I think Miller has bags of potential he's only 22 still plenty to learn. Hull got him thinking he would change them but at 22 he is work in progress. Exciting signing. I would still keep Sammut tho.

Good luck to Jacob . He is obviously mentally tough ( put up with lots of flak at Hull ) . Agree that cover at half back is a good thing . So all we need now is a couple of centres , we will have Collis for 5 or 6 games , Lynn is a winger / centre and already pulled his hamstring in first week of training . Not the lads fault . So I hope we can continue the excellent work to date and perhaps get a loan player or two who can player centre , then I think we will look ok .

Hall can play as well but like you say a loan or two to cover the / fullback would be handy. I think the team looks more than OK tbh, really pleased with what we've brought in.

Ryan played centre a fair bit last season, so cover there.

Cover yes but speed no plus I am not sure that he can take a full game playing centre. He is still a better option than Gilmour a name I have seen suggested on here before.

I thought he made a good fist of it, can't really remember coming away from a game and thinking Ryan was poor.

Can Ashurst play centre ?

Hope we dont end up with to many options at 6 ans 7 and that webbo knows the best options and combo now. With Smith at 7 the ptions for the 6 spot are many, it could cloud the issue. The squads taking shape and looking good.

I'm very happy with this signing. Paul Sykes was not a player many fans were too keen on bringing in, yet when he was moved to six it turned round our entire season. It could be the same with Miller, in that individually he may not set the game alight but is potentially the perfect partner for Tim Smith in the halves.

And the having Sammut as our regular full back could be quite devastating, a bit of a poor man's Sam Tomkins for us. Then with Hall and Collis in the centres I'd expect our wingers to be notching up a fair few scores next season.

If I was being greedy, I actually think Jordan Tansey could round this squad off nicely. Can cover 1-6 to a decent standard.

As i said before a ball playing 13, i.e an extra pivot - Kevin Brown and Sinfield are prime examples of this i would imagine there around a similar size.

We are in need of a FB and if Webster thinks Miller fits the bill then thats a good thing !

He is a halfback, play him there.

Hall is a centre! No chance can Miller play anywhere other than the halves, he has promise in attack, but is woeful in defence.

I still think Tim is planning to return to Australia after this year hence the one year deal for him and JW is looking at Miller as a long term replacement. We have been able to get him for peanuts this year due to FCs generous pay off so we can afford an understudy. After his indifferent performance at Hull no club would give him a long term deal unless he proves himself and we couldn't afford to give one. No point in speculating where he will play but I won't be surprised to see him wearing the number 7 shirt in 2016 on a 3 year deal.

He seems a man of many talents

. Over the years on the Hull boards i've heard people say he's a SO, , wing and sometimes fullback. I agree about Miller, can't see him anywhere other than the halfs and I'd be surprised if Webster converts him to FB. Unless he sees something in him in training that most of us haven't seen.

If that does happen it's good that the club have thought ahead and already planning next year. Saying that hopefully Tim stays longer but who knows.

As I said too small to do all the defensive graft expected of a regular 13 and wouldn't take the ball up. He is 6ft but only 13 stone. Kevin Sinfield is 5 ft 11 and 14 stone 11 lb. Kevin Brown 6ft and 14 stone 2 lb.

You may well be right but like Miller,Riley,Peua,Kirke, and anybody else on a one year contract they would probably re-sign given that we are still in SL come the end of the new season, which could well have been the main reason they only committed for the coming season.

On Wednesday night Webbo said he wasn't a fan of squad numbers and they would not reflect his thinking as to team make-up So watch out for Scruton in the 1 shirt

Choose what ever one things for sure Webster could see the weakness in the side and has added some size and grunt to the pack and it could well be he is looking forward on the Miller signing if Smith does go back to Oz after this year.Im looking forward to the start of the season and one things for sure we wont get over run in the pack my only concern would be Sammut at FB I like him and he would be devastating in attack but one on one with a big forward and they would just run over him but lets see what happens.We have plenty of options as regards Kicker Sammut can do it for fun but should he be injured or not selected then Hall can slot them over as well as McShane.One things for sure Im convinced this squad can cause a fair few upsets and BV will be a happy place to be.If the side get off to a flying start then some of the doubters should start to come back through the gates.

According to YEP Hull will be funding 'large sum' of Miller's wage because of the 'pay off' deal.
So seems we have made a shrewd signing in that we do not have much to lose and much to gain if he is a success.

I tend to agree with a lot of what you say regarding Sammutt, but do full backs have to make many tackles, I seem to think I saw a stat a few years since suggesting they only made something like 3 tackles per game, I'd be more worried about him under the high balls myself.
Anyone out there that knows such stats, Please feel free to disprove my tackle numbers theory.

Put it this way, if the pack performs on grass as well as it appears to on paper then no he won't. Webb at Leeds is a classic example, not a great tackler and never needed to be because he was protected. My issue with Sammut at FB was never his defence but his attack which I felt was laboured for such a quick player. Hopefully you can put that down to him learning the position and this year being better placed to exploit any space. Let's be honest that was Mathers great skill, reading the game in attack, his defence was often poor but his support play and finishing were very good.
