| You should have won that game. At least 3 gilt edged chances coughed up inside the Saints 10 metre line in the final quarter alone, all down to poor composure. Real shame.

No chance. You could clearly see it go forward on Sky. He was stood short of the line, moving along it and passed it and it crossed the line. Miles forward.

He did catch it before the line, but it was still forward. It was more forward than the Makinson no try that would of taken it to 10 - 0 that was called forward anyway ...

| On a positive note, thought Simon went well today along with Washy and Riley. Think Timmy is struggling at the minute, very hit and miss in the last few games and he had a decent platform to play behind today.
Still, a much better performance than Widnes and no shame in pushing Saints all the way.

| No help from the officials but we didn't help ourselves either. We had the the chances to win the game but didn't take them. Still think if we'd had have Godinet running at their tired forwards late on we'd have won that game but i guess we'll never know. Washbrook did ok but did just as well once he switched to his natural position and McShane probed well but the dummy half forward passes he put in cost us dearly. A positive step forward after Widnes but one that got away. Big game now at Salford next week.

| Yes, I agree we got some tough decisions, but you make a lot of your own luck.
We did pass the ball forward too much, Miller did drop the ball with a run in, as did Collis, Ali did obstruct when it was two on one for Lynne to run it in.
Whilst I agree Saints got the rub, we won't get many better opportunities to beat a top team this year.
Great shame. Two points lost. Even with the decisions, sadly only ourselves to blame.
I would have had Wilkin in the bin for the high tackle / shoulder charge to the head.
Saints slowing down the play of the ball all game - but that's professionalism - if Hicks thinks that's quick enough, we should have done the same.

| That was the first time I got to see the team in the flesh since the season started. I must admit to being very encouraged by what I saw.
Admittedly there are lots of ifs and buts. However we did create chances and potentially crossed the line 3-4 more times had it not been for forward pass/obstruction/dropped ball etc. The fact we are getting so close is what encouraged me.
The heart was there even though the execution was marginally short.
I agree Salford is a massive game now and we really need to be clinical. We've got to keep in the middle pack of the league and not get drawn into the scrap at the bottom.

Unbelievable. No mention Wilkin's high shots....'"
[i Quote Flanagan will miss out for a spell after needing surgery on a damaged tear duct sustained from a challenge from Ali Lauitiiti in the second half.
Coach Keiron Cunningham was understandably dismayed.
He said: “Mark has needed surgery on the eye. If you watch the tackle back Lauitiiti hits him in the head with his shoulder.
“There was apparently no problem with the tackle, but if that is the case how come Mark Flanagan has split his eye and damaged his tear duct from that tackle'" [/i
That would be the tackle which Flanagan clearly runs straight into the chest of Lauitiiti, the one which SKY showed a number of times because Flanagan got completely smash daddied by big Ali, the one where the whole SKY commentary team were salivating over because it was a great example of a big tackle that didn't need the type of cheap dirty play Sts and Wilkin in particular were employing!
Cunningham,
You couldn't make it up!

There you go.'"
The only era where that was a legitimate tackle is the mid 1970s
Joke decision not to ban him for 3 games!
Wellens should have got 3 for tripping as well but Cunningham was looking the other way when they happened so can't comment!

In the sixties and seventies a trip was always instant dismissal, as was the 'stiff arm ' tackle.
In many ways there is more leniency now.
Are you meaning the 'Cumberland throw'?
