Over 50 NRL games in a 3 year period between 2016-2019 (23 NRL games in 2016-2017) but last season only played a couple of NRL games similar to the number played by Lino...
Late developer like Gavet and made NRL debut when 26...with lots more NRL experience than David Fifita...

| As long as he's a prop with enough quality to guarantee a start and enough durability to stay fit, I don't care who it is, as it'll keep Kelepi in the second row.

Sorry but I really don’t get how 54 games over a ten year career counts as loads of NRL experience! That’s five games a season.
That makes Crowther a SL veteran!
Sorry but he strike me as exactly one of those players who will take us absolutely nowhere.
Of course I could be wrong but I’d put a fiver on him being anonymous at best.'"
Hard to gauge appearances really. Fifita was 27 when he came over, but had only played 19 times in the NRL, and Arona, similar age when he came over, but played 69 games.
Personally though, think we need to sort the front rowers before we look at second row.

Joe Bullock is another example. Seeing out his career at Barrow until Wigan got him. Now, a year ago if most people were offered a choice between George Burgess and a Barrow prop, most people would pick Burgess. Now, Burgess wouldn't get a look in.
At prop, it's about attitude and application. Bullock applied himself and went for it and got the rewards. I'm suspecting Burgess thought he could cruise into retirement and got found out.
See also Pauli Pauli for a bad example.
See also Eddie Battye for a good example.
Attitude and application, as simple as that. As long they come with that, they'll do fine.

Similar stat to Kelepi Tanginoa 33 games in six years, and he hasn't turned out too bad. You could be right and we've certainly had one or two over the years who have been a touch anonymous. But such is the size of the player pool in Australia there's bound to be some that can't get a game there but will go well here. Just glad I'm not making the decisions.

Normally I’m open minded bu Tanginoa is 26 this guy is 30 and played most of his career in the deep reserves. Tanginoa had played more games, most at top level and at a top club.
Prop is one position we’ve had little luck at when it comes to Aussies, Fifita and Korky then it starts to get a bit dodgy and both of those were total speculators. To me these guys are the definition of journeymen if such a thing truly exists. I’d hate to think they are taking the place of young British players busting a gut on the fringes of top teams or championship sides. I really don’t think these players are any better than the Battyes of this world.
Academic any way at the moment and if we did sign him I’d give him my support.

That is my point, 26 is late and it was for the Titans mainly and even there he doesn’t appear to have been a star.
I know the limitations of the club when it comes to recruits but I can’t help but think there are better younger NRL players desperate for a chance. Players you could builds a team around over a few seasons.
Just how I see it, I really think the NRL is thin pickings these days, Lino looks a bit of a freak due to his skill set so worth a punt. We are not that short of straight running props.

Lino is a player the U.K. game is short of, he’s knocking at an open door. Run of the mill props are not in short supply.
As for Fifita no comparison, if you remember he came on a trial basis, the potential was obvious but we all knew that was a gamble, we were lucky.
Apart from being big this guy doesn’t press any buttons for me.

There are loads of these players, remember Paul Jackson, a nowt player when we got him yet imho pound for pound one of the best ever. England was another and I reckon I could find a dozen more who’ve just joined us with little reputation and done the business.

Not all props but all fringe players.
Some didn’t shine for long and not all were brilliant but all gave better service for far less than most reputation Aussie props.
They are out there and these days I recon we’d keep most of them.

To be honest, never really got the love of Richard Moore or Michael Korkidas, yes effort was there, but a handling error or penalty conceded from either was never far away

I can see where TW and yourself are coming from, Moore did give penalties away especially the sending off against newly promoted HKR, but both gave their all for Trinity and nice kids as well.
