The police had no problems with mounted police charging and thousands of riot police available To prevent protests by the miners, police were able to setup roadblocks in the early hours of the morning To prevent miners Traveling to sites to make a protest, the police had no problems making false statements to the courts, to get innocent miners convicted. The police can control movement of people whenever they need to. There is an obvious discrimination going on here.

Perhaps rather than trying to score political points as usual, you point your fingers at all the bell-ends who have been protesting on the streets and will inevitably cause the R rate to increase and then the number of deaths.

If you want to quote 1980's legislation crack on, had the law not changed that is what would have happened but the law has changed for the better because of incidents you describe also including other high profile inquiries that have occurred but they are all pretty well known leading to Police and judicial reform but hey ho you stick to the 80s.

Oh and just to contextualise policing during the miners strike involved mutual aid hence the police numbers the local protests do not appear to have involved mutual aid so have been policed locally if it carries on then this will change.

You were quick to blame the protesters for a potential second spike; I was merely pointing out that there have been large amounts of people flouting the rules beforehand. In the end, the Government have never taken lockdown seriously - just how look at how quick they went from “stay at home, protect the NHS” to “stay alert, control the virus”.

That’s the thing - they didn’t. They’re quick to condemn the general public but when it’s one of their own....
