I was just thinking Whitaker, I remember as a kid people saying he was poor.

What about Glenn Tomlinson?

Okay...I've put Whitaker in at 7 but personally thought Tomlinson went well for us ??

Yet was a kiwi test player around the time , which is bizarre

Chris Mortimer, came with a huge reputation and was useless

Tomlinson was unlucky with badly broken leg and never hit his true potential. Where as Whitaker was just dreadful.

Tomlinson took a lot of flak but set up plenty of scores for others during that 1st season. I think they call them assists these days.

Scrum half. Personally i’d rate him below Whittaker just. Tomlinson i thought wasn’t great either. Talipeau was a hooker wasn’t he? He’s a call for nine.

Lets not forget Charlie Leaeno either. Most pointless signing we’ve made.

I disagree Leaeno being the most pointless, surely that goes to Proctor?

Gotta throw Ali Lau into the mix here!

For me it has to be Proctor.

It would be unfair for me to say Hickey, as I wasnt in the country during the season he was here.

Also Hickey only played a few games, whereas weve been lumbered with Proctor for the whole season

I thought Isaac John was rubbish for us as well.

Flopped after a bit of hype from his reserve grade run with the warriors.

Don’t think it was a true reflection of how good he was, he went on to play at a much better level that SL and competently as well.

Paul Taylor has to be stand off. Played 20 minutes, knocked on, kicked out on the full and then went off injured. Never played again.

Proctor wasn’t a pointless signing just a poor one. Qe needed someone in his position just not him. Leaeno just wasn’t needed in the first place and then was rubbish when he got here as well.

Didnt he rupture knee ligaments

Think Southerns name on the list is a tad unfair on the chap ,made a name as a good second rower in NRL then get put in as a prop when he gets over here

Think it was his ankle, I was at the game. Expected big things from him. Unfair to have him on this list, maybe in the unluckiest list.

Id agree with you on that.

Although I didn't see all of his games for us, what I did see was someone who tackled hard, and always seemed to win the collision, and I think putting him in at prop, just broke him

Seem to re-call that Southern went okay for a while so have taken him out, so who replaces him at 11 then ??
Have also swapped Siejka to 7 and put Talipeau at 9.

Re Seers, Wiki has him at either fullback, centre or stand-off...can't remember him personally, so where did he play for us ??

Matt Seers started his career at full back then moved to centre. He was rapid and played State of origin.

Played centre for us but I do recall him playing full back atleast once.

He was always in town, a massive let down for us.

I wouldn't put Seers, Benson, O'Neil or O'brien on there.
