Quote ="Scarlet Pimpernell"It’s strange when we sign players with a chequered history you say he is just the type of player for us but when they sign elsewhere then they come with too much baggage. A lot depends on the coaches ability to control and get the best out of each player. I have seen him play in the NRL and most of his on field problems results from him rushing in to defend his brother.
I guess we will see who makes the greater impact a 19 year old who has been at several clubs in his short time in the game or an experienced NRL centre. I would remind you that so far WP has only been allowed to sign a project from London recovering from a long term injury and a young lad from Leeds. The rest were signed by Chester unfortunately WP has also lost 11 players from last years squad.'"
Micheal Maguire is a very similar disciplinarian to Brian Mac.
He didn’t want him anywhere near his club, neither did anyone else in the NRL or SL despite his talent.
The more successful clubs talk about culture. Getting the culture right.
The last thing Wakey need is issues within a culture that probably cost the last coach his job.
We need to build a culture which we seemed to lay the foundations during WP’s short reign.
I’m not going into details but from what I’ve been told, and I’ve no reason to doubt it, this bloke isn’t a nice guy or a guy you want around your club if you want a settled rota of players.
I love him as a player but there is more to it than that, and it’s no coincidence that in his prime with his talent nobody wanted to touch him with a barge pole.
