| I think the spin war will almost go into meltdown when we get the nod on the 19th.

Kind of lost touch a little bit with the goings on there. I know the council are trying damned hard to give them a leg up to try and keep the clubs on something of an even keel - but of the two, NM is now the clearest route and it will be interesting to see things play out following the announcemnt.
I suspect that the spin war will continue until the foundations are being poured - and then a bit more.
I should note that I have stated all along that my vision of the future includes both clubs playing in separate new stadiums and that I would love our 'derbies' to be bigger and better as a result!'"
I'm with you on that. I have no desire to see Cas go bump, provided that they don't survive at our expense. It has gone awful quiet over there, to say that they were in detailed talks with people about a supermarket or whatever. As said above, it will get noisy again when we get some good news.
The best news ever would be to see concrete being poured at Newmarket at the same time as Cas finally raise the funds, although that would be a dark day at RFL HQ.
Having said that, if we were the only top flight club in the Wakefield area, we would attract some very hot local talent.

| I can't help wondering if the deafening silence from RW lately is down to him waiting for the NM announcement.
My feeling is that if we get the nod, he'll start drip feeding bad news to Cas fans, in preparation for announcing a groundshare, 'after all avenues have been exhausted' etc etc; makes sense really - he can then sell WR for a sensible price, instead of the fabled figures they've been talking about, and trouser more of the cash for operating costs and such.

It seems to make some sense, although can you see Cas being a viable proposition away from Cas, in a ground that is perceived by Cas fans as ours? I can't. Our crowds would double theirs at Newmarket. If they are going to head to the Championship, they would be better to stay at Wheldon Road. At least the crowds would stay with them. Cas at Newmarket will be a tough ask. Cas at Newmarket in the Champhionship is a non-starter.

My feeling is that their finanical future is contingent on the sale of WR, so I don't think staying there is an option. One look at their bargain basement approach to recruitment this season gives a fair indication of how strapped they are - I just can't see them selling WR then ploughing all the cash into a new stadium.
Time will tell.

No it isn't HTH. In fact, it's nothing to do with Cas. Unfortunately, out of our hands but the planning application for WR is ready to go in and will go in once situation with supermarket operator is resolved.

The intention is to go into the new stadium debt-free. Again, HTH.
As for recruitment this season, IM had a budget. The money he had available to him was spent on securing the likes of Owen, Clark, Milner, Walker etc (our young kids) on better, longer-term deals.

No, it doesn't help at all.
I'm not interested in getting to an argument with you on this - I'm just expressing a view based on my observations; I'm not stating that any of them are a fact, nor am I suggesting that any of my predictions will come true - just thinking aloud.
It's an interesting aspiration though that the sale of WR, given that it's current market value will be significantly less than it was when RW first kicked his spin machine into life, will raise sufficient cash to wipe all the clubs debts AND fund the build of a brand new stadium. Good luck with that one.

I hope it comes off for you, when you've paid any debts you may or may not have you can throw the rest at the stadium build, good job you did that buy a brick thing otherwise you could not afford enough bricks.
Well thats what my dad says

They'll be an announcement soon enough but its not quite gone as well as hoped from a financial point of view. A lot of wheeling & dealing has had to be done and the deal on the table isn't as lucrative as once was hoped. That sadly is just the way of the world and supermarkets are cutting back on their generosity.

So if you are using some of the proceeds from the sale of WR on clearing debts, you do realise you will be liable for a sizeable bill through capital gains tax don't you? That will put a bit of a hole in funding for GH will it not? HTH

RW already said that a few months ago.
The deal isn't as much as originally thought but enough to get one built. But the wait is getting beyond a joke now.

Business Asset Roll-over Relief.
As Cas will be reinvesting the money they make into a new asset they can apply for tax relief on the above, which will enable them to postpone paying any tax until the new asset is sold.

Well googled.
But as you've now read wikipedia i guess you'll know that it only counts for the money you put in the new business premises. Any used for other reasons, i.e. paying off other liabilities is subject to taxation. So as your ceo has already admitted a shortfall on the original plan then i doubt you'll be using your gains to pay off your debts, thus you'll not be debt free when you move.
If Jacks family still want their inheritance back from the sale then that couple of million will be interesting HMRC. So i guess you'll have to transfer debts from WR to GH otherwise it will never get built.

I very much doubt you do, you know what Richard has told you. He told you that the plans are ready to go in. Yet he also told you there were talks taking place with two different operators. Who both have seperate designs needs. So have Opus paid twice for two lots of plans then depending on who signs the deal? Or do they have a draft that will need detailed plans drawing prior to submition? If you think its the former then you are very naive. Things are moving and it will happen but don't expect it to be soon.
