| Just thought i'd comment as I actually agree with Vasty on this, very rare for me to do that so I thought I better post it as proof in case I doubt myself later on!

yes of course he could "play prop" but he would be ineffective in the prop role, as would several other names that people could pull out of a hat.
I'd rather someone a bit more seasoned like Aiton to play at prop, which just goes to show how ridiculous i consider the suggestion of Trout playing prop.

| Quote ="PopTart"Seriously though Trout? Am I thinking of the wrong guy?
Young kid who played second row last year.
I really would champion his casue as I thought a lot of him but he should not be considered at prop.
Mariano, Ali and even Kirmond would be in the front row before him. He is great at his position. Lets leave him there.'"
I don't think anyone is suggesting he is SL prop material at this moment, though he was a prop as a junior. However for a couple of games he could probably manage it though it would take it's toll if prolonged.
Remember, Nigel Bell ended his career as a prop and he started as a S/H o no players position is set in stone.

obviously i agree with this and if KT becomes half the player Nigel was then we will all be happy. However the game has moved on significantly since then and i don't think you would see Nigel playing prop in the current game.

Get off your high horse.
Trout was a prop, can play prop but probably won't end up as one. Kyle Trout (born 1 March 1991 (age 21)) is a professional rugby league footballer, playing at club level for Stanley Rangers ARLFC, and Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, as a Prop, or Loose forward/Lock. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyle_Trout
If you're going to dismiss a player NGB4C style at least do your homework and bese your opinion on fact. I agree Trout will not be big enough to make Prop his career position, but for a game or two he's way more qualified than Kirmond who has never played prop or some of the other "ridiculous" suggestions
The suggestion is not that he should be a prop, it's the more subtle suggestion that he can cover a short term injury in that position - the same way Nigel Bell and others used to do and he as I've already stated was a S/H to start with.

I base my opinion on watching Kyle play, not some extract from a wiki page.
I've not dismissed anyone, i just don't think Kyle should be first in line as a replacement prop and please don't compare my posts to that of NGB4C, its pretty insulting.

Fair enough on the last bit.
As I clearly state he is not a long or even medium term solution IMHO but he could cover where need, he has the knowledge and he's a tough kid.

| Is this how bad it has got??
We are talking about a young lad playing in a certain position (that he has played before!) for a couple of friendlies that mean jack. If he was starting there come week 1 of the season and there was sign of it changing, then yes, we may have a problem but we are talking about a boxing day friendly against Leeds reserves!!
Roll on the start of the season

Get off your high horse. Trout didn't impress me last year, not 1 game. Walshaw however did and is far too slow to be a centre Agar used him at 2nd row towards the back end of the season. You know and most people on here do I am correct 99.9 % of the time. Just dont accept cos i am not the in crowd.

| Trout did impress me last year.
And I'm thinking he played more than Walshaw when both were available so I guess Agar sees something in him too.
In fact I checked the facts:
Trout
Played 11
Tries 2
Av Gain 61
Metres 318
Tackle Busts 4
Errors 1
Missed tackles 8
Tackles 151
Av tackles per game 13.7
Walshaw
Played 7
Tries 0
Av Gain 41
Carries 29
Metres 180
Busts 0
Errors 1
Missed Tackles 7
Tackles 85
Tackles per game 12.1
I like them both but the stats don't back Walshaw over Trout

| Why are we bagging Trout ?
Whilst he is clearly not the biggest forward we have ever had, the lad showed up very well last season and certainly didn't let himself or the team down.
I think we need some games to talk about or "best Xmas cracker jokes", anything would be preferable to needles cr@p.

| Back to Olly Wilkes injury & Amor's operation. It better that it happened now in pre-season as it highlights the front row weakness that R.A. is working on to address and I'm confident that he'll do it.
As stated the Xmas game against Leeds means nothing apart from local pride to get one over them for the play off defeat.
Ali & Dickens could cover the prop position from the bench with Raleigh & Poore starting on the front row. This would help R.A. to have a good look at Trout & Walshaw in their natural second row positions playing at some stage during the game alongside Kirmond.

I know wishful thinking that he'd come out of retirement for a one off match. It'd definately create some interest & publicity in the press for WTW if it was possible!
There are still 3 weeks to the match so there could also be another addition to the squad as well by then.

More faces than the town hall clock. Last year you couldn't get it through your head that Walshaw was a S/R and you kept banging on about us playing him at centre - now according to you he's far too slow to be a centre. Jeez do you just make it up as you go along.
Walshaw is more than fast enough without having blistering pace to be a centre, if you'd ever watched him play you'd know that. However most people feel his real future is as a forward. Agar really only used him once as a S/R and by common consent he struggle. However when at centre he impressed everyone except you
Funniest thing of all is that Walshaw was at Doncaster at the back end of the season, maybe you were following the wrong team last season!
You missed a decimal point, you are right about 9.9% of the time and approximately 9.9% of posters agree with you.
Who is this crowd by the way.

Apart from one poster (who should generally be ignored anyway), who has bagged trout?
I agree with what you say in the rest of your post btw

| The point of the Leeds game is really just a tune up game and to see how the things they are working on in pre season work on the field against real opposition.
With that in mind I wouldn't play anyone at prop from the first 17+ who are likely to feature in the early part of the season. Agar will want to play them in their real position to see how they go.
I'd play the two start up props as long for as they can stand and play a kid in the later stages who actually plays prop. It won't be a terrible game for them to start and Leeds will be doing the same.
I reckon Poore and Raleigh will appreciate the extra minutes anyway

Ah yes, I remember the 0.01%, when you blamed Washbrook for single handily losing us the play-off game.

The main point of the Leeds game is a decent off season pay day.
