| I'm gonna be very cynical here but Scarlett Pimpernell and Sacred cow have very similar opinions and strangely enough very similar amount of posts, strange isn't it?
And the "happy band of MC tweeting set" Scarlett Pimpernell, you sound very Sacred cow there.

| Quote ="Scarlet Pimpernell"Whatever is decided the one group that will not be considered or consulted are the supporters. We have been promised updates on several occasions covering many years and to date nothing but one excuse after another. The last I believe was when everyone was back from holiday, but I now notice that our Chairman is away.
I expect we will be left with a fait accompli because the club is nothing more than a pawn in a game of brinkmanship between the board and WMDC with the only losers the great club that is Wakefield Trinity and us the supporters.
I expect the usual suspects will rally to the support of the board and the fine work they are doing but remember we could shortly be moving to a championship club with a reduced capacity and outside our home district and no plans in place to ever return.
It is easy to blame the council but I don't know of any extra help they have given to Castleford or Featherstone. They gave us planning permission called in by the conservative Goverment they provided the same for Castleford. If someone can explain in what way we have been treated on a less preferential basis than our two neighbours. Over to the happy band of MC tweeting set to enlighten us all.'"
Just what has it got to do with the supporters the ground ownership is between the owners of the land selling and the purchaser. I remember under Teds regime shares could be bought but the take up was very low. If MC has put a bid in for the ground and someone else has outbid him then thats how it is the only sentiment is with those few people in the City who have an affinity to Trinity, the wider public probably do not care.

If you are suggesting we are one and the same then you are very wrong. I have no axe to grind with MC which seems his/her issue. My problem is purely with the club moving out of the Wakefield boundary, something i share with many supporters whom i talk to. It is only feasable if there is a watertight contract in place containing certain guarantees and strict timescales, not just 'the club hope to' or 'we aim to'. Maybe i'm being cynical but i have a horrible feeling that once we are out of the way then without a cast iron follow up plan then we will be gone for good and i have no confidence in this certain developer or the council coming through with any promises. My hope is that the delay in announcing the ground we will be at for next season is due to getting the legal parts of the BV revamp tied up which was the plan. I did hear that there was a fly in the ointment there again though as well.
One thing i would ask MC purely as a genuine question is he says he will no longer take on the liability for BV because of its state yet only 12 months ago he signed a new 5 year lease. What has changed since then? To the untrained eye it seems exactly the same as this time last year. Has the health and safety man condemed the place? Are the insurers being a pain in the backside? It might help the fans understand any move.

I'm only guessing here as I've not tweeted my "pal" to ask him, but is it anything to do with the young Leeds fan having a stone/missile thrown at her and getting a nasty gash?

No idea, could be. If it is explain that to the supporters and at the same time publicly shame the ends of bells that have caused it. But if the place has been condemned, or the premiums have sky-rocketed then fans will understand the need to go, getting it out in the open will apease most people and ease the move away (providing it is temporary). As i say i'm hopeful that the delay in the announcement is so both the move and the confirmed plan for the future can be announced as one. If MC wants to have the season tickets in sale for the beginning of september then i'd expect something official in week or so after his holiday.

| Quote ="Sacred Cow":3pf6tsspDo you really think the council would feel any embarrassment at us moving out of Wakefield? If so i can promise you that you are misguided on that one, they will probably hold a leaving party. In fact us voluntarily taking the option to move out with 4 years left to run on our lease to a ground outside the area is akin to digging our own grave, it gives another stick to beat us with. It is a decision that could have dire long term consequences without a guaranteed exit plan. And what chance that? You are right that Belle Vue is hardly in palatial surroundings and maybe we could be trying to polish a turd by doing it up but in my opinion it is better than moving away. As for the Fev thing a fair comparison is taking the distance from our current ground, the one everyone is used to visiting. In that case Dewsburys ground is getting on for nearly twice as far away as Post Office Road and that ground is already superleague ready. Would there not be a better option if possible?'"

I'll give you that one! The Owl Lane stadium is actually closer to my house than Belle Vue is, but i'd still prefer to be playing within our own boundaries. The fact remains though that not only is one is within Wakefield MDC and one isn't one will also need work to bring it up to superleague standard whilst one wouldn't. I would guess we would have to contribute to some degree to any building works, why spend money on someone elses ground for a years stay? It will be a very symbolic move to go outside the area to Dewsbury and a very risky one at that. Still just my opinion, others may feel different.

It all depends on exactly why we are moving and how long we are expecting it to last.
Plus (and more importantly) any cost implications ie, match day revenue, rental costs etc, etc and availability.
It's far from straight forward and it may all be posturing to try and get some decisions made but, this is extremely risky.
Leaving BV, especially if the new development begins on the Super Bowl site could hamper and negotiations on rights of way etc and with WMDC planning not having covered itself in glory for other Trinity plans, it certainly make you worry as to whether we would ever return to BV.
Scary times AGAIN for the Trinity faithful and the biggest worry will be the effect on our pitiful home support.

| Belle Vue is a toilet. I cannot wait to get away from it.
Having to walk through streets full of skank is not fun.
Last game, cutting through from the Catherine Street area onto Doncaster Road, we had to walk through no less than 30 used needles and paraphernalia.
You then enter the ground past piles off litter around Super Bowl.
It is a disgusting mess and a crying shame to leave it with bad memories (off the field)

| Whatever your opinions one thing must be sure, that with us moving out one way or another things are finally going to come to a head very soon. You get the feeling the future direction and prosperity of the club is about to hit a massively crucial point in the next few weeks.

| Not a smart nal at all Sacred Cow , the relevant factor is the distance from Wakefield centre to make a comparison of distance to travel. At moment I need to catch two buses to BelleVue, my son one. Roles reversed if at Dewsbury. One bus for me , two for him. Some winners , some losers as regards travel issues.

| I'll chuck something else into the discussion which is worth considering if the choice is between Fev and Dewsbury.
I think we could play at Dewsbury and keep our identity quite easily.
However if we had a season or two at Fev I believe the cries of merger would soon start to become very loud.

Can't see it we could keep our indentity quite easily at either ground, that is unless we were to be relegated. If that was to happen then without our own ground the merger talk would probably start no matter where we were playing.

| On the subject of expense, if you leave Belle Vue with the intention of returning then you still have the expense of the upkeep of the old girl. You can't just walk away from it without some maintenance especially the pitch.

A return to BV would be to a newly built or massively upgraded stadium, not a return to the status quo.

| Less than a 5 minute drive to Dewsbury from my house but it still isn't in Wakefield! But i'm sure Michael Carter knows what he is doing.
Anyway, sounds like there could be an announcement on friday. Two year groundshare whilst Belle Vue gets a make over is the rumour.

Providing that the contract is watertight this time then that might not be the end of the world but it cannot be allowed to drag on any longer than that though i feel without being seriously detrimental. The council will need to keep the pressure on the developer to ensure this is delivered on time.

Well delighted in the fact that the sale of the superbowl means we are now left with a major turd polishing operation in one of the biggest cesspools in Wakefield. But yeah it's better than nowt.

| So the developer who now owns Superbowl and the gym are known for the small retail parks with a mini-mart/Starbucks/petrol station type set-up; if that fronts a redeveloped BV, it could be a win for everyone - a historic, but newly fit for purpose stadium, with additional facilities on the doorstep - add that to the rumoured car park nearby and all of a sudden, MC looks like a fecking genius.

Yeah means we'll not have to spend a fortune on poor standard stuff in the ground anymore. Park up, grab a subway and drink then go into the ground. Sounds a plan.
