Whichever is most likely
And as long as the redevelopment is descent I'd be happy at Belle Vue..... But a big new stadium would be nice if its affordable.

Tbh I think both sets of fans would accept anything that will at least keep us in SL. We have to be realistic.
I’ll tell you what though, if it is true and it is BV I’d love to hear the explanation as to why the most obvious post NM solision has taken four times longer and I suspect ten times as costly to happen.
Local gov is a disgrace, it actually makes central government look ethical. That’s all parties by the way before Redcat blows a fuse

| Where the he'll is jeopordy, so much seems to be happening there ?
On a serious note, I like all of you, would like a full new stadium, but if a return of Belle Vue is to be the chosen outcome then as I have said before, please don't accept piece meal - a bit at a time over three or four close seasons as that would be disasterous, monies for what ever reason, evaporating/ no longer available etc.
We would need a full four side refurb undertaken in one close season + one full season vacated & one further close season to ensure one full contract build & completion at agreed costs - no slippage a term used in building contracts. We must be wise this time ! ??
This is not impossible, saints had a full new stadium built in this time duration !
I do hope a new stadium gets the go ahead & not a low budget couple of sides - stands -- etc
A full contract is required - water tight to prevent the council & partners pulling out !
Up the Trin.

I'm not in the habit of jumping to Mr Box' defence - but how can he rubber stamp a £20 million pound stadium, unless he has £20 million down the back of his sofa?
Popular as it is to scapegoat Box - I think he's done all he can for them by way of planning permission and brokering partnerships with a developer - the rest is down to money, and if the developer can't fund it, they won't build anything.

| Quote ="newgroundb4wakey"I held off from posting this as I was sure some one else would as it seems to be good news. In last weeks League Express Martyn Sadler's column carried the headline "Good news for Wakefield". In it he said "The really good news will hopefully come out in the new year. I'm told there have been some productive talks about the potential redeveloped stadium at Belle Vue
And although there is still some work to do, the prospects now look more promising than they have done for some time.
At the moment I can't say any more than that."
It then gets a little confusing as he starts talking about a new stadium rather than a re-developed one.
"But if we do finally get the go ahead on a new stadium for Wakefield at some point in the New Year, it will surely qualify as one of the most significant moments of 2019".
[uWhat puzzles me is that if Martyn Sadler knows then surely the trust or some one at the club would know and would want to share the good news.[/u'"
The trust and/or the club don't have to sell newspapers?

I'm the same. Even if there is good news, there is a lot of talking and hot air in our future before I can sit in my new shiny seat and watch Brough kick the game off in a new stadium. More likely to be Broughy's grandson kicking off.

It would be good and I may be wrong but can’t see a full redevelopment if we stay at Belle Vue. I reckon if we buy back BV it will be staged development to make it SL standard. Beggars can’t be choosers unfortunately, I may be wrong.

I think your missing the point here, if there is some delicate negotiations going on then the club or the trust would be honour bound not to discuss any details, where as Mr Martyn has no such responsibility and whether true or false he does what he does best and that's provide snippets of information to help sell his papers, hope that's cleared any confusion regarding my post, if it all happens I hope you get a fantastic surprise if you ever walk into the new ground having dismissed all the rumours that will no doubt be circulating as these rumours grow irrespective as to where they've come from

| Regarding stadia, I've always wondered why BV is considered to be so poor we are docked funding from Sky, where WR is just as bad if not worse, I think they've only just got one more roof and nicked more car seats.
Imagine after all the squawking of kicking Wakefield out, BV gets redeveloped and Cas' new ground never materialises, will people be calling for Cas to get kicked out?

It’s a quite ludicrous punishment and always has been. It’s like taking food off a starving man.
I don’t know the figure but surely a more sensible option would have been to withhold the balance every season until such time as there was enough cash set by to help fund a worthwhile infra structure project at BV.
As I say I have no idea on the figure involved or how long it’s been going on but I suspect it’s not an insubstancial amount.
It’s seems very unfair to penalise us especially as the on field product has always been exciting if not always skilful. After all we gave them their first million pound game!
My idea seems fair as it both punishes and helps - I’d like to see how the right on brigade argue against that

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that Cas & wakey are both “fined” for having sub-standard grounds.

Correct. It`s just everyone always highlights Wakefield for some reason, never got it either as WR is just as bad if not worse IMO. Does anyone have any idea on the difference in covered seating between our East Stand and there east stand? Wikipedia has some figures on there but don`t quite trust them!

| Wakefield City, if it were to be re developed and bought back and re vamped over time, say one side over each close season, would it be a bad thing. 4 sides, four winters, and fully operational 2023.
How long have we been waiting for Newmarket exactly?
I have also said it before, and will again, the only way I can see a new stadium built this side of Heath Common, could depend on Ossett United and their progress. I passed their ground today prior to match day, and if they continue to develop, can their current ground sustain the crowds that are growing. They applied for some upgrade only this week that that got knocked back.
If we cant provide stadia for Wakefeld, Cas and Ossett, than maybe two have to share

| Anything that keeps us in SL is gonna have to be good enough, however that is achieved. More seats, safe terracing, better toilets & access, whatever is required to tick those important boxes & lets be honest it might look like a dogs dinner but if it’s compliant that’s enough! However nothing has been announced yet & if & when it does let’s hope there’s no strings attached.
Someone on the Cas forum said that they (Wakey) have been fighting for this for a few years now whilst we have sat back & waited for it to be delivered. Let’s hope the SWAG boys get something that rewards their unstinting efforts these last few years!

Why not wait and see before going off on one
It's all rumours anyway but if the figure of 15 million or even half that is correct you'd be looking at a lot more than a bit part re-furb wouldn't you!

Me neither but I do know that even half of 15 million lets say 7 million would tidy BV up quiet nicely - certainly enough to shut up the critics.

Apparently the new peninsula stadium, granted its only 5k capacity was rumoured to have cost about £5 million. Nice little ground google it

The modular stadium builds are apparently relatively easy to extend, although I would prefer the stadium to have at least a 10k capacity from the off. With a better facilities and hopefully (If we keep building the way we have been) some on field success I would seriously hope that are average gate increases in which case 8k for Super League games especially against the likes of Leeds and Cas etc would be easily sold out.
