Well, if the rumours are true, Warrington would want him; that would put the cat amongst the pigeons, particularly if they win owt.

| I remember people slagging off David Topliss as coach, Andy Kelly too.
Clearly JK was not always popular either.
Each saved us and built good teams in their own way but had dips too.
The vultures who simply look for bad things to complain about will always find something.
Webster is in charge now. I wonder how long it will be before someone is complaining because he isn't Wayne Bennett or even Powell.
Let it go.

Obviously as little as you whose only contribution to this forum is to come on and directly slag off another posters opinion whilst offering precisely nothing to the debate. If you dislike everyones views on here so much isuggest you find something else to do with your time.

| Quote ="The Trip"This unable to compete quote from Agar is the excuse of someone who is limited to a certain level and cannot take that next step as a coach and motivator.
It's would be also interesting to here his views on his French position because he obviously cannot compete there too.So is that another take the money and pretend I'm half decent gig.
I'll give you a comparison.David Moyes for many years told us at Everton we were competing at our maximum and that 6th /7th was where we should expect to finish without major investment.During that last season with us he virtually tossed it off, pretending to compete because he knew where he was heading and 7th would be great because we didn't have the money,so be grateful!
Well Martinez put that theory to bed, didn't he!He made the players believe we could compete for a Top 4 spot and never once wavered and very nearly achieved it,all that and a profit of 19mill on transfer dealings.
I hope Webster brings a positivity to the role that it deserves and that the players respond to the fresh approach because no matter how nice Agar was to them,he ain't a winner!'"
Good analogy and we know how it ended for Moyes at a big club, he was way out of his depth. I think Agar has a vastly over-inflated opinion of his own abilities.

| Quote ="musson"For me it all now makes sense own
RA was not interested in Wakefield Trinity.it was just a temporary measure. He was always far too laid back and showed a total lack of urgency or passion, JK used to wear his heart on his sleeve, if he was angry he told us and if he was "delighted" to coin one of JKs fav phrases he told us
Agar should be ashamed of his self . He has nothing on his CV to suggest anything other that a lower league coach,

With his departure I am now sure more than ever we will see our club turned around as we have a good enough squad to compete'"
On the money here Musson. Its clear now why the players didn't believe in themselves.
AGAR quote "for 2 years now we've played attractive rugby"?
Its been shocking

| Those people who wanted Agar out have got what they wanted; seemingly, at little detriment to the club, although that remains to be seen.
It's therefore a bit distasteful to keep attacking the bloke in a personal way; let it go and get behind the new bloke?

| It was Agar who went to the media and gave an interview effectively saying the player's were not good enough and the club didn't have enough money for him to be a successful coach. He deserves to be slagged off. He didn't have what it takes to get the best out of the players at his disposal .

| What concerned me most from his boots n all interview yesterday was the line 'the team will need rebuilding again for next season'. Now obviously there is a need for some improvements in certain areas but there is plenty of talent already in the squad, it's just that he was incapable of getting them to play to their full potential. I would say there is more of a need of adding some quality players in some positions and adding a little depth along with re-signing a few of the current squad. I wouldn't say we particularly need to 'rebuild' again at this point but add to what we already have. If we are having to mass recruit yet again then why, is there about to be another raft of player departures, including some under contract that we would rather keep?

Easy to say will not need rebuild, how many have deals inplace elsewhere already?
Some of the players maybe just filled a possible gap in there employment, some maybe looking to improve position.
Think the Tautai thing was released a little earlier than expected and some other deals may already be done, it is 'contract window' everywhere that sees itself secure.
Some players are getting better deals at a lower level and if they are just worried about the money rather than testing themselves, this is an easier option.
I fear your last sentence maybe closer to the position we are in.

I can see that st some point he would want to have his say, i don't agree with most of what he's said, but thats his perogative.
Equally based on what he has said its not hard to understand people having a view on it.
Now its all done and when the dust settles, we can put it all to bed.
No more Agar threads...what will we all do????

| If Agars going to Warrington then surely there's an opportunity to bring Willie Poching over as our new coach. He's Wakefield through and through, still lives in Wakefield and is far more experienced than Webster, Morrison or Demetriou

Does he know that players are contracted elsewhere for next season or is he just summising (sp)?

Apart from Webster neither Morrison or Demetriou have any experience of coaching at the level required for SL and the difference is massive. I'm not saying they're not or won't ever be capable at that level but they're a bigger gamble than Poching.
Webster has learned his trade at the heel of Agar while Poching has had several years with Tony Smith at both Leeds Rhinos and Warrington.
I know which of the four I'd rather gamble on

We have had a thread on who is OOC at the end of the season.
When he has used the 'rebuilt' quote, could this mean that Webster has his own ideas of who he wants to keep?
To me he is deflecting the fact that Webster may not want RA's signings that are coming off contract.
The list that was provided, only Ali, Tautai, Walshaw, Moore and possibly Wildie and Raleigh were thought of as re-signs.
Tautai has gone, Ali May retire, the others may sign now the coach has changed.

Don't get me wrong i'd have no problem will Poching in charge but the difference between being an assistant and head coach is just as marked as the difference between head coach positions in superleague & the championship. None of the above names mentioned come with any real relative experience to become our coach but we had to take punt as we can't afford a bigger name. Webster is the man now in charge and i'm willing to give him an opportunity to see what he can do. He does though need to appoint an assistant who is capable of tightening up the defence.
And in the case of Morrison it is immaterial for now anyway, he's just signed a new two year contract at Dewsbury.

Think Peter Smith must be big buddies with Agar after reading this? Agar is not in the same league as Daryl Powell as a coach. On paper he has a squad that should be competitive every game but it isn't.
'In his final few weeks at the club Agar came under increasing pressure from fans, who claimed he had taken the club as far as he could and a change was needed. Clearly Agar felt the same way, though criticism of his performance as team boss is unfair.
From a coaching point of view, Wakefield is one of the toughest gigs in the British game and his league record of played 69, won 27, lost 41, drawn one is reasonable under the circumstances.'
The supporters just want a team that plays with fire in their belly even if they lose every week but apparently that makes it a 'tough gig'. Agar did not know his best 2 out of the 4 pivots signed never mind his best 17 and was too light in the centres which should have been looked at in stead of pursuing Siejka.
