It's very difficult when an organisation with a tarnished reputation is taken over by new owners; I've been in a similar position in a professional capacity and it took me two years of hard work, schmoozing and PR to remove the stink - by far the most effective of those by the way, was hard work; going about what (to me) was a new business with integrity, honesty and transparency and letting people see for themselves that we were doing things in a different way.

It's irksome when the club is referred to (take a look at the nutty forum) as 'scroungers' and the misdeeds of past regimes are levelled at the new one, but the only healer will be an honest operator and time - eventually, people will see that MC is (hopefully) doing the right thing and faith will be restored based on what's happening now, not what happened in the past.

In the meantime, it would be a good gesture if the club dedicated one of the first home games of the season to Wakefield Hospice and made sure there were bucket collections and such in the ground - and if I were MC, I'd be on the phone to them now to get that set up so that if this does go to the media, they're compelled to say that the new owner has taken steps to repair the damage.

You've got to feel for MC and all associated with the club at the moment, He must be sat there thinking wtf have done to disserve all this.

For the avoidance of doubt - I know that accountants do actually have feelings and I would not discourage anyone from feeling worried about MC's mental or emotional wellbeing; it were a joke.

I was one of those who said it was harmful to post such negativity about the club. I still think that is the case as is harmful but equally I didn't realise they were this bad.
I hope we can do something to help and I hope the story cones out naming the correct people.

Whilst I am on a short break I would say this. As soon as we found out we paid the hospice. I will gladly explain the whole story in person to anyone that wants to know. As usual there are 2 sides to every tale. And I've read the internet page with interest. The matter is now with the clubs lawyers.

Now I'm confused you say as soon as you took over, so to speak, you paid the hospice yet it seems you are saying the club wasnt entirely to blame?

At a guess I would say that DC is referring to what I was alluding to in my first post, ie. the defamatory comment on the website which, given that the matter has been resolved, is a little out of order.

A further thought, only one at this time of night, with regard to charity fundraising, there could be a challenge linked in with a league match. My choice would be versus Castleford and a Hospice challenge (I would have split loyalties on this one) and I know it would 'cut across' the current series in relation to the big man, but I'm certain Adam would approve.

I'd suggest if MC says they have been paid, that they have been paid, or all the good work so far would have been for nothing. I'm sure it's just that the website hasn't been updated.

DC says that the Hospice has been paid, so I think that line on the sites website is defamatory and even if true when originally written it should have been changed when the hospice was paid.

I have great sympathy for the manufacturer/seller as well and hope he recovers his money but there seems to be an attempt to garner support and indignation by including the hospice. Without the hospice this is just another supplier who was shafted by Elston.
