| If, IF, he has set up a move without consent - it is exactly what I would expect from Agar as a response, consistent with his treatment of others. If you are not fully comitted to the club, you can ply your trade elsewhere.
This is all supposing the story is true.

| Wakefield Express 9th May 2013 - " Kyle Wood stepped in to plug the gap left by Sykes against Catalans on Saturday night and although admitting losing Sykes is a blow, Agar is confident his squad can deal with the loss.
“Woody has been sat patiently for a chance and I felt he did okay last week,” Agar commented.
“He came in with a couple of timely plays , had a hand in two if not three tries and I felt he played very soundly. He understands the role we want him to play off Timmy [Smith and while we lose Paul’s experience, as well as running game and kicking, judging on last week we covered it okay.
“I thought Lee [Smith kicked goals particularly well and I thought Woody, for his first game in there, has done a good job for us.”
Less than 3 weeks later and Kyle Wood has possibly left the club mid season.

| Maybe it's time for Agar to admit he was wrong to let Ellis go and re-sign him. If it's true that Wood has signed for Hudds, pride hasn't stopped them re-signing a player that they released or he moved on. If you think a player can do a job for you and he fits into your style of play, it's daft not to try and sign him. And from last year Ellis did both. Or do the club think the top eight is gone and will talk about planning for next season and giving the likes of Cowling, Walshaw and Goulding a go.

| I would welcome Ellis back but two things:
1. Would he want to come back after the way he was treated?
2. What makes you think Fev would let him go?

Fair point, but maybe it was pointed out to him that he would not be the starting hooker when Aiton recovered for the start of this season.Possibly then, the decision to leave was Ellis's. Unfortunately the coach couldn't or didn't want to see that you can play both Aiton and Ellis on the field at the same time. Possibly wouldn't want to pay a transfer fee for a player they probably gave the option to leave less than a year ago. Hopefully his contract would have a release clause in it.

I thought one of the reasons we let him go was because he was on one of the biggest contract at the club atm, £100 p/year were what was banded around.
Goulding isn't anywhere near ready for SL, played very poorly in his time at Donny.
Eve if we've got a chance for the top 8 or not, Cowling & Walshaw want to be getting game time.

| Im not sure where, or how he fits into the Giants first team. I would have thought that he would have a much better chance of playing first team with us. I cant help but think that there is more to this than a player wanting to move to further his career.....assuming of course these rumours are true.

I concur, he has had ample opportunities to impress and rarely did. I was starting to think he had something on Agar given his continued selection in the side over better players. Its a shame this meant Trinity lost a decent hooker as a result. Hopefully Wildie will get more of an sustained chance now to show whether he has a SL future.

| As long as he is ultimately replaced by a better player then he won't be missed. In the short term Matty Wildie gets a chance to prove that man is him.

As I understand it, Ellis was released and we are still paying the last two years of his contract.
Whether that means we can get him back, or if he wants to come back to play for Agar, I don't know.

I hope that is not the case it's crazy still paying for a hooker playing at another club when he is needed at Trinity to adequately support Aiton!

If the above statement is somewhere near the truth, then it's definitely time to swallow your pride and get Ellis back. With the pack we have, we need someone to get them rolling forward to give the halves a chance. If it's true that Ellis was on something like 100k a year, it doesn't make sense to be paying some or all of his wage to play for Fev. Got to weigh up what he is on, to what he will bring to the team in the second half of the season, but more importantly as what has been mentioned on a few threads on here. What impact will it have on next years season ticket sales.

As far as I know, Ellis is now a Fev player. I can't imagine we're paying them for the privilege.

"Featherstone have completed the permanent signing of Wakefield hooker Andy Ellis on a two-year deal.
Ellis, 27, spent time on loan with Rovers in 2012, making seven appearances, before being recalled by the Wildcats for their end of season run-in following an injury to Paul Aiton.
Head Coach Daryl Powell said: "Andy spent some time with us this season which gave both us and him an opportunity to see how he fits into the way we play. He is a proven player both in the Championship and Super League competitions as his last eight appearances for Wakefield showed.
"His signing gives us strength in depth in all positions, with Ben Kaye playing outstanding rugby league this year. Andy's signing gives us great options at hooker."
The former Barrow hooker, who was Championship Player of the Year in 2009, moved to Super League with Harlequins in 2010, before making the switch to Belle Vue ahead of the 2011 season."
He said: "I'm happy to be joining Featherstone Rovers on a permanent basis. It's a great team with great lads and fantastic supporters. I look forward to working with everyone next year and hope I can contribute to another fantastic year. Good luck to everyone this coming weekend in the Grand Final, It's a well deserved end to an awesome season and lets hope we retain our title!"

| He'll be a Fev player but he will of had either a lump sum pay off or we will be paying the balance of his wage for the remainder of the time his contract would have had to run. He wouldn't have left for much of a pay cut but we still make a saving.
