| Quote ="Shifty Cat"What's been swept under the carpet?
The fact that we're not cash rich and we do after juggle our finances, what's the surprise there and unless we start getting 10k through the gate regularly it isn't going to change, it's always going to be about compromises.
Personally I don't have a problem with sending guys out to other clubs and letting them pick up the tab, obviously with the injuries it's caused one or two problems, especially with TT getting injured so soon but at the time it must have seemed like a good bit of business. Now it seems we have got Mariano & Walshaw back and sent Mellars and Molloy the other way, which for me is a good thing and strengthens the side. I'd rather them be there playing each week than sat doing nothing, not keeping match fit. We've seen when some of our players have come back from injuries or not played for a few weeks how unfit they look, sooner we get back to having a reserve side the better.'"
I agree if its done right it works for both parties to do it this way, sending out a player under terms is fine, if its done right.

| Annakin has just signed a new contract recently, so no need to play him to death in Super League. If Molloy has gone to Dews and Mariano has come back from Fev for Mellars, can't see the problem. Fev will still be paying the same for Mellars as Mariano, but we will be making the difference up. Mariano will get a chance to play, where as Mellars, now most of our backs are fit would struggle to get in.

| Quote ="PopTart"I don't get your point at all.
Surely a well run club (or a not bad one at least) sends players who are not playing to a club that will let them play and pay them too. And then when we need them has done a deal to get them back.
Some of you guys have been specifically moaning about this and now that you have exactly what you said should have happened has happened, try to find a way to prove you were right to moan rather than say well done to the club.
Beats me why you bother paying to watch.
Support the club rather than looking for ways to moan.'"

Please explain which 'facts' you refer to!
You do realise that the more you defend the club - at all times and without question - the less your credibility appears? We ALL support this club, but that doesn't mean we can't question it or its employees, in fact I think it's right to question when we think something is wrong!

| Well let me say first I am just a supporter. Not involved in the club so don't know anything more than the evidence after the fact.....so I have no credibility to lose.
I do though have an opinion, and my opinon is that we are better now than we have been and that the people who just blindly criticise everything are damaging to the good work being done.
I'm doing this on mobile so not able to go get all the quotes, feel free to do so, but the club and Elston and Agar were being criticised for putting Mariano and Walshaw out on contracts elsewhere when it turned out we needed them later in season. This was being used as evidence of a poorly run club.
As that now seems to be rectified, in exactly the way those people were moaning couldn't be done, I wondered if the same logic would be applied to prove that it is in fact a well run club.
Of course those facts dont prove anything either way because we don't have all the facts. But I would have thought a clever fellow like yourself could see that exaggerating the conclusion in the positive shows how ridiculous doing the same the other way was.

We have only managed to get Mariano & Walshaw back by letting Mellars and Molloy go in their place, so its two in two out. If we hadn't offered them and Fev & Dewsbury agreed they wouldn't have been allowed to play for us. If you think that is running the club well good for you. For me its a cock-up that thankfully they have been lucky enough to get out of.

| I think Walshaw and Mariano have been put in the squads to show if they are worth giving a contract to? Annakin and Molloy have already been given contracts (Molloy recently signed and Annakin being awarded an contract extension which is well deserved.)

| The first step in solving a problem is to admit that there is a problem, if you cannot do that then nothing will improve. What tends to happen is that those involved close ranks, go into denial and get very defensive, whilst back in the real world the problem just continues to get worse. But when you keep driving towards the cliff edge if you don't stop in time and take a different direction you'll fall straight off the end.
Better strap yourselves in people, it could well be a bumpy ride.

You're a proper ray of sunshine, aren't you?
I know we don't have the financial clout of Man City, but do you know something deeper?

Agree but conversely those that whinge, moan, constantly criticise and believe every rumor going imo do themselves and the club just as much as a disservice as those those that believe everything's rosy.

| Looks like I'm on my own here so maybe I'm wrong but this is just a result of no A team.
If we want players outside the 17 they need to play elsewhere and if we want to stop wasting money we get someone else to pay.
If there is a problem in either form or injuries then doing a deal like this is keeping that strategy going.
I can't see why you all like the alternative of paying players just in case we might need them one day.

It should be a concern if it's true but we always tend to have a lot of rumor and half truths around the club.
As we all know though until the time comes when we're owned by a millionaire who's prepared to chuck money at the club, or we can eventually get a new stadium built and get some new investors in, this is how it will be imo.

You're not on you're own mate and I made a post that said the same yesterday about the lack of reserve team and the injuries we've had that have brought a few things to a head.

| Tbf, I think with the signing of Tuson (who is obviously not being paid peanuts) and Tautai it should dispel the idea that there's a lack of money at the club. We wouldn't be making these signings when we have a surplus of second rowers, we'd just play the youth like Walshaw/Cowling. I don't doubt we've got a tight budget but that doesn't mean the club has any financial difficulties. It's all wild speculation but if you think about these signings and the special offers on for the London game, they wouldn't be happening if the club needed cash desperately. Chill out.

Agree. We've seen the club completely skint before and what we had to do, always going to be juggling act for us atm though.

Thats a very naive way of thinking.
Think back a couple of years. A club had just signed such overseas luminaries as Shane Tronc, Daryll Millard and Ben Jeffries on healthy contracts. Midway through that season they brought in further players such as Julien Rinaldi and Charlie Leano. This is despite publicy having cash flow issues the previous close season which lead to a little problem with the HMRC that was swept under the carpet quickly (sound familiar?). Anyway just a few months later that club went into administration despite receiving a £165,000 boost from a generous benefactor and very nearly disappeared forever.
Any ideas who that club was? And for a bonus, who was its chief executive?
A little piece of history repeating? Lets hope not, all the rumours are false and the clubs owings all get paid PDQ. But don't ever think that because a club gets new staff it is doing fine, it means nothing.
For instance bob down to Thornes park and you'll see the ducks look graceful floating on the water, but underneath it is flapping like hell to appear to stay upright and moving forward. But it can't keep it up forever and eventually it runs out of energy and has to rest on dry ground otherwise it would sink. Its then eveything is exposed and all of a sudden things look a little more unstable. And thats us and I hasten gto add we are not alone. We and others have to put on a show that nothing is wrong. It doesn't mean that that is the case.

Gaskell
Foran
Ashurst
Dixon
Wild
Godwin
Mauro
James
D Williams
Fages
Sneyd
McGoldrick
McPherson

I have to say that on paper, we look far better than this 19, it's just a case of taking it to them and not inviting them into our half with penalties and too many unforced errors.
Same effort as last week with a bit of magic from Ali and Timmy, job done
