| Quote ="Trinity1315"1200? That is nothing short of pathetic!
I can't put my finger on why, but there seems to be a general apathy in Wakefield towards supporting Trinity. The city, generally does not deserve a SL team. [uWe have a population of 76k[/u and only 1200 sales! words fail me. MC works wanders with the income he gets. He must really love the club because I wouldn't blame him if he said 'stuff it' and walked.'"
I bet that figure is far higher nowadays as well. It was over 76k in 2001 and we've been building houses like mad in the City since then. Also that figure doesn't include places like Altofts and Normy and Ossett. I bet it's closer to 100k now.
Like others have said there a couple of things that hold that Season ticket sales generally back. The first is the decades of being poor and the relatively recent off field dramas. Realistically, even though the Club have done an awesome job of putting a team together, plus also the re-branding, it's going to take a few back to back seasons of moderate success to get more and more people interested. Then we come to the ground. I know it's something that everyone is very conscious of, but If you're not a hardcore RL fan it's a pretty grim experience, especially if you're bringing the family.
Generally my hope for next season is that we can increase crowds by as much as we increased them last year, 800 or so. If we can say average 5500 fans and have a decent season and then back it up again the year after, there's no reason why we can't get back up to the around 7000. Obviously we've got the ground issues still in the back ground and again this season, that sort of hinders stability in a way.
Personally with work and travel I don't get season tickets and come when I can get to games, which is often not known until the day of the game, unless it's Sundays.

| Quote ="Dreadnaught"We will not get many "new" season ticket holders or indeed walk ups until the stadia is sorted. Rugby League is marketed as a family game, and as we all know Belle Vue is just not Family friendly in the slightest. Poor View, Poor facilities, Times have changed and people want more bang for their buck so to speak, so to shell out £50.00 + for an afternoons entertainment in the summer, I'm afraid Belle Vue is way down the list on most peoples ideas. [uAs said before, we are very good at preaching to the converted, but we offer little, and what little we offer we don't tell anyone about, the next signing we make should be a proven Media . Marketing manager with a budget to work with. I Know MC cannot work miracles, but this area is where some investment is needed.[/u'"
Agree with that. I even know people that used to be regulars not that long ago but are now that far removed from the game they haven't a clue how we're doing, who we've signed or anything, unless I say something. It's people like these and the ones that have never even thought of going to watch a RL game in their City we should be aiming to entice.

| What sickens me off is to walk around Wakefield, Outwood, Ossett etc and seeing people wearing Leeds Rhinos shirts and coats. Walk around Cas ( a similar distance from Leeds) and everybody, even their cats are wearing Cas gear. I'll give the Cas fans one thing; they're people who really identify with their local team. Do we still send representatives of the club out to the schools with free ticket offers, and could we get the Council to reintroduce the scheme where employees could by tickets through their salaries? Mind you, knowing Box probably not.

| Vastman.
Further to you mentioning a 10 game season ticket.
I suggested one similar on here and forwarded it to the club a while ago.
It was less than 10 what I suggested but was mainly to try to bring fans back in and introduce new ones without making the financial commitment of a full season ticket. I think I suggested 5 because that way if you got one and was happy with what you were seeing you could then get another in the same season

| Quote ="vastman"This one is specifically aimed at Mr Carter AKA Daddycool.
It’s probably to late for this season but I have a suggestion for season tickets.
I would love to buy a season ticket but it’s simply impractical as I can’t get to all the home games nor do I really know which ones I can make - I go when I can.
On average I manage ten games a season (excluding cup matches). What I would like to suggest is a ten game season ticket. I’m not so much after a big discount it’s more a case of convenience and a way of ensuring I go. It also makes a far more feasible present than a full season ticket.
Basically it’s ten tickets for 10 non specific games - only one ticket per match can be used - price with a slight discount £195 standing. I could justify one of these and if I manage more than 10 games I’ll pay on the day as usual.
Maybe there is some reason this can’t work but i thought it at least worth a suggestion as I reckon they would sell - you could also re-introduce them hallway through the season if we start to do really well.
Thought please.'"
What I would like to do is try and change people's perception of season tickets. Whether you attend 1 game or 14, I would like supporters to consider £249 as the amount they contribute per year to produce a successful, well run, Super League club. Less then £5 a week?
Unfortunately, currently there are not enough people who are actually that bothered in the city of Wakefield. We have a very dedicated small hardcore of supporters and sponsors for whom, I am truly thankful. Would love to know what could be achieved if we had a hardcore as big as hull KR's announced this week. Could certainly spend the full cap!
Finally I also think the ground is a large factor in this. It's a dump and it was truly horrible and cold to work in today. 5 years since the PI and other parties continue to treat us as imbeciles. We will continue the fight to get what is morally correct. How certain people look in the mirror, I will never know.

This is my take on paying up front for a season ticket.
Very hard to get this across when even some "hard core" fans on this Forum still look at the season ticket as essentially a way to save money and get free games.

| Could there be trends within the WF postal areas where general interest in the club may vary.
Obviously I understand that people in the WF10 area for example may be less interested, but say if it is lower in WF4 or 5 could there be some kind of marketing campaign.
Just a thought.

| What baffles me is how little people know about the club on their doorstep. Wakefield Trinity a professional Rugby League team playing in Super League, you'd think it would be the talking point among people in the pubs and clubs, especially after our improved season last year. Or at least people would have some clue. Recently at one of my Quizzes I featured Chris Chester on my themed Picture round (all those pictured had a surname that was a town or city in the UK). Only 2 teams out of 16 knew it, even with the clue to help them. Bear in mind this quiz is held in Wakefield not Dewsbury or Barnsley or another place he might not be as well known and when I gave the answer out there were groans of "who's he"? I was absolutely gobsmacked, I really thought people would know about us but it seems we have work to do to try and raise the profile of the club, I just wish I knew how to help in some way.

| A good season competetive in most matches with some positive stadium news and attendances will grow and grow. We all know the state Belle Vue effects attendances massively for both home a away crowds I don't bring the kids to big matches and know loads who do the same. The lack of stadium progress (not our fault I know) has but doubt of our future and strangled the enthusiasm a lot had for our club, some good stadium news will install confidence in Trinitys future and that enthusiasm will return.
Although this topic has brought up some negativity I've seen a lot of optimism for our great club that I seen pre season in a number of years so hopefully this will continue, name change (dropping Wildcats) has contributed to this everyone is talking about how good our new merchandise is so I predict record sales in that department and squad is looking excellent. I'm looking forward to this season more than ever and optimistic about our great clubs future so are most people I speak to. Please let us get stadium sorted. Up The Trin

That's a bit daft isn't it? Even after the early bird there should always be an incentive to buy a season ticket i.e. cash saving

If other towns teams had 50 plus years of not winning anything playing in a not fit for purpose ground you'd get the same response. Infact a lot would get a lot less support than we get. Don't worry I get a feeling we are turning a corner as a club and awakening the sleeping giant that is Wakefield Trinity all we can do is spread the word.

| I reckon there's lots of reasons why people don't know about it; the game is rarely plugged on local news, the only BBC programme is on late on a monday night (American football does better), Sky seemingly couldn't give a stuff about the clubs/fans but do nothing to plug the game away from the usual fans, most local radio stations don't care, the local newspaper doesn't care, other clubs have a terrible perception of us/the ground, the ground is a dump in a particularly unpleasant part of Wakefield (away fans regularly have to walk through the grave yard to get to the stadium)... The list goes on and on
For people to want to come and watch the game then the game needs to be sold to them, people want value for money and they want entertaining. I hope and think the boys can do that on the pitch this year but I don't know how many new fans it will bring in until some of the bigger club/game issues are resolved

What sort of season attendance average would you be happy with at the end of next season MC? I know we managed to go from 4000 in 2015 to 4800 in 2016. Would a similar rise in numbers be considered a decent success.

I would like to continue that trend and get an average in the 5000's.
Other ways to help. Extra lottery lines. A quid a week?? We will also be launching something new on this this week. 2 extra lines x 1000 people x 52 weeks = £104000
Whilst in the ground, have 1 (extra) drink? 3000 people x £2 profit x 14 games = £84000
These 2 simple things are both achievable and would then allow full salary cap spend. We are £150000 behind most teams.
Hopefully new ISC gear will sell well

| I think that sounds totally reasonable, perhaps those who drink in the Con Club can start coming into the ground 30 min earlier and buying a pint in the ground instead of elsewhere, then they can stand where they want to stand and not have to moan that the north stand is full of away supporters
The ISC gear looks amazing, my wife has said that I can spend £100 for my Christmas present on gear this time which is double my normal allocation

I think if we're competitive, like I believe we will be and pick up some early wins, I can see us easily breaking into the 5k+. If CC and Kear can really get the team to produce some magic, then who knows what we can achieve this year.
Yes the other ideas are very achievable, especially when broken down like that. We just need the fans to buy into to it all and what it all means to the club, especially when we're all talking about signings in the off season etc. That extra £150k can go along way.
I've no doubt the new ISC stuff will fly out of the shop. I can't wait to get my hands on some of the gear. Just have to wait to see what Santa brings me first. The shirt's Top notch but I also really like some pf the other stuff, the Hoodies, Polos and even the Coat. The new badge makes all the difference, as well as ISC 's quality.

To me, that's the key. £5 a week is perceived differently to a one-off payment of £249. People are used to budgeting based on monrhly direct debits. If it was possible to offer more flexibility of membership, and iideally include different levels of committment, the income source could be expanded.

Nobody's saying that, although I know a bloke who can't attend matches anymore but still buys a season ticket to do his bit for the club. If you only can attend 1 match a season buy a shirt join the lottery etc it's still supporting the club

I totally agree, if someone said I me that I could pay £6/week by direct debit for a season ticket and club 1873 membership I'd think I'd got an amazing deal. I suppose it would need to be monitored and proper contracts in place similar to phone contracts which I guess costs lots to manage

I would imagine a lot harder to manage, a few clubs tried this Widnes was one where you paid monthly for membership, don't know how it went or if it's still going but can imagine this system would cost a lot more to manage a throw up alsorts of problems along the way.

| On the season ticket cost, as I see it, there are 11 home games in the regular season plus either 3 or 4 home games in the 8's. In addition there is a discount on the shirt and discounts on Magic weekend. Plus the feeling of belonging and access to cup tickets ahead of the rest.
It's all personal choice, but there is more value than was suggested earlier.
