| Will need to improve greatly to get into the Hull first team I would have thought.
Not a massive loss.

Yet we all waited with baited breath on the news that our 34 year old Talisman was coming back to rescue us . I’ll settle for those type of pensioners any day than some of the wet wipes we have at present . Couldn’t hold a candle to big Dave no matter the age

| For a player that’s hovered between disappointing and ineffective (when he’s pulled on the trinity shirt) I can’t say I’m heartbroken by this.

| Joined a low quality, poorly coached team and didn't stand out.Think he had one promising game, but if we've new money to spend would hope to find better.Good look to the lad.

Dywer is terrible, ask any fan of a team, that he has played for, those who have had the misfortune to watch his full games, other fans mainly see highlights and he odd good run, but they don't see the rest of his game, the fact his passing is awful, often makes the wrong decision and cannot defend.
Smith will be a backup playing 7 and 9, it's a gamble., but Tony Smith has a good habit of improving players and he has coached him before at Warrington.
He is more a replacement from Ben McNamara, who is no way near SL standard.

| Looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights most times he took the field.
Good luck to the lad and could have done a job in the Championship but at the end of the day he won’t be missed at Trinity.
Strange signing by us and expecting him to step up and boss the team was very optimistic.

Exactly! Think this was a money ball type signing that just didn’t work out for us at all. Lads obviously got something otherwise Hull FC wouldn’t be signing him, but at 26 he should of been hitting his straps.

Could Smith be the type of signings clubs have to make. Plenty of talk of the lack of quality and young talent comming into the game as our sport continues to decline. I am not saying it's my view, but plenty in the media and around the game see it that way.

| He’ll be backup surely. Even Penrith panthers have jack cogger as back up to Cleary and Luai and he didn’t tear up trees at Huddersfield. Our downfall was we had Gaskell who is championship Standard and Lino who couldn’t organise a pee up in a brewery.

Unbelievable Hood never gets mentioned along with Gaskell both should have been no were near the club Think Lino as gone a lot better than fans give him credit for .Last year when Miller was here Lino had some good games less pressure on him because Miller was good enough and fast enough to create gaps and go through gaps,. The problem this year is we have had no pace in the most important places on the field 6 and 9 starting with Gaskell and Hood and finishing with Gale and Hood, it is like most of the back 7 i very slow for pace .Can not get my head round the fact that we have got a Coaching staff that does not think pace was important in S L . From what we have signed for next year looks like we are going down the same path in the Championship .Hope I am wrong but Hood, Gale got contracts and that is just for starters

I think the vast majority of the team can be bagged this season for one reason or another. The season has been a shambles.

Totally agree about Hood. However I remember just a few games into the season our director of rugby creaming himself because he had got Hood to accept a contract extension. That says it all to me and that is why we have had this shambolic season, the people making the rugby decisions are clueless

| The backline they started with had Jowitt, Murphy, Hall and Kershaw or Lineham in it. Plus Lino.
It wasn't slow. We just lost them through injury and then Hall through a deal.

Reading Minnards interview on the club website,
I have no faith they will make the right decision regarding the coaching appointment. He thinks Applegarth is a good coach yet statistics prove otherwise. Agar, Chester and even Webster got sacked for less.

And Willie not offered a contract, too
Yes I don't know how he kept a straight face when he came out with that remark
Anyway I have a feeling it won't be his decision to make

Have to agree with this. Were there things outside of his control, no doubt, but I can't honestly say after watching the team this season that they look coached at all. Perhaps only Atoni has improved, but that seems to have coincided with Fifita been at the club which suggests it was a mental issue. To me we look like a team who have never played together before. Have no idea what the game plan is andaree often poorly prepared, making the same mistakes week in week out, and lacking the brains/composure to take advantage of opportunities. From the outside, the coaching has not addressed this issue which was apparent in the very first game against Catalan.
Applegarth may be a good coach, but he's not a head coach.

Dwyer is still head and shoulders above Smith.

| In the League Express Applegarth seems to be saying he Hope's Sean Long stays on as his assistant. So he must think he's staying.

| If Applegarth is staying then season ticket sales will suffer. It's hit and miss for us saving with one anyway as we can't commit to attending all games. The thought of a repeat of this year under him doesn't temp me to get my credit card out.

I seem to remember at the time MC said he wouldn't sack Webster despite how terrible we were.

This was probably because he had either released or sold most of the squad leaving Webster with very little team wise.

Webster went after we let a 20-0 lead go v the then Championship side Leigh in the cup. The final straw I guess. His team that day didn't look that bad
