Quote ="BackSeatCoach"Genuine comment here, but don't you actually need passing foot traffic to increase the exposure? I know it's lockdown but Trinity Walk is dead.'"
Fair comment on TW, but things are opening up. This all stemmed from the WAFC digital advert going into Wakefield on the A61, that has plenty of passing traffic and schools and traffic lights so people sit there spending 1-2 minutes staring at nothing other than the billboard. Ultimately it's about creating awareness, keeping the club in the mindset of potential support, because its not cut and dry that x amount of money spent on this will bring in x amount of extra punters it's a hard one to justify to a cash strapped club, particularly when an accountant by trade is running matters
For me the below image with the Coming Soon, Be Ready and all the hashtag malarkey would be immense but I accept it would have to form part of a wider campaign as its not clear what its promoting.

Ok, folks the Trinity Walk screen, which IMHO is far and away the best one is a non-starter as far as I can see. For two weeks you don't get much change from 4k!!! It's also booked up for months although I got the impression they couldn't have been less interested in us. I honestly think that's a waste of some serious money that the club could use elsewhere, just my opinion.
Anyway, I've looked at the alternatives for our budget and I've come up with this. I think it's much better value for money and will make more hits.
15,000 A5 leaflets printed and delivered for £975 if we can get that high. I've not run any of this past the club but for me, it's a no-brainer. Needs to be done for the first match where there are no Covid restrictions IMO or it's a bit pointless.
I'd suggest we target residential areas where the demographic have some interest, Eastmoor, Sandal, Walton, Crofton, Sharlestone, Stanley, Lupset etc. If we can go up to £1,265 (you could add Normanton, Wrenthorpe, Outwood etc) but I'm sure people at the club would have a better idea.
Obviously any other suggestions welcome.
I'm also willing to chuck in for free 200 A3 posters and a downloadable A4 version if the club is interested and people are willing to distribute them.
https://www.leaflet-media.co.uk/wakefield
I've mocked up a rough idea, not sure if they are double-sided and if they are it might only be black and white but assuming they are.
Is everyone happy for me to pursue this idea instead?

| for me this is a great idea. targeting all those new houses on Neil Fox way would be a great start. If people could distribute targeted areas, it is also a great way to exercise in the current climate. count me in

If there was an option for digital marketing I think that is definitely the way to go Vasty, I have seen a lot of backlash on Organisations recently from the eco brigade when receiving advertisements through the post printed on paper, also whilst ever Covid is around having someone going door to door with leaflets could be frowned upon by some, just trying to think reputationally for the club, it`s in now way my opinion by the way!
Have we looked at other digital advertising opportunities around the city and the cost associated with them? I agree on the Trinity Walk point, 4K is well inflated in my opinion, especially in current circumstances, it`s a shame they aren't more open to form a partnership with the club with some of the businesses in the city, I think there would be a great deal in it for both parties.

| The best way to get to the younger audience nowadays is to get someone with a ton of followers on twitter / instagram, that they all follow like sheep, to "advertise" the product via their channels. Being an older fart who doesn't bother with social media I believe they are called "influencers".
I don't believe older style advertising, as good as what has been shown on here is, would really hit home with the younger generation this day and age.

Frankly, I don't give a monkey about the eco lobby, sorry but I don't nor do I think there is anything wrong with leafleting when done correctly, sorry but I think you're being a bit super woke here. I also seriously doubt people with those levels of whatever they are, are ever likely to be RL fans. Paper is about as eco friendly as you can get.
Again it's not up to me but sometimes I think we forget that the old ways are some times the best, I'm pretty sure the club already has a handle on most forms of marketing considering the amount I receive.
Again again, if you don't like the idea take your name off the list, it's your choice, I won't hold it against you. However, for those who do like it then its an option and if the club like it, it's a goer.
As for other option then no because frankly, I don't think they are worth the effort or will have the impact. If you want to feel free, I'd suggest our budget will be around £950.
Also, feel free all the same to find other options and I'm not being catty but actual ideas with costs etc.
I'm more than happy to pass the baton on this one trust me but if you want me to sort it then that's my recommendation and I don't have the time or inclination to look any further. As I say I'm not being huffy but that's my offer, thanks.

Aye! who said we were after younger fans? I didn't. Fans are fans regardless of age and in my opinion, there is as much potential in families and older people as kids.
I'm 58 yet I'm the one pushing this! On a personal note, I'm getting a bit sick and tired of this young person first mentality.
I'm sure that's not how you meant it but it certainly sounds a bit blinkered. We have to target everyone and huge amounts of people can't abide social media.
As I say, that's the offer I'm making. Anybody who doesn't like it is totally entitled to remove their pledge, no complaints from me, I utterly respect that.
I accept the brief has changed from the first post so fair doo's, if someone can raise 4k they can have my £25 pounds but I'm not pursuing it as I think its a waste of time and money as are all the other alternatives on offer IMHO.
Just a thought, if we could raise 4k that would go a long way to another signing which in my opinion would be a far better way to use that sort of cash, just a thought.

I don`t give a monkeys either to be fair, but I`m not responsible for Wakefield Trinity and the reputation of the club am I? I am just aware that from correspondence with my partners organisation who are partnered with the the club on a community based project that the club was reluctant to distribute paper based leaflets out for a community project they were involved in.
Unfortunately heading up an organisation, you have to put your snowflake head on sometimes Vasty, a sad reflection of the times we live in and the "cancel culture" generation, on a personal level I am far from Woke, probably as far from woke as you can get, I love the Ben Shapiro "Facts not feelings" model. Just throwing it out there Sustainability is top of the agenda for a lot of organisations right now.
I have a friend who has just advertised his business around some hotspots in Leeds and he is as tight as they come so I will have a word and see if there is anything he is willing to share with me, I will feedback if I get anything out of him
I wont withdraw my money by the way whatever the model is we go with, I will go with whatever the majority proposal is, or what direction the club want to go in.

Ok, I won't discuss any further, I'll just add up the pledges by the end of next and I'll take the figures to the club (though MC already knows I suspect) and I'll make my suggestion, I'll also mention that Digital still seems a favoured option by some and leave it up to them.
If we can get it up to the £600 mark at least I'm sure they can find something useful to do with it, with or without our suggestions

| I think just leave it for the club to work out how best to use the money imo. From past marketing they have done I'm sure they will have a better idea of what works and what doesn't.
Maybe they will do another free entry for NHS staff, that would be a nice gesture after everything that has gone on.

If that were true then we wouldn't be running this thread would we? The club get plenty of cash from me to do with as they please. This was a parallel idea I think?
I know Homme Vast has probably killed it off though so I guess we'll just go and buy another hoody or something.

Nah, I'm still up for it. Let's see how much we get and what they say next week.

| OK folks, whatever the club decide to do I think we need to be around about the £800 mark, if we can get to that I reckon they would make up any minor shortfall.
We are at £500 by my reckoning, which is absolutely brilliant but we need another 12 pledges to make that figure,
So this weekend can anyone who's not already done so can they put their names down if they wish to do so. Also if any of you can give a nudge to any forum members they know who don't visit often to please take a look.
Thanks

| A very noble idea Vasty, but it seems a very sad and sorry state of affairs, if the club are having to rely on fans, to provide the backing for marketing. Feels like my time as a treasurer at a local amateur sports club back in the day.
It all seems a bit amateur by the club, but not the poster's who are willing to take a chance and part with a bit of brass.
Good luck with it though.

I'm also willing to chuck in for free 200 A3 posters and a downloadable A4 version if the club is interested and people are willing to distribute them.

Hope it goes well Vasty, the leaflet drop was one idea I put to the board back in 2016, targeting areas of the city that weren’t selling very well, and also new build estates.
Leaflet drops was one way I used to promote my business which I started back at the end of 2019, which has grown steadily, and this has been quite successful for me, and if season tickets get sold, it will make back its money

I've mocked up a rough idea, not sure if they are double-sided and if they are it might only be black and white but assuming they are.
Is everyone happy for me to pursue this idea instead?

Hope it goes well Vasty, the leaflet drop was one idea I put to the board back in 2016, targeting areas of the city that weren’t selling very well, and also new build estates.
Leaflet drops was one way I used to promote my business which I started back at the end of 2019, which has grown steadily, and this has been quite successful for me, and if season tickets get sold, it will make back its money

| Quote ="Travelling Wilbury"A very noble idea Vasty, but it seems a very sad and sorry state of affairs, if the club are having to rely on fans, to provide the backing for marketing. Feels like my time as a treasurer at a local amateur sports club back in the day.
It all seems a bit amateur by the club, but not the poster's who are willing to take a chance and part with a bit of brass.
My view is that it's something extra that fans can contribute with. No different from buying a shirt or joining Trin TV.
Only Shudds are in the position where one man virtually bank rolls the whole organisation.

| Let's go for it. Great way for fans to support the club in a not expensive but significant way.

Good luck with it though.'"
Under normal circumstance I’d agree but Covid has denied us normal.
The club did have a promotions budget and now they don’t, it’s that simple.
Also again due to Covid people are now out of the habit of attending games. The hope is that most will be chomping at the bit to return but we can’t bank on it, so any little reminder should help.
You make a good point regarding your days as the treasurer of a local club. We as fans of Trinity have to accept that of all the SL clubs we are the least like a business. We are run in a very business style no doubt but to my eyes they are not the same.
We simply do not have the infra structure, the financial backing or enough local support to be a real going concern in the way Leeds are for example.
We are getting there but slowly and to say Covid has dented our progress is a huge understatement.
For now the club exist in limbo, a kind of semi pro. Some bits of the club are so professional they are the envy of others. Some bits would seem very familiar to those running amateur clubs.
I honestly think we are on the final stretch now but we will need the help of fans to make the final hurdles whether we like it or not. It’s a big ask considering how much crap Trinity fans have had to put up with but as they say it’s always darkest before the dawn.
I honestly don’t blame anyone from holding back but I also believe in unlocking the potential of those who do want to help.
One last point, Trinity still belongs to the fans, one of the few clubs that does. It’s not the play thing Of a wealthy man or a cash cow for the egos of a group of rich men. MC and JM are more like stewards who as far as I can tell is only wish to hand the club back in a much better condition than they found it. I’m happy to support that.

| if I can arrange some way of sending the money from abroad,- then I'm in for £25
I assume it will be timed to coincide with the first fixture which has tickets on open sale rather than limited to season ticket holders.
Do you have any idea when this is likely to be?
Is it possible to reward those who actually use the flyer to gain entry?
