| We get the ground and superbowl area.
Whether someone made money out of it is a discussion for another day as no one knows the details.
It's the closest we've been to an improved stadium for a looong time.

| This is great news
Wakefield to own the ground again as well as the Super Bowl land
Plus mc in charge
It’s a shame we are having to pay more than what it would have cost when mc originally wanted to buy it which is down to Rodney Walker
we are where we are though and this is great news for the club

Probably just middle men, taking a loan out themselves on behalf of the club.

| I’ll reserve my final judgement but on the face of it I’m not particularly elated!
Unlike many I’m not impressed by the owners performance throughout this debacle and now we’ve abandoned the fight for what was promised which included the provision of multiple sporting facilities for the Wakefield public.
I’ll wait for more detail but it looks like we are now in debt to the council to the tune of £3.5 million with no funds for redevelopment. York Court seem to have walked away without paying a penny, I hope that’s not the case and that some future announcement is coming detailing them fully funding a completely new stadium and not just a wash and brush up.
Sorry to poop at the party

Glad we are doing something now, rather than waiting then getting kicked out of SL. Times not on our side and we’d be waiting forever to get what we were promised by York Court.

| Give me belle view any day with all its wonderful memories and atmosphere over a souless stadium
I trust Carter and company to deliver us a stadium which will be fit for purpose over the coming years.
The first part of the jigsaw has fallen into place, the ground will be back in our hands soon .
Now is not the time to moan and be negative even before we fully know what’s happening
Carter and co need our support now more than ever as we embark on a new era at belle view , one that hopefully we will be in control of for the first time in years .

| Some take a perverse pleasure in being negative. If Phil Townsend can identify positives in this news that will do for me.
He is obviously more knowledgeable about the situation than the holier than thou doom mongers.

| Forget Newmarket and a shiny new stadium, it ain’t happening. The damage is already done.
It’s been years since the start of Newmarket and we’ve gone backwards since. Yes we were promised a community stadium for greenbelt land but due to the council and whoever else involved with the lateral agreement or whatever it was it’s no longer possible. IMHO Yorcourt have played a blinder, I don’t think they’ve legally done anything wrong, it’s the people involved at the time who need stringing up.
Move on and accept we are getting a phased Belle Vue development

Indeed, it was MC himself that proposed this type of loan some while ago.
This is definitely tangible progress and we just have to hope thet it is the first step along the way to having a community stadium that FINALLY the City and Trinity can be proud of.

| If this is just to buy the land then it’s a good deal for 88M, thats about it. Where is the development money going to come from? And please don’t say Yorkcourt as that ain’t going to happen! Think we need to see more flesh on the bones of this announcement.
Still i suppose it’s good news that we are now back to where we were 11 years ago when Ted flogged the ground before the funds dried up.

| Great result if true, but what assets are you putting forwards to take out a loan of £3.5 million? If The Old Girls and the surrounding land is worth that then I apologise in advance.

| 88M have their heads screwed on! Buy the whole shebang for a song, get planning permission for housing, retail and leisure, site now worth three million! Its folk like this that messed with the money markets a bit since that caused a bit of a kerfuffle!

| IMO it's great news we're to stay at BV. Never wanted NM, which to me would have been long term disaster for the club.
Let the council chase up YC, as they have indicated, for community facilities, we can now go ahead and concentrate on improving.
Unlike others on here, I see this as a massive positive and fully trust MC and Co in what they are doing. They have a bit of experience don't they?
As for the present owner of BV ? Can't type it here!
Let's just get the ground back where it belongs!

| It's great news, and I'm sure there are other things going on in the background. We won't be any worse off, as the loan repayments will be the same as the current rent (I remember MC saying that was the reason why it was sensible), with the only risk being that we end up in the Championship and be unable to pay the loan payments, which is why I think there are other things happening. With that risk-factor, Im sure we'd just rent, with a fall-back position of sharing with, say, Dewsbury.
I suspect the other pieces will now fall into place.
There are some sour tastes. Manni has made a big profit because the club was told not to bid. Yorkcourt may well end up contributing a lot less than promised. But at least we'll have made progress, and you can't everything.

| This is good news, it is the best result from a bad situation. It is a massive relief as the club now will have security of tenure. The club no longer has the nightmare of Manni been able to do what he likes with the land ie kick us out, put the rent up, put a travelers camp in the car park etc etc. Imagine how much better it looks to SL now with Trinity owning the land. The vote to turn down the Knitware application at Newmarket has really concentrated the Councils minds. Make no mistake that was a crucial turning point in the sorry mess of the Newmarket scandal. Its amazing that because this mess was created by the Councils incompetence ie the public sector there will not be anyone held accountable. If this was the private sector heads will roll. We know that Yorkcourt never had any intention of building a Community Stadium at Newmarket, from day 1 they had Walker and Box assisting them and you have got to wonder way Box and Walker were so helpful, I mean the scam they pulled in getting the Newcold fridge built and it not counting towards the trigger point for the Community Stadium was unbelievable. Remember it was Walker and Box who told the club not to bid on BV when Manni bought it as they wanted Yorkcourt to buy it. Yorkcourt made a silly low bid and Manni jumped in and bought the lot. Again this was what Yorkcourt, Box and Walker wanted to happen, they felt it would be the end of the pesky club. They had not reckoned on the tenacity of MC and the Walkerless Trust. So then Yorkcourt are eventually forced to show their hand and publicly have to state that they have no intention of building a Community Stadium and because the Council messed up the the 106 agreement they are not legally required to do so. Then the Knitware application goes in and the legal advice is that it has to be approved, indeed at the planning hearing the councils solicitor instructed the councilors on the planning to approve the Knitware application and the silly Chairwomen, Councillor Picking also fought tooth and nail to get it approved. This was Yorkcourt`s , Box and Walkers plan, once Knitware was approved their job was done, the Newmarket site would get fully developed and Yorkcourt would not have to put a single penny towards any Community facilities. Worst of all there was nothing the club / trust could do and Manni would then realize that nothing was going to be forth company from Yorkcourt to enable a BV redevelopment and he would then kick us out. So turning down the Knitware application was a monumental result for us. What it meant was that if Yorkcourt appealed the decision then there would be some sort of inquiry into the whole Newmarket planning history and then all the Council incompetence , Yorkcourt collusion with Council and Walker would come to light. So Councils minds were concentrated and a solution had to be found in order for them to avoid an inquiry at all costs. An inquiry would not have got us a stadium. This I believe is the reason the council has suddenly found a way forward, all I can say is well played MC and the Trust you have brilliantly played a poor hand, dealt to you by the Council, Walker and Yorkcourts duplicity and incompetence . I am guessing that the Council will believe that once BV is purchased of Manni, they will be able to get a deal done with Yorkcourt for them to have planning at Newarket, perhaps even a new 106 that guarantees some monies for development of BV.

| Call me a doom-monger if you like, but this is a really crap outcome when we consider what was campaigned for and promised; anyone remember the lovely drawings of a shiny community stadium? Gone. The drawings of a redeveloped BV? Gone.
The winners her are YCP, 88M and Rodney Walker, who will no doubt have received some form of consideration for his role in allowing 88M to make millions for doing nowt, and getting YCP off the hook.
Watch the Kitwave thing get waved through now, and as if by magic, developments at Newmarket will come thick and fast - meanwhile, we'll be grubbing round trying to find money to tart up BV - fending off criticism from citizens who will perceive this as WMDC chucking money at a minority interest at a time when infrastructure and public services are slashed to the bone; it's already started on Twitter and will only get worse.
Anyone celebrating this is experiencing Stockholm Syndrome - we've been had.

| As TRB has said, this is the first positive outcome we have had, on the back of Kitwave getting turned down.
My congratulations go to all those involved in their tenacity in getting us to this crucial stage and whilst it is too early to crack open the champagne just yet, it appears that we are finally going in the right direction rather than backwards or round in circles, as we have been for the past few years
