| Can't believe some of the subliminal snobbery on this thread since brexit won. Some of you sound like the metropolitan elite that are sulking in London. I would bet good money that the the bulk of the pro europe brigade on this thread don't have to make their living in the real world. Most will work for the local authority or be employed by the government in some capacity . The power base in this country has been centralised in London for far too long and they've been given a bloody nose by the little people . Stop stamping your feet and get on with it - the world hasn't stopped turning.

| No foot stamping here. Just very sad that some politicians on both sides of the campaign have been so dishonest. I may be slightly biased but I think Cameron and Osborne have stretched the facts or been economical with the truth. Farage, Gove and Johnson on the other hand have told blatant lies. You enjoy your 'victory'. I just hope it doesn't come back and bite the country on the ar5e.

Exactly, our self perceived intellectual superiors who secretly hate the fact that the lower orders get the vote. The TVs been full of them today apparently the likes of me have been brain washed by the SUN not that I've ever buy the rag. It's beyond there comprehension to see that anyone that does a manual job and hasn't been to university could possibly make such an informed decision.

Well let's see if those of you 'in the real world' (utter b******s) now put your money where your mouth is and take the country to Utopia. People who voted against leaving (and I believe there were a few million) probably looked at wider issues than immigration ( which seems to have swung it!) - of which there are many, that will affect us now we have left.
I suspect the issues I refer to were probably beyond the comprehension of many of the leave brigade who simply followed the advice of that complete Mr Nobody (and never will be anybody), Nigel Farage.
I am now part time self employed but personally still feel we would have been better off in the EU. My opinion and I lost. I get on with life but resent the tone of your post. You cannot stereotype people like that!

Can you say for certain that Turkey will or will not join in 1 year or 100 years? No you can't. So it's an opinion, not provable one way or another. Farage lying about the 350 million slogan on his battle bus is a lie. Gove telling us his dad's business went bust because of the EU was a lie. Johnson telling us he supports Brexit when a few months ago he was all in favour of remaining is, probably, a self serving lie. Yes - bs on both sides but absolutely shameless dishonesty on the part of those three.

I did say some and most...not all. You are entitled to your opinion as much as I am. Where did I say that it would be utopia? But neither is it going to be hell on earth. Fwiw my main reason for a leave vote was to free myself from an unelected ,corrupt , beaurocratic monster that refused to listen to ordinary people's opinions. It's called democracy

There we go again with assumption that Remain voters voted in a more informed way. Basically Leave = Thickos.

Why were British civil servants in Turkey at great expense paving their way to joining if it wasn't going to happen for 100 years?

I listened to some Leavers this morning. One reason for leaving - our benefits are being cut. Another reason - in Europe they go to university for free, we have to pay here. A third - immigrants get all the council houses.
You tell me whether or not they were more or less informed

I'm not meaning that at all. It was a borderline decision for me and immigration for me also was a big factor BUT not the only thing to consider. It just seems that for most of the leave voters Immigration has been the overwhelming issue IF we are to believe the media!

I'm not missing the point. In some ways you are correct I can't prove categorically that Cameron lied about Turkey. In the same way I can't prove ill wake up tomorrow morning..but it's going to happen.Hopefully.

Thanks. Better to part as friends who happen to have differing opinions . The world would be a dull uninteresting place if we all thought the same.

You must mix in some strange company
Amongst other things
I voted on
The massive trade deficit
The huge net contribution of the U.K. to the EU
The intransigence of Eurocrats
The dismissal of the UKs request for reform
The silly threats made by Claude Junker and others
To secure our borders
To reclaim control of immigration (not to stop it)
To reclaim full sovereignty
To have leaders that I can hold accountable
To open up the world as our trade partners
To regenerate the British fishing industry
To open up immigration to countries outside the EU, free from EU restrictions
To regain full control of our law courts
The EU blocking a rescue for package fir our steel industry
The real threat of Turkeys inclusion
The future marginalisation of the UK had we remained
To free myself from leaders who do not represent me in any way shape or form but worse aren't interested in me or people like me!
and lots of other issues that I've taken the time to research in order to make my own decision about in or out.
You make yourself comfortable with the notion that you're superior intellect allows you a more informed view if it helps you. We all need a crutch or something to lean on every now and then!

The point about that is that whatever we get now we've left the EU we don't and will never know just what staying in would have wrought upon the UK over the next few years.
There are obviously unknowns in both stay or leave
What I do know is that I didn't like the status quo and feared the direction the EU was moving in.
I was too young to vote on the Common Market and was never asked about the Maastricht Treaty or whether I thought we should sign it.
I have never agreed for one second that what was only a trade organisation should begin legislating for its members.

The facts would back up your assertion:
"According to the polls, university graduates were the most likely people to want to remain in the EU - while those with a GCSE or equivalent as their highest qualification were more likely to back Brexit.
This was a pattern that was reflected in the results.
Those with no education tended to vote Brexit."

That's an awfully disappointing post!
The polls also suggest that those over 45 were most likely to vote to exit, you know those from generations and of an age for whom University wasn't really an option for the majority. Yet those who have worked all their lives and have a different kind of education that doesn't get a graduation ceremony. They're also the ones that will remember the UK before the EU or even the Common Market, they'll remember that we were capable of standing on our own.
They must all be thick according to you!
Don't come back with an excuse that you're the messenger, the fact that you've posted this in the context you have says what you think.

How patronising!! In one reply you have summed up the why people voted for Brexit. Do you really think that it will now change and suddenly London will no longer be the centre of everything in the UK? Who will be PM - the previous mayor of London! If anything it will get worse and all the investment will be centred on the South.
BTW I do not work for the Government in any way and have a working class background. I just managed to see beyond the immediate issues and see what was causing them. And it's not the EU
Do you realise that many of the workers rights we enjoy come from the EU? Do you really think that Boris and his Eton cronies really give a fig about them?

Shocking contemptious post this Bren. After much research I voted to leave, and although clearly we all have different views the decision has now been made in a democratic way.

| Guys, I've given this thread a lot of room but it's now got personal, so I'm locking it. It's not the place.
The vote has finished. Let it go.
