I agree with that. Some positive direction is needed whatever form that comes in.

I must be getting old … I’m beginning to become nostalgic… nostalgic for the days when the build up to a game was a weekly publication called Rugby Leaguer… and a regular piece on Trinity by a dude with the pseudonym of ‘left footer’… or a daily visit to the newsagent for the first edition of the Evening Post with the possibilities of a couple of lines of news about Trinity… and then the real scoops of a Friday morning Wakefield Express back page… sometimes an odd rumour would come from a chat in the pub, or at training on Tuesdays and Thursdays… mostly things heard from a friend of a friend or someone’s mum was a cleaner at the office of one of the board members… all was taken with a pinch of salt … and 99% of which was just idle speculation or complete made up nonsense.

At games the order of play was 1) who knows any new jokes…2) guess the crowd numbers… 3) nod to your weekly terrace neighbours with bland indifference… 4) share any of the weekly rumours you might have stumbled across… also with a general air of scepticism… 5) watch the game booing the opponent and cheering (lambasting) the home team… 6) walk home happily chatting or blaming the referee… 7) get on with your life…

Latterly a more detailed update on news came every couple of weeks on a high rate phone number…

Then came the internet… and the world got crazy … or maybe it was always crazy and it just got more visible… in such a short time it has become a vehicle for abuse and hate… misinformation and manipulation…

Given the ubiquitous nature of communication through the internet, there is but little choice to subscribe or become totally isolated… I want to follow my team… follow the news and pick up of interesting discussion.

But, for me, this thread exemplifies the unpleasant nature of communication through the internet… in the past I could read an article, listen to a terrace conversation and then walk away.. I didn’t have to watch it cascade into self motivated set of, ever decreasing, dualistic and divisive arguments.

The concepts of truth, empathy and altruism have all but been destroyed in forums and on line comments. Anger and division are the new social mantras, and in the main, sensible, intelligent and reasoned argument have been replaced by cancellation, intransigence and intolerance,

And I certainly hope my words are not victim to the afore mentioned ‘Dunning- Kruger’ effect.

I agree, but the worry for me is the number talking down everything about the club and saying this takeover will save us when they don't know anything about the guy wanting to buy.
I feel like if it doesn't go their way straight away, they'll just turn on him too.

I get your point, but currently we're heading for the abyss and we as supporters have let it happen.

The team has been slowly dismantled over the last few years and now this is what we're left with. I thought last years team was poor but they would stick 40 on this lot.

Carter brought all the negativity on him self, he went from semi hero to zero in about 2 years in my opinion. He constant bla bla bla about saving the club and his pointless statements and in some cases rants on social media set pressed his self distrust button . The more I listened to him the easier it became to dislike him and his attitude gradually put the club (his club) on its slippery slope. Luckily for him he had a following of support for his woe is the club preaching and his club became supported by a small band of part time accountants who grasped every word and even preached his teachings themselves,
The downfall of the clubs the responsibility of one man and one man only.

Oh don't get me wrong. I'm pleased we are in this position. I just think we need to be ready for a slow change and some decisions we don't all like.

Things will get worse before they improve, I don't think there are any players available, or coaches for that matter, who will massively change our trajectory this year. However, if this guy has the cash and is willing to use it we could do a Leigh next year and be stronger for it in 2025.

This is right. Hopefully it doesn’t come to it but what Leigh did is exactly what we need to do in 2024 if it comes to it. Maybe not so lavishly but still along the same lines.

The thing is it seems mc has had enough wants out,wants his money out if he can, love him or hate him the sad thing for me is his legacy will be this season as it stands in the superleague history books. Nobody probably feels worse than him 10yrs and out of superleague but when he backed chester blindly & got involved in the playing side well we've seen the results. Hope the deal can be sorted, the new guy stays a business man & wakey fan and gets some experienced rl people around him for us to move forward, enjoy the ground and have some respectable rugbyto watch. God knows we need it after this years rubbish!

On the recruitment front. The last two seasons have been really poor and there’s no doubt mistakes have been made… bet if and when the line is drawn under his time…he’d admit some were made too…. However you can sign players but you never really know what you’re getting until they’ve rocked up! (Or not)

This is just my opinion… but if we end up under new management the foundations have been started that will enable the new management/owners to push the club forward…. By that I am talking about our elite academy licence (something MA did a fine job with)the new footlights, playing surface , big screen… not to mention the re purchasing of the ground without which no work would of been started in either thenorth or east stands….
And while debt has been incurred on the purchase of the ground , if smart … the new guy has the opportunity to turn the east stand into something that will hopefully make money thus enabling us to pay this debt off over time…..

So while these last two seasons have been a disaster on the playing front…. I think his legacy will be that he got the ball rolling of the pitch if not on it…

To put a bit of context, the MKM Stadium (home of Hull FC & City) earned rental income of £1.4million from its tenants in there last set of accounts. They have obviously have 2 bigger 'tenants' than any potential SMC that could end up owning Belle Vue.
