With that in mind I'd like Wakefield Council to build me a 300 bedroom hotel to let out at £80 per night per room. I'm paying nothing towards building it, pay no rates and keep the £24k per night please.

No one is asking the Council to use ratepayers money to build a stadium and give it away to the club. What is being asked is that the Council enforce the requirements of the Planning Inspector/SoS and make the Developer who made a huge planning gain following the Public Inquiry deliver what was promised at the PI.

Again in case its not clear, The Club/Trust are not asking for ratepayers money to pay for the Stadium.

To be fair at the time these plans came to light Box did state that it would be based on a commercial rent. That has to have been agreed in the meeting with MC & CB, so what has changed?

I'm sure that's fine, but it's on the provision that for 340 days per year, you use the entire hotel as a homeless shelter, you're not allowed to charge them, and you must provide them with food etc all at your own expense from the profit you're allowed to make on the handful of days you can operate it as a hotel...

To be fair to the original poster, t'was me that mentioned the rental figure on another post, just to put a figure on it in order to ask what was going to happen to it when it was received by the charitable trust. I could have suggested £5, £150 k or £300k, I have no more idea than you as to the actual rentals in total from the various tenants.

Quite obviously something very significant otherwise why would MC walk away?

I think the point is, if I understand things correctly that the club have not walked away, the ST has submitted HoT to the council which mirror what box said on public record he would deliver. The council have seen the HoT and don't like them so have run to the press with their cock and bull story.

I believe the trust and club thought they were still in the negotiation phase only to then see the press release when it appeared in the public domain

As a point of note Box never said there would be a 'perfect agreement' for this BV deal, that was about Newmarket back in April. Yorkcourt kyboshed that one with the pointless 'new' HoT and they have no legal requirement or no intention to change the S106 now. For this one Box stated that there would be a commercial rent to pay to a trust. How much and which trust is the key.

Be interesting to know the full facts of what the deal was then. However, the council were able to negotiate a s106 that will see a private entity in cas tigers own a new ground for a quid but seemingly cannot make yorkcourt deliver a community stadium that they promised and appear to have aided and abetted them in avoiding doing the right thing

On a side note I believe Box is 70 now. Surely he must have to retire soon?

I don't think £100k for a revamped BV is that bad considering Trinity were paying £125k to the BOI, however I said a while back the club should accept the terms as council/Yorkcourt would go for an angle where the club are portrayed as the bad guy and sadly this has proved to be the case. Hopefully Michael Carter and the Trust's response will get the same coverage by the local Box mouthpiece.

It's shocking when you consider how much Yorkcourt and 88m stand to make from the deal. Whatever it costs to build the stadium it's fraction on what they will make out of N/M and the BV development.

Even if we do get the stadium where are the other amenities originally promised as part of the agreement. No services to build nothing. Just a stadium that in real cost terms is about 6 million then they have the cheek to ask us to pay to play at a stadium that should rightly be owned by the trust! WMDC nor anyone else should have any say in how much we get charged, only the Trust.
It's so bent it's almost straightened up again. As for the running cost isn't that included in the lease payments which I assume are separate or have I got that bit wrong, must admit it's confusing.
