| That game was 50-50 and revolved round 2 decisions. Both teams made errors in roughly equal measure. For 50 mins Wakefield were slightly in the upper hand for me, and believe me I criticise my own team. If you want to get your slide rule out, the disallowed Wakefield try wasforward. I know as you ALL know , you will see 100 tries more forward before the season is out. What is more, it will be St Helens, Wigan and Leeds scoring them. It seems, if you are the ascendant team playing the game at pace, it doesn't matter where you lob the ball, try wil be awarded. If you are the lowly underdog, your unexpected incursion against the brilliant superior will be viewed with a microscope. It was laughable. But frankly the offside try was worse. 2 players, one who scored, one involved, both offside at the kick. Well, we'll see if it evens up over the season. I doubt it. SL bias rules again and we can expect to be battered into the middle 8

I thought McShane was poor last night. Can't fault his effort but he lacked something.

| Dumb Rugby and Great St Helens defence were the 2 reasons we lost IMO.
Very frustrating as we should be 3 wins from 4 now. Instead we are slipping down the table.

Brilliant post sums it up for me, it also sums up what is wrong with our game.

| Nobody has mentioned the head shots or the trip, in the second half, that went unpunished.
WE could and should have won the game and ultimately only have ourselves to blame BUT, the officiating was absolutely appalling.
I know that our blood levels rise in the heat of the game but, the "forward" passes from Wakefield are considered "flat" every week and last night
the were only deemed forward if the player had a Wakefield shirt on.
Massive improvement on the Widnes game and we have to do a job on Salford next week.
Saints will have an interesting week at Red Hall this week

| Wilkin should get 2 match ban hopefully but should have had 10 mins off the field....he was mouthing off back at ref and got away also with lifting up and throwing down Paea after tackle called, in addition to high shots on both Kirmond and Washbrook. Had he'd been wearing a white shirt he'd have been in the bin.
If WTW show consistency and play like that next week getting a little more composure they'll win. Simon was great and it's no coincidence that his two big drives led to a try after quick play the ball.
Need to dominate in the forwards or at least compete tough next week like against Saints.....some of the hits like Lauitiiti were great to see. Saints know they played in a tough match last night and that Wakey on their day are no pushovers.

| Gret effort after last week, the disallowed try for a forward pass was criminal and the turning point for me as St's went up field and scored from it.Hicks well, wants kicking in his gonads,if he's got any and here we go again about a weakened team, poor 1st hf and all that, pathetic, you pinched 2 points due to Stevie Wonder in the middle end of.Same effort at Salford next week Trin please

| As a neutral I thought all the officials had a shocking night. The video refs made a decision every bit as bad as Gansongate at the Magic Weekend, probably the worst decision of the year so far along with the "tackled in the air" Catalans no try, strangely also against Saints. As for the forward passes, they seemed to call every marginal Wakey pass while totally ignoring Roby's forward delivery from just about every pass. I would like to think nothing more sinister than being totally inept is resulting in the refs terrible decisions, but sometimes I do wonder if there is a little more to it.

Saved me a job, we were awful but could/should have beaten Saints.

| I watched the game when I got back from darn't lane and it was like the Cas game from the week before against Saints. Things went against you at certain points, but you, like Cas, should have beaten them comfortably and expect JW will look at why you didn't rather than any referee decisions.

| Whilst its true we did in some part beat ourselves the poor performance of Roby has to be a factor its almost laughable that a referee has to watch a replay to see a blatant head head shot. These men in the middle need to realise the way they perform and control these games have an effect on the players safety.

| i notice theres no mention of the kicker..(think it was wilkin) which led to turners try...get a blatant shoulder charge after he had kicked the ball...or the non existant forward pass in the first half of which robbed us of an almost certain try....swings and roundabouts folks....good job... walsh..armour..or travis burns were all missing..(then lomax..percival) left the field...once again a patched up saints got the job done..have a nice day!..

Yes it should have been a penalty to St’s for the challenge on Wilkin, who knows what the outcome would have been, maybe St’s would have taken the two.
But the point is Turner was in an offside position & the V.R should have chalked it off.
There’s no need to go into a diatribe about players missing, injuries & the like, the V.R got it wrong & should be reprimanded.
Whilst we are talking about things not mentioned, what about the St’s play the ball, which was at ninety degrees & the officials just let it go.

| I'm not advocating this which would be going the way of football but what if a WTW player had gone over to Washbrook and told him to stay down when he'd got that Wilkin shoulder right under the chin as it looked really bad on the replay which can be seen in the ground? Heard 'off off off!' being shouted.
Think Washbrook being carried off with suspected concussion no doubt would have led at least to a sin bin if not straight red for Wilkin. With all their injuries and a pivot sent off it would have changed the balance of the game massively.

| Can't seem to buy into this 'we wuz robbed' mentality about last night.
The ref wasn't that good but we should have still beaten Saints by about 12 points.
If people are happy to lose to a team with Wilkin and Wellens in the halves, plus playing all the second half with one sub, it amazes me.
Using the ref and ropey decisions as an excuse of why we didn't have enough composure or be able to do the basics right to beat Saints should be the real reason that people should be using.
Some on this thread accept that but some still look for excuses.
Last nights result was more frustrating than last Sunday.

Yeh we should have won more easy but there try that was offside and should not have counted is not an excuse its a fact.the try we got disallowed for forward pass was no more forward then 100s off passes that would not have been called forward.2 big points off the game he got wrong wich is a fact not excuse.

If we had been good enough, these points would have become irrelevant.
Good teams find a way of winning and not dwelling on what might have been.

There 6 points that should not have counted and our 4 maybe 6 that should have would have made it 20 or 22-14 would you not have been happy with that score? Like you say we should have won anyway but doesn't take away the fact we should have won if the refs decisions were correct.so that's where we were robbed comes from

| I don't think people are looking for excuses as to why we lost. I think all accept there was a lack of composure at crucial times but likewise there was also some terrible refereeing which contributed massively towards the end result.
This was against the top side in SL who are paying up to their salary cap by a side that is no where near the salary cap. One that also got thrashed last week so it's a great step in the right direction with something to work on.
