I will admit the 3 years made me raise an eyebrow given he'll be 30 by the time next season starts and his game is all about heads up play and speed off the mark. Given he's a year younger than Miller and many last year were saying we'd already had his best years it seems a little lengthy. Still he's probably the best we can get so thats why we have to offer 'overs' to get them to stay or sign.

I'm pretty sure the 3 years will have been the thing that swung the deal.

| Think this is a strong signing for the club. What other 7’s of his calibre or better then him are we going to seriously attract. No player will go near us with a barge pole at the minute, so him committing to us even though it looks likely we’re heading to the championship shows something about his commitment too. He’s a very good player who requires a solid half back partner. He’s had Gaskell, Smith and Langi all playing at the side of him this year, not to mention a multitude of different FB’s. I think this is a great realistic signing.

| Comedy gold are the Wakey lot , moan when yet another spurious rumour gets out that Lino is leaving a sinking ship , then turn it in its head and moan that we’ve re-signed him .Like the lad a lot ,and must be like playing with one arm tied behind his back with all the partners he’s had and the spine constantly changing around him . Get him playing behind a dominant pack with a settled team around him and he’ll prove his worth I’m sure

| Indifferent about this one because it appears we need a new pack & spine to make it work, of which i agree but who will we attract with our non budget & reputation.I think he gives every game but as others have said 3yr deal when carter leaving, how safe is applegarth if there is a takeover?.Just harks back to carter\chester tying us to a player somebody else may not want (lineham/gaskell) if the coaching set up changes

| Lino will be a great SH if we can get a good enough SO to play alongside him.
Miller wasn't consistent enough to mould a good half back pairing with Lino - IMO, Since then he's had numerous makeshift SO's - all barely championship standard - so he's on his own at HB!
He's quick off the mark and doesn't shirk his tackling, and on his day a great goal kicker.
Good signing and hopefully a key to others following!

| I am one of the bogger critics of the current board and coaches but I think this is good news, he is the only player we have with any creative spark and his effort has been there for all to see. I think it is a bit unfair people having a go at him for this season as all the opposition know that everything goes through him and that don't need to worry about any of our other players. I think you could have Cameron Munster in his position and I dont think we would be much better off.
It does concern me that Applegarth still seems to be making long term decisions however when it is clear for all to see that he is out of his depth.

Miller, Smith, Gaskell, Jowitt, Langi - all tried along side him and all seemed the issue but Lino has been the constant. Maybe it’s his play style that the other half’s struggle with? It is a little bit Leo-Latu esque if anyone remembers him. Good player but nobody had a clue what he was going to do (even him).
I’m not saying all those halves were good though. Just that it’s always the other halfback that’s no good no matter who that it it seems.
I’m still sceptical but hopefully Lino comes up with the goods. I don’t want him leading the team round the park though. He needs to be the supporting half, hopefully Gale adds that or Smith can have greater influence when called upon as he gets more game time.

It's just the way it is. Fox and Steadman or Deacon and Paul worked really well.
Fox and Deacon wouldn't and even worse Steadman and Psul.......and our Steadman and Paul are a quantum leap of less quality.
Ironically I think Gaskill is the best fit for Lino, he's just not up to the role. A younger Gale would be great. Not sure how older Gale will go.
But whether we kept Miller and lost Lino or visa versa, they both need a Finn.

Spot on much like how we saw the best out of Tim Smith in 2012 and 13 after Paul Sykes came in.

| To be honest I am surprised but in a good way because he was one of the few merchantable players who would be in demand. I thinks this says a lot about him as a person to stick with us knowing that he is more likely to face a period in the Championship.

I'm glad Gale is here, but I don't think we should be looking to build a team around him and Lino for the long term beyond this season. We need to be looking at getting some younger talent in who can learn from that pairing to take us forward into next season and further

| I do only see Gale as a short term solution, and do expect him to take a more longer term role in the back room staff.
Lets hope that they can forge a partnership at least in the short term.
Right now, try as he might, he has been the one constant in the spine of the squad, and we haven't to be fair, created a great deal. I get that he needs someone decent to play alongside, but he's supposedly had that in Miller, and for the two years that partnership was going, he flattered to deceive.
At the moment, though its good to see a bit of continuity, and showing faith, it is also a bit of a risk

| I have been a bit critical of Lino's consistency but happy with the contract extension. It just seems to bring a little bit of stability to the club when everything seemed to be collapsing around us.
