| The stewards are in the front line and should act as ambassadors of the club. Clearly a problem with the attitude of some of the stewards. Door supervisors are trained to deal with conflict, it seems many start the conflict in the first place.
No one expects to arrive at a ground and be confronted by a jobs worth , who for what ever reason can not or will not let common sense prevail . It reflects on the club, and the club need to sort it out.
Its not a matter of taking sides , it just need a simple rule that can be understood by the visitors to B V and more importantly the security.

| I had a ruck sac with me against Hudds with a big camera in it. I did wonder what they were going to say.
1 guy was covering 4 gates so was a bit stressed but was quite happy to let me in.

Big Al had an issue?
I'm surprised that nobody mentioned this already.

| As I said, think it's the club that's got the issue. Needs sorting.

| Obviously there was a problem when they first brought this in, but is there a problem now?
Surely no Wakefield fans take opened bottles of water any more (or at least answer the question: Is it open, with a "No sir"icon_wink.gif
And on top of that, if you have a bottle already opened, I'd just drink it. No one is going to have two opened bottles surely.
I understand why things got out of hand originally, especially once inside the ground, but is there still a problem?

I don't think as a club we inform our supporters of the ground rules and regs of our opponents, why should we have to.
The problem is as I see it, we don't inform our own supporters in fact is suggest we may actually be misinforming them.
I sent an email ages ago (when all this "kicked off" through the clubs website as directed to by the clubs own guidelines on the website, asking for clarification as I though we were missing a trick, which has been the case.
I never received a reply.

But you've just demonstrated that there is a problem. The club website says quite clearly that you can take (plastic) bottles in to the ground - no mention of them being opened or not. So if the stewards are making an issue of this they're not following the club's policy.

| On a slight tangent here, but at Sundays game our friendly stewards were making young kids get down from the red barriers (the ones Snowie worked on), they can't apparently sit on them now.

I agree with this one JINJER because when Leeds visited us there were three or four small kids climbing and sitting on the barriers whilst their parents were somewhere back in the stands and i remember cringing when i watched them, if they had fallen they would have hit the concrete steps, i spent most of the game watching them.

There is also the fact that many struggle to see without sitting on the barriers because of the poor viewing a BV. But its health & safety overload again.

Ok mate lets have it your way, let them fall of cut their heads open on the concrete steps and their parents can sue the club.

| The problem is we live in a different world today, a less free but more health and safety conscious world. We seem to have the American disease of sue, sue, sue. For safety we are a much less free society

This is how I see it PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY, if you go all H&S would you allow them to sit on the seats in the East stand? They could fall off. What about standing upright on the terracing? They could fall down twenty steps. Both of my daughters were brought up watching Trin, both watched every game sat on the barriers (they stopped at 21, too heavy to lift up) and not once did they fall and hurt themselves, and do you know why? Cos every minute of every game I was stood behind them holding onto them, no H&S, my responsibility.
This isn't Trinity's doing it's the way of the world, unfortunately people expect others to keep their children safe, and the downside to this is claims culture, lots of people want something for nothing.
The world's gone mad.

But if any of those incidents could be proved as negligence on Trinity's part, they would be sued.
So safer for Wakefield to tell them the rule, then it is their responsibility if they still do it.
It's a shame. I take full responsibility for my kid. I don't expect the club to do it......as long as nothing falls on us etc. But that's not the way of the world now.
