July 1st 2015. We conceded 3 tries to Hull FC in a 26-16 win. Our previous SL win also.

| Quote ="Willzay"Penalty count was embarrassing as was the attacking play but at least it's 2 points.'"
The only thing that was embarrassing today was the performance of the officials, due to their inept display especially the referee so under the circumstances it was a very hard earned win, but don't let that get in the way of you putting a downer on it, maybe if the referee had been as lenient with us as he was with them when defending, it might have rendered your whinge academic, but then you'd probably find another negative

| That was a well hard fought battle today thought we lost a little bit of spark when Howarth went off but the state of the pitch and some odd things the ref gave it was always going to be tough even for the best of sides. still plenty of work to do and some hard games to come if there was ever an easy one but the full effort was there today that's all you can ask

| Great result, so glad I went with family, everyone got behind the team, some great defensive sets, after some appalling referee decisions. This is how I saw it,,,,
Anakin, Simon made a difference in the forwards, with England again showing great game time energy and a cracking hit on Kelly,
Agree MOM Howarth great feet for his try and along with England never missed a tackle
Finn was a lot better and as the game went on his confidence grew and he starting to kick smart also in harsh conditions kicked both conversions that was the difference. Hopefully more to come.
Miller still poor for me, just no confidence, Walton needs to calm down composure, looks slightly wreck less at times,
Johnstone game saving tackle on I think was shaw ?showed great concentration as he had no right to get there and have power to put him In touch, well pleased for lad as he has taken a few digs over his defensive efforts in weeks previous
BJB was solid great handling in windy conditions and got better metres returned.
Defensive game was pretty spot on from everyone,
All in all great away win, our discipline has to improve as better sides will run riot if we give that amount of field position away through lazy penaltys.
I really thought with more composure and a better kicking game we could have ran away with it as for 15 mins of second half we had great control and field possession but mistakes on 1-2 tackle kept us hanging on to final hooter
Overal much more positive than negative, and away from home poor conditions, aweful referee, great result, we all said this was a must win game, well the boys delivered!!!!
Well done boys!!!

| Willzy . I kind of half new you would give a negative comment about the team performance today.. We were not fantastic but you can't fault the effort mate. Listen to the audio boom interview that brian smith gives.
It's going to take time, and I think you should try to be a bit more positive.
I've just read Wayne bennetts book. Don't die with the music in you.its not just about rugby, he also talks about life in general, and I think you and some others might be the benefactor of some of the stuff this bloke writes about.you never know it MIGHT just change your outlook on what's happening here at trinity and life in general.

| Unfortunately got stuck at work today so had to listen to the radio. I decided on bbc radio humberside as i prefer their commentary to that on radio leeds and the general view from them was that we should probably have won by more and were the better team for the majority of the game.
Hopefully we can start to build from here now and our season is off and running.

| At times I thought the half backs were trying too hard.
When we were over their line we fluffed a few chances when actually just running Simon or England at the line would have probably hot us a try.
We'll improve on that.
I don't expect a win against Wolves but I go with more confidence of competing.

cut out the penalties we keep giving away and the games will become more balanced and even against the better quality teams we will give ourselves a chance.

| Wow never thought we would go to kr and win great result to all players involved.im not gonna pick any negitives cos we won ill happily win every game with same score and performance
I think the dropping of johnstone last week to reserves where he scored has done his confidence a world of good and i hope certain players like kirmond and scrutton walk straight back into team thats not me knocking them but other than injury those players on show today deserve to be in next week

| Agree totally with Poptart regarding our half backs.
During the last 20 mins their lack of composure and hunger, resulted in some poor decision making.
e.g.
Failure to run at gaps in a tiring defence. This is where Miller should really come into his own.
Finn needs to improve his kicking technique as on several occasions he either failed to connect with a decent touch of the ball which resulted in lost opportunities to force a goal line drop out. Secondly his slow thinking meant that he was kicking when it was far easier to run the ball.
I still do not think that Miller is playing close enough to Finn to explore the running opportunities which are currently being wasted by poorly executed kicks.
That said I thought that we played well enough to deserve the 2 points especially on the back of some very poor refereeing decisions in the second half.
The return of Simon was much needed and added to the threat that England has been all season. BJB had his best game for us today and Annakin showed why he really deserves a place in the team.
Well done boys. Good vociferous following from Wakefield too.
Looking forward to the visit to Wires next week.

It's not the penalties he awarded against us he calls them as he see's them, although to be fair he'd be hard pushed to defend some of his decisions, what inflamed the fans more than anything was his inability to punish the tactics of their players by slowing the ptb down the blatant not standing square and the constant off side which was so obvious it was unbelievable, which put in to context makes the win all the more sweeter, as for that bloody thing the the RFL call a referee I thought he could never have a worse game than when he referee'd us against Salford at home last season, but yesterday's game came so close to it.

| The ref was really frustrating, but we didn't help either.
One of their tries came on the back of four penalties that got them off their own line down to our line and then gave them an extra set. (I think it was 4, maybe a scrum and 3)
But in the middle of the field after keeping them pinned back, on the 5th tackle, we got off the tackler in 4 second (I counted)........and then leaned back on to push his head down. It was a nothing move that normally wouldn't be picked up but after being badly penalised, a good team would just get off and make them play.
The ref was bad but we seemed to hand him as many 50-50 decision as he needed to pin us back.
He needs to look at his performance but we need to improve too.

| Thought yesterday showed how far we have come, even despite many consecutive penalties against us we managed to hold Hull KR out who I think have a very strong attack with plenty of strike players (even if missing one of two). Simon and England carried the ball strong and worked hard in defence which the other forwards kept the momentum going matching their effort. I thought our 3/4s played well too especially Lyne who deserves a mention for his defensive efforts yesterday and young Johnstone who also was also eating yards coming out of our own 20. I thought A. Tupou was good yesterday too, made a lot of tackles and when carrying the ball looked threatening but more times than not no one in support of a player who has the ability to offload out of nothing, having seen glimpes of his class throughout the pre-season and early season games once hes properly match fit I reckon he will be very strong on our edges. Not fully sure why people are writing off our halfbacks as its only early doors and they are still learning to play off of each other and the way Brian wants them to play but I do agree that Finns kicking game was poor for the majority of the game especially when he could of potentially got a repeat set but instead choosing the power play. Hopefully they will learn quicker and congratulations to the players on a tough win and a win we had go grind out.

| There is a lot of talk about Hull KR injuries but from their starting 13 they were only missing Mantelato, Campese and Lunt.
We were missing Scruton, Moore, Kirmond and Gibson from our starting 13 (and Owen if you go by squad numbers)
We handled that change better than they did.

They certainly missed Mulatto's goal kicking ability.

| Not sure if it's been mentioned previously, probably has somewhere, but I think Brian Smith deserves some credit for having the guts to drop Scruton & Kirmond, assuming they were left out and not injured. The pack is certainly better with Simon in it whatever position he plays. Also a mention for Lyne, I don't think anyone was slagged off more than him on here, and he's been excellent so far this season, hope he continues his good form. It will be interesting to see if he sticks with a winning side for the Warrington game, although Tupou will probably be doubtful I would think.

| Bill Tupou you mean? I didn't see what happened to him.
He gave a lot of penalties away, so good as he is, we may not miss him so much. Not sure whether I'd play Gibson or Walton. Quite like Walton but he is a bit excitable too.
