I don't get the bigger ground bit though. I really doubt we'd get anywhere near the 10k mark tbh.

Huddersfield would have been half empty and the RFL, quite rightly, want these games to be sold out.
If you think that there have been at most 4000 Wakey fans at Belle Vue this season (not including away fans) an allocation of
5 or 6000 is certainly fair and although our support at Huddersfield was superb, there were only 11/1200 Trinity fans there.
So there are plenty of tickets for the regulars

May be we don't have the fan base of 2008 but in that semi final there was an attendance of 15,000...

Doesn't matter how far away it is, if the game is all ticket. It's all down to ticket allocation.
You could argue that holding the game at Leigh may mean that more Wire fans will be inclined to go but, in this case, it will be down to the fans to "demand" tickets, which may improve our allocation (just as it did in the Hull semi final a few years ago, when we sold our initial allocation quickly and then got an extra 500 or 1000 tickets ?).

| For those who say they can't access the BBC abroad all you need is a computer/iPad and good wifi. I'm currently in the US and have seen all the cup matches on sky and BBC this weekend by using a VPN service. If you want to know more about it private message me and I'll send you a link.
Thankfully I'll be back in the UK so can go to Leigh, as long as I get a ticket.

Which VPN service are you using ?
I've used a couple when I've been over in the States but they either now charge or only alow limited downloads so looking for another freebie so the wife can watch Strictly when we are over next.

| It is important that an impartial viewer of these games sees a stadium full - for obvious reasons. Too often, televised RL games are being played in empty stadiums - does not cast a good light on the game...and by the way neither do the Trinity floodlights.

I stopped using free services since they were full of ads, slowed down my browsing and were full of malware. I now use a relatively cheap paid for service. I know of at least 3 which I would recommend. Small price to pay maybe £5/£10 for a month, just factor it into your travel budget. Send me a PM if you want a link.

Thanks but for the time we are in the States its not worth paying for a sevice on a monthly basis because its only the BBC I cannot get. I can get all the sport, including Super League games in my cable TV package.

| I can't share the optimism of some that it will be easy to get tickets. Look, I've been sat in stadia with empty seats in all season. I am not a season ticket holder due to my location of Beverley and the fact we were dire over 2 seasons so I suppose no sympathy someone will say. I have paid through the gate and attended all bar 3 games at BV and been at 5 away games all in stadia NOT FULL. So in the vanity of the RFL not wanting the world to see how we are struggling as a sport, they allocate us a tiny ground and make me scramble during work time to have any chance of getting a ticket. I may well not now be able to go after 40 od years of supporting Trinity. And we wonder why the game is in crisis. An idiotic decision for me. You can take the average home support attendance figure for these games and add 50-75% for me, especially for Wakefield who have a big non attending support who will want to go. I will be furious if I cannot get a ticket having sat in empty stadia all season

I really don't know where you're getting this from.Yes we did get 15,000 for that game but since then the CCup attendances have seen a significant decline as indeed have our own.
Now although the RFL are partly to blame for this they still have a duty to make the Semi Final profitable. Now my understanding is that most Stadia are rented for the day on an occupancy basis which can mean that there is no profit for the RFL until they reach anything between 80-90% sales. Thats not to be confused with what we get which again as far as I'm aware is fixed but with some incentivication.
So where as the RFL can be fairly sure they will sell out the LSV and thus make a tidy sum they most certainly can't be sure they could sell out the the Galpharm or whatever it's called now! In fact they could make a huge loss. It's a risk they can't take IMHO so a guaranteed near sell out LSV and a good TV image looks about right to me.
Remember none of these grounds are owned or run by the residents RL clubs.
I can't guarantee that's the reason but I suspect it is. I also expect they have gone for the LSV because it's near Warrington who's travelling fans are more of a known quantity.
PS: I was at the Galpharm when Leeds played the Bulls in a CCup semi final in 2001 or around then - this was at the height of Bullmania and the rise of Leeds and when the CCup was better supported and it still wasn't a sell out.

970, but cracking support nonetheless.
It seems the teams from west of the pennines get "home" semi's every time they play in one, out of our 4 recent semi's, 3 have been in 'lancashire' all against 'lancashire' opponents.
But i suppose the lack of decent stadia over here, and the ones we have got are too big to be honest.

i wouldnt panic, looks like they are keeping one stand free, like ours at the keepmoat for clubs wanting additional tickets, once your first allocation is sold out the rfl will open the closed stand block by block
