| Quote ="TURFEDOUT"Although i do have some sympathy for what you are suggesting.
In order for a club to be punished, they would have to be found guilty of misconduct that impinges on the integrity of the game -- which Wakefield are not.
=#FF0000Also,and i could be wrong on this, but the first sample taken has to be "in competition" if retraction of medals/points etc...is to be done.'"
Now having consideration of the test date and the slow process of testing Wakefield are then certainly innocent of any misconduct.....
my point was they have benefited from the individuals" crime" but given the above situation then I conceed that any deduction of points would be too harsh.
In relation to other comments from Wakefield fans this was never about the particular club involved from my point of view but a general arguement about drugs in sport.
I am a big fan of JK as a coach and the clubs start to the season is a credit to him and the remaining players.

| I reckon if I was Terry Newton I would want to find out why the governing body seem able to name the rugby league players with the findings, but not those from association football, the RFU and powerlifters.(They even name wheelchair cannabis users)
Take any one of the 109 pages [url=http://www.ukad.org.uk/index.php?content=violations&p=1U.K.A.D.website[/url

Paddy Kenny makes it onto that list.
Either way it makes no ends to Newton, he cheated, for what ever reason, and got caught. Who else is named on a list is of little consequence to him. It certainly wouldn’t have saved his career.

I did notice Paddy Kenny, but with him now being at Sheffield United and outside of the Premier League he may not be considered high profile (should that be a reason for naming or not naming )
I just thought it an anomaly when everyone should be pulling in the same direction against the misuse of banned substances.I would NOT like to think that for some reason, some sportspeople are spared publicity while others are not.
Either all are named or it is kept secret between the testers and the tested and clubs throw a veil of secrecy when the bans come into force.
My own view is that all are named once a test confirms a finding.

I agree it is a little strange that the people who have been given a suspension or fine don’t have their name 'up in lights' so to speak. It seems a little bizarre. However, I still think Newton would find little solace in these gaps being filled in.

Other sports seem to brush these issues under the carpet....
Seems though our, well he was our, Terry was targeted, so his biggest fan writes in the Grauniad: [urlhttp://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2010/feb/22/terry-newton-wakefield-trinity-drugs[/url

| Sorry.I should have written [url=http://www.ukad.org.uk/index.php?content=violations&p=5Wheelchair Basketball Players[/url
I'm surprised any sport is played with all the drug testing going on and people continuing to break the rules making it more difficult and inconvenient for the next generation.

| I read somewhere today, that the ukada had made a significant breakthrough in being able to detect hgh in blood samples.
As this naturally occurs in the blood anyway it has always been difficult for any agency to prove guilt, as it requires no masking drug it's like looking for a piece of hay in a giant stack of needles.
If they have found a new method which enables them now to spot hgh, maybe Newton will be the first of a long list, could be a few sweating a bit after this news!!!!

the only issue is that (according to the reading I have done) the the artificial HRH is only detectable for about 48 hours... which would suggest that the statement by the agency that new techniques and intelligence were responsible for this positive identification... (ie someone who had close contact with Newton and his training regime, gave the agency the 'heads up' the a test should be administered)
this means that users (and those who have gained exactly the same advantage as Newton) will not be detected and get away scott free...
I guess this means that Newton is the one to take the chop so that others think twice now???
In some ways that makes Terry unlucky that he is the chosen example... however... cheaters deserve to be caught... all of them!

These comments have come from the RFL asking that all players in this years 4 nations are blood tested. NRL have said that it's up to the players association which probably will veto it to prevent any potential headlines.

I was told it was because he'd refused a urine test as he couldn't go.

Anyone refusing, should be ommited from the comp.
They'll probably make excuses as to not being available, but it may give the authorities an idea as to the size of the problem.
