Glad you find it amusing, perhaps you don’t remember the mess Salford were in at the beginning of the year, or maybe you’re a newbie.

| Just want to say the difference in class from Wakefield fans at the news of Smith's departure and arrival at Salford as much much more classy and dignified than the trolls from Cas regarding Chase.
Hope you come out the other side, it seems like you're in safe and sensible hands. This is where wealthy owners like Dr Koukash are invaluable, without him we would never have been able to pay Wakefield a substantial fee thus assuring your financial troubles.

| For those that say we've had better players in the past that we've sold on I don't think we've sold a Dally M winner from the best rugby league competition in the world before and he is one of the most creative players we've had in the last 20 years and has been an excellent signing by Agar. The only other player I can think of in recent years who was a class player was Gareth Ellis and where did the money go then to pay off debts?
'Trim the fat' first and get those off the playing roster and wage bill that don't contribute like Mellars and Molloy now. Tuson to look forward to linking up with Kirmond but they'll be a lot of pressure now on Sykes, Goulding and Kaye between them to direct our game and create try scoring opportunities.
We show yet again that we are a selling club and this has been on the cards for sometime with the surprise release of Kyle Wood a few months ago. I like the bunker spirit statement from the Chairman 'no sugar daddy available' but feel this is contrived and probably has been planned for a few weeks.
No mention of Poore and Tautai in the statement and I fear they will be next as they'll be on decent contracts.

| Right, now is the time to stand up and be counted. The statement from Michael Carter seems frank, honest and genuine.
Selling Smith was the only option we had and so even though it's disappointing that it has had to come to that, I'd rather that than lose MY club!!
Quote The past should be a learning experience not an everlasting punishment. What’s done is done. Constantly going over the ordeals you previously faced will only be a burden in your life.'"
A fresh start is needed and that can only happen if WE back the Club and the new Chairman who seems to know what he is doing.
On the plus side we will start next season as everyone's prediction for relegation which is when the Wakefield Spirit shows itself and we generally go out and prove everyone wrong.
Quote You can’t have a better tomorrow if you’re always thinking about yesterday.'"
The Club and the Team will get my full backing starting tomorrow at Huddersfield. I hope that others feel the same.

Just on what they did during their time in a Wakefield shirt I would still argue that Willie Poching had far more influence and was greater loss at that time.
Similarly Gareth Ellis.

I'm pretty disappointed that TS has gone, especially with promotion and relegation next season, but......I do tend to agree with you, add in a bullet like flat pass and you have his full repertoire.

| I’m totally gutted that Timmy’s off, but if the other alternative is administration it’s a no-brainer.
My fear is that when the vultures come circling more players will follow – for peanuts.
I have the greatest respect for Glover, after all he saved us from oblivion, however, I thought he’d have more business sense than what’s been on show for the last couple of years.
Coming from an accounting background I have winced at the number of CCJ’s that have being thrown at the club, whilst AG & JE pop up on twitter saying “a few more followers & we’ll reveal some exiting news” .
Elston has been party to not one but two catastrophes whilst at the helm, he clearly didn’t / hasn’t the financial acumen required for the position & Glover should have been aware of that.

| well I have read thru 27 pages of this debate and I am thoroughly depressed tbh, I have paid 40 pounds of my platinum membership but am seriously considering not putting the forms in for anymore money, its ok saying we got to be strong and ride the roller coaster but I not sure how many more times I can do that, 360 a lot of money and by the way the forms said 400 which they said was administrative error, no wonder we in if they carnt get basics right!! for us to put our hard earned money into this club for it to be misused breaks my heart and tbh if we left with calibre of players we had in kears last season I don't think it worth 360 pounds just my opinion of course and a lot will say I wrong but after 30 years I am now seriously disillusioned

Two great forwards in their day I agree but think in terms of the best Wakefield scrum half for a long time Tim Smith can't be beaten, didn't he come top on the OPTA statistics last season for most assists/try scoring opportunities created in Super League. Although without a foil in Sykes being present at 6 he hasn't been anywhere near as effective for good chunks of this season.
Some of his passing has been sublime in a Wakefield shirt despite derrogative comments, Agar found him in the NRL wilderness can he find another quality scrum half going cheap?
The challenge for Agar now is to sort his 6 & 7 positions out with Super League standard players (appreciate Sykes could fill 6 but has been injury prone) with virtually no cash.

What about the half back who we will be facing tomorrow, where does DB come into your 'reckoning'?
We also 'lost' him.

| Whilst I would agree that Tim Smith has been good for us, I was always frustrated that (to me) he never seemed to take a game by the scruff of the neck and run the game. Not like Andy Gregory, Sean Long, Peter Sterling or even Bobby Goulding in his prime. I always feel that there was more to come from him but it never seemed to come.
I was fortunate enough to be in Australia in August and went to a couple of games and spoke to a lot of RL fans in Sydney, Brisbane and Newcastle and to a man none of them rated him, some even laughed when I said he was playing for us. One even laughed when I said we had him and said "you poor b**gers".
He burst on the scene and was billed as the next best thing but for whatever reason it never quite happened for him in Australia.
I feel there's more inside him waiting to come out, perhaps Noble can do it at Salford.
Anyway, thanks Tim for pulling the shirt on and having a go for Trinity

| I have witnesses who can testify that I have been saying for several months that Tim Smith IS our biggest problem.
Yes, he's talented and yes, he was great last season, but where has it been hiding this year? I know he's not had Sykes to play with, but I still expect more from him.
The main thing I notice is that when Tim is going well he is chelping all the time - pointing, cadjoling - but this season I have seen none of this, even when he has had his better games.
Did we not say after the Leeds games that what we lacked was a rugby brain - someone to take control and direct us towards a winning position? Is that not the role that Tim should play, and was playing last season when it mattered?
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want to sell him, but I certainly thought we didn't see anything like from him this season and, despite his Albert Goldthorpe points, I don't think he's in our op 5 players this season.
The problem is, when we become so reliant on a single player and that player doesn't perform, we sometimes lack the ability to find another way - we did it with Solo and we did it with Willie - yet when they left, we survived as other players stood up to the plate.
I think we do need a SH, and I hope we will look for one before the new season starts, but TS on his own is not the disaster many would believe - IMO of course.

| I also agree Tim Smith has been a real problem for us.
Yes he's talented and has a nice pass but hes game management is lacking.
And we don't have the players to complement him.
We have lost better players then him in the past.
I hope we bring in some new halfbacks in the off season plus it frees up an overseas spot for a top quality signing.
I think it's a good bit of business by Mr Carter although his hand may have been forced.
Anyone know how much we got for him? 150k+?

| I honestly can't see us bringing in anyone. We will go with wildie sykes and goulding and have all our fingers and toes crossed that we are at least 3rd from bottom. We need to change our way of thinking and put more money into retaining the great u16s at the club. Get the best on 6 year deals and do a Leeds or Wigan and bring through quality home grown players.
