in the last 3 years or so, losing such lookers as:
Danny Brough
Paul Riley
Dave March
Brad Drew
Paul March
Come on Ted, get new contracts on the table for Richard Moore and quick, also Sean Gleeson to keep the Ginner quota up - thats decined over the past couple of seasons too.
Is Cookie in the same league? Like for like munter or a step backwards?

Could add Nathan Wood and Ben Westwood to that list also Solomona and possibly Sid Domic but admittedly he was in the twilight years of his career, still disappointed he left though.

I know you're not saying 'it IS over', but I would challenge any individual to go and stand in front of the players, John Kear, Paul Broadbent, Ted or any of our directors, and tell them that the season is over.
The season is long since over - but it is challenging. No one expected the Newton thing; no-one thought we'd be without Paul Johnson and no-one (well a lot of folk) expected Paul King to have played just a few minutes - yet we are 6th in the table, have beaten LEEDS at home for the 1st time in god knows how long and are about to bring one of the best long ball merchants in the game to the club!!!!!
FFS come on guys. The club didn't choose any of these issues - but they are doing their best to make good and prosper - in spite of them. If the club was run on the attitude shown by some people in this thread, then we would have reason to pack it all in. Day after day, week after week, month after month and year after year - it's a bloody struggle to survive - yet we do - and flourish!
Chappy - shake yourself down under a cold shower and force yourself to smile - you will soon feel the glow of being a member of this wide and varied family and the fight will return to your body as if it never left.
No single player was ever better than this club or it's supporters!
We are Wakefield, no-one likes us, and we don't give a "£$%!

| This little speech seems quite apt at this time TRB............
4 June 1940
"I have, myself, full confidence that if all do their duty, if nothing is neglected, and if the best arrangements are made, as they are being made, we shall prove ourselves once again able to defend our Island home, to ride out the storm of war, and to outlive the menace of tyranny, if necessary for years, if necessary alone.
At any rate, that is what we are going to try to do. That is the resolve of His Majesty's Government-every man of them. That is the will of Parliament and the nation.
The British Empire and the French Republic, linked together in their cause and in their need, will defend to the death their native soil, aiding each other like good comrades to the utmost of their strength.
Even though large tracts of Europe and many old and famous States have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Gestapo and all the odious apparatus of Nazi rule, we shall not flag or fail.
We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France,
we shall fight on the seas and oceans,
we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be,
we shall fight on the beaches,
we shall fight on the landing grounds,
we shall fight in the fields and in the streets,
we shall fight in the hills;
we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old."

I think the most defo thin in the world is that your suggestion will not happen. Why would Hudds give Wakey a player or any money and loan Brough back to secure DB's services at the end of the year when it's Danny's choice where to go at the end of the year NOT Trinity's - he's OOC. Perhaps you are "the king of wishful thinking?".

| I have read all the comments on here about Danny Brough, some I agree with and some I don't. Let's not forget although he is a quality player he is not the god some people make him out to be. When we signed from Cas many people posted on her I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole or similar statements meaning the same thing. Whilst he undoubtedly has one of the best kicking games in super league and can turn a match, he is only a good club player. As far as international honours go, he played for Scotland (because he can point to it on a map) had a decent World Cup and began believing he was good enough for the NRL (in his dreams). As far as the Four Nations last year was he selected? No, not even in the train on squad. He was behind an 18 / 19yr old kid who played half a season at a team in the bottom two. So while yes it is a shame, it's not the demise of Wakefield like the doom and gloomers like to think. We as a club will live on for years to come and Brough will become a distant memory.
At the end of the day no player is bigger than the club. People have named some great players who have left the club over the years, some not with us anymore, but most of them left for the right reasons. Brough has tried to hold the club to ransom and I (although not a fan of the Richardson family) believe they are right to get rid now and look forward to the rest of the season rather than carrying a disruptive influence who doesn't want to be at the club.

| I saw the headline 'Brough for Galpharm' - instantly I said we should go with that deal, we then have a stadium suitable for SL, and force Hudds into needing to merge with Quins or someone else to carry on. Bonus!

| IMO Brough on his day is a match winner and when the team is playing well he really shines, however I think sometimes when everything is not going his way his attitude can have a negative effect on the whole team. I'll certainly miss watching him play, but the team comes first and I don't believe like others have said on here that the season is a write off 6 games in to it. We are not a one man team and I'm sure JK will challenge the players to show this is not the case and life goes on without Danny.
We have a fantastic crop of youngsters coming through, Cooke to come in (with a point to prove) and with the brass we are saving from Danny's hefty wages the opportunity to bring in a new player or two. I'm sure JK will not be entertaining the prospect of letting DB go if he didn't have something up his sleeve. So plenty of reasons to be optimistic.
Chin up boys!

| I think some people may be overlooking what a set ot ts Shudds have been in all this. They have come in yet again and got to one of our players before a ball had even been kicked this season. they have got their man for next year and didn't give a toss about anything whilst they were doing it. They got found out and I think they have tried to cover their tracks by saying they want to sign him for this season.
My worry is that they will now pull out of the deal, leave us with an unsettled player and just sit back and wait for next season. I have said it many times before, just remember how the screwed up Griffin. The last thing we want is to be left with DB on our books behaving like Griff did that season.
