Also, I think that we may be trying to negate some of the impact of the Easter fixtures.
By playing Fridays in the fortnight leading up to Easter, it should (slightly) reduce fatigue levels.

Most of the bigger clubs who use Friday as "matchday" also suggest that Friday is the best day to tap into the corporate stuff, as sponsors can bring their guests straight from work etc.
No as good for getting kids /families there, although at least it's not a school night AND it leaves the rest of the weekend free

It's funny i see it totally different Saturday evening's give you more time in the week to organiser Staff /friends etc for a Saturday corporate event, Them having all day (sat) to get ready for the lovely evening event coming and have a pre-event drink somewhere that's how i do my events.

In my experience, the corporate bit was best done on a Friday night - so it doesn't impact on the weekend; since for most people, RL is not an all day event - some weirdos actually have other interests!

On a personal note, I like a Friday night game - sets up nicely for a few scoops afterwards.

Like i said to Wrencat i see it totally different, Saturday when the Wendyball isn't on from end of may you could make it a totally new experience for hopefully new fans to come on a Saturday instead of having to rush home from work on Friday's rush hour traffic, Compared with a Saturday where you have all day to spuce up and enjoy the event and go round the town afterwards.

Must admit I prefer Thursday or Friday as it leaves the whole weekend free.

I prefer Thursday/Friday nights especially in summer.

FWIW I think on a Friday you gain on home support lose in away. In the case of Hudds this can only be a benefit. Wigan fans use to travel in numbers but not anymore. So I’m guessing we don’t lose out in that respect so back to the corporate angle for me.

Friday is also less disruptive for preparation, with games being selected for Sky, trips to France and the fact that the majority of other clubs now seem to play on Fridays.
Having said that, getting "over the hill" for any evening kick offs is a real pain in the booty and you would expect less support from the "Lancashire" clubs if we moved to Fridays.
On the plus side, it opens up the weekend to host other stuff at BV, which could be a "win" for the club , in terms of additional income ?
Although Wakefield's attendances are increasing gradually, it becomes ever harder for fans to follow the side to all home and away games, which is a real shame.
I guess times have changed and it's all about "maximising revenue" rather than providing entertainment for the masses.

Sunday's game v Salford probably had a reduced crowd due to Mothering Sunday and maybe would have been a better Friday fixture as well.

That was exactly why I didn't attend - I did offer to take her, but the old dear was only interested when Big Neil was playing; she said "they're crap now and they all look like yobbos." Hey ho.

I am guessing the next 2 Fridays were scheduled with the Easter period in mind, baring in mind we play on Thursday 18th last thing we would want to do is schedule a game for the Sunday which in turn has a knock on effect for the game this Friday.

You can buy a ticket at the ticket kiosk outside the ground which will be open on game day right up to kick off although they go up a few quid on game day.

Just out of interest CAN All of you that have posted saying you prefer Thursday or Friday's games (this is not a dig well it is really) to tell me what hours of work you all do, Is it that you all work Mon to Friday 9-5 jobs and if so i can see the reason's for it, But in the real world like myself people work SHIFTS 6 -2am/2.10pm /10-06pm and a lot work 12hr shifts and it's a fking pain in the arise to keep on changing shifts or putting Holiday's in to come to games in the week so that's where i'm coming from.

So my original point about playing Saturday is based on that notion where we would have all day Saturday to get ready and sort out our Glam rag's for the night event and this includes corporate as well but eh it's all about options isn't it.
