Last time Trinity were at Wembley, you had Mike Lampkowski at scrum half. Your opponents Widnes had GB RL legend Vinty Karalius coaching. If your memory doesn't go back that far, you might like to think about where names like Kris Radlinski, John Stankevitch or Ikram Butt come from.

As was shown last night two investors have pulled out at the eleventh hour because of the uncertainty surrounding the clubs SL status.
That will have been repeated accross all aspects of the club including sponsorship, hospitality, player and staff recruitment the net result being an almost irreversable undermining of the clubs stability just when it needed to be at its most secure.'"
I think you're absolutely right, but I can't see there being much sympathy for that view from the Championship clubs that have been living with that reality for a number of years now, while we've been dining at the top table.

The RFL are probably no worse than most other large governing bodies in that respect. OK, they have the smallest membership of all the other major sports, but in terms of satisfying the personal ambitions of those who run the show, they're no worse than the FA, the RFU, FIFA, UEFA.... They turn in a profit, though, so they must be doing a good job. My

I was not going to comment but just to make a distinction for the purpose of clarification. I am with you on the fact that house prices and other complaints of some of the locals will not get a look in at the PI , they will be more interested in planning law, particularly the areas they have asked for clarification on. The fact is at the moment the scheme does not stack up with current legislation, and the enquiry will be to determined if it the project carries enough positives to allow for departure from these laws.'"
Rugbyball - I apologise if indeed I am mistaken (but he does have a similar posting style to you and spells inquiry as enquiry... I know I am being a pedent about this but I don't care! ). If true, I take it back... I am not being paranoid, you mistake me with others!
I am interested why you still don't think it stacks up though... the one issue the PI and delay has done has brought the site specfic LDF into play and therefore 65% of the B8 is going to stack. I think the longer this takes the better it becomes (which is ironic in some ways) for this getting through the PI. The recent policy change on car parking spaces and a move towards greener car options by the Government is huge shift in thinking and only strengthens one of Newmarket's weaker points in policy.

Which most of the objectors are concerned about. To say that they have been dismissed is misleading to say the least.
But hey, keep up the good work with the petition which probably will be dismissed in the same way.

Although age and time wise I cant really go as long as you have, however I too invested /donated money to the club for years, bought everything going, did everything I could to support and build the brand of Wakefield Wildcats, but over the past few years I too lost confidence, became literally bored with the entertainment on the field and found the entertainment off it more entertaining in a comical way over the shambles that came forward.
Now I can only echo your sentiments and have lost total interest in it all and wouldnt shed a tear if we ceased to exist in all fairness. In my eyes things are that bad, and there would have been no way Id have been saying that 5 years ago.

Do you reckon (for example) the Korkidas or Demetriou families arrived in Australia, from Greece, with a love for and deep knowledge of rugby league? Did Ellery Hanley's dad play rugby league when he was growing up in the Caribbean? If there's loads of Poles in Wakefield, Trinity should be doing their damnedest to get them involved, not using it as an excuse.

Well, thank goodness we've got that. Seem to have been more bothered about getting dancers to enrol in classes than running a rugby league club for the past few years.
Where's John Harbin and a rousing speech to beg for our cash this time? It's 2001 all over again. Belle Vue was inadequate then, it was in 1998, it was in 1992 and years before.
Oh, and Wakefield No.1, I'm glad £1000 may not be much to you, but for many it's more than a months wage, and electric, transport and food will keep the family going, throwing it at a 'professional' rugby club would not.
(P.S. Why don't mods just delete trolls rather than have them derail discussion?)

Strangely I think there is a huge amount of sympathy for you , this situation you find yourself in was predicted by many of us lower tier fans 3/4 years ago
It seems we were right
The RFL are willing to provide Championship clubs with money to ' chase ' sponsorship and corporate finance , when as you have discovered , it is basically impossible without a cast iron guarantee of what you can achieve , noody with money will support any club with a glass ceiling above it , just as you are struggling to bring in finance as you are walking on a frozen pond
Franchising eh , great innit

no but they were born into a rugby league culture and spent there life round one. why dont they play rl in barnsley or newcastle because its not in there upbringing weve spent 100 and odd years trying to spread the game and we cant spread it 10 mile down the road to an area which was a mining area. i played with ikram but as a junior but even his career didnt actually help did it

These fans deserve better!!
Its time for some cold hard truth on this forum and it will be tough to cope with, but stringing people along with pathetic petitions and new groups to join is a waste of everybodys time!!
The facts are thus:
- The club is in debt and without new investment will go bust within a month or 2.
- The club will not get a new Franchise.
- The club is probably unlikeley to meet its 2011 Super League commitments.
- Newmarket will NOT get the go ahead following the Public Enquiry and the project will be shelved.
Wakefield should not be asking the fans for all this money when investors won't touch it with a barge pole, they are banking on blind emotion and its a disgrace!!
If the fans want Ted out and to take the club over, why not let it go into administration and buy it for a lot less money, they could have a very good future in the championship and not have to throw all this money into a defunct Super League dream!!'"

Come on allmatt/BigAlf you know that is not what ChampagneTroll meant and what I said had been dismissed and you know it... you know I agree with you on the valid points (I mentioned above), we only disagree on the discharging of those points, I think then can be adequately discharged and you don't... now that is at least a valid debate so don't let your high standards drop!
As for the Statements, I still don't think it is about the numbers game and on reflection I think Leeds City Council was the primary reason for the call in. However, this "no one local wants it crap" being used by the NIMBY's is just that and that is what we are going to set out to prove. Also this other bit of Tory crap, the big society, has changed the game slightly and if people do want this then they need to say so, the argument being that if similar numbers of people say yes and say no then they cancel each other out and it will come down to policy. The idea of the public meeting and Statements is to hit the issues of the B8 head on and then understand how that changes things for people. We are of course presenting our strong views but I would still argue we are not telling any lies to get peoples support, we are speculating on the LDF change being accepted, but nothing more.
Also, I have been meaning to post this for a while. I got some clarity on the site specific LDF proposal and the 95ha direct from the planning policy team. The four sites have been identified and recommended, Newmarket was the largest at 33.28 ha and a site at Shilling Hill 23.88ha, Trinity Farm (ironic!) 26.23 and a small site at Cutsyke (don't have full details on this one but about 7ha) which takes them to around 90ha and they are hoping to pick up some other options during the plan period. Interestingly, Newmarket was a clear first choice because of former use and location, as all the other sites are agricultural (and Greenbelt of course). Now they didn't tell me this but there is a rumour that they might actual extend the Newmarket site and drop either Shilling Hill or Trinity Farm from the LDF as they are all either grade 2 and 3a use! If they do then that will cover all the planned B8 at Newmarket... so it would just be the stadium and B2 that would be the remaining issues!

If you worked for the RFL in those years can I ask you a little question.
Have you seen the film Big ? With Tom Hanks in. If so, remember the part where he attends his first meeting about the transformer and answer this.
During the meeting where the top dogs of the RFL said they would revolutionise the sport of Rugby league, didnt you put your hand up and say "I dont get it".
It might have solved all these problems from the past 5 years.
