I think it is self explanatory really? His head was shot, he was 'gone'. The abuse he got from the sideline today was disgusting throughout the game. I think anyone would be a tad upset and not in the right place after that. That coupled with his mental illness and you a risking him going off the rails again.

| It wasn't that's why I asked, I wasn't aware he had received any until his substitution.
It was certainly no justification for him to blank Morro, and ultimately the decision was then made quite rightly to sub him.
Up until that incedent I thought he had played ok, and he and the team were let down by Johns inability to take on the line, personally I would drop the pair of them for next week and Collis.

Not in your mind but like I said, knowing his condition, he was not on this 'planet'. You have to know the illness before you make statements like that.

Wasn't sure why Alli was starting before he got injured but for him to come back from injury and still start I find very strange. Why would you start somebody who has been an impact player throughout his career.

| Smith wasn't great butche was the best of the three half backs today. John is ineffective and Wood was the worst of the lot. Its go forward we need and our pack is not up to the job. Without that any half back in the world would struggle. Anybody putting all the blame at Smiths door is quite frankly clueless.

| Quote ="asmadasa"eusa_clap.gif Whatever any forum members say WTW won't get anybody with a better pedigree than Tim Smith. He has proven NRL quality and experience but like others say he is under pressure due to a pack not going consistently forward or winning the collision.
THE ONLY WAY WE WILL GET THE BEST OUT OF OUR PLAYERS IS TO SUPPORT THEM FULLY NOT PULL THEM APART. ITS A CONFIDENCE GAME & SMITH HAS SHOWN SOME REAL QUALITY AT TIMES DURING THE SEASON. HE NEEDS TO KNOW THAT HE IS BE WILLED ONTO PRODUCE INSPIRATION TO A STRUGGLING TEAM. TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER.....'"
I may be in the minority but I for one hope we keep him next year and give a good pack to work with. All the ones who booed him today should hang their heads this is a complete no no and does not help at all especially when the whole team were pretty poor against a wire team missing a few first team players.

| Smith has been consistently average/poor all season, this is why people are getting frustrated when every other team in SL has a player in the halves that take the line on, create problems/half decent kicking game. I fear Smiths's fate is sealed at the end of the season and rightly so. Bring back Tommy Lee all is forgiven.......... Errr maybe not.

| Don't want to see us without Smith against Cas but I don't think either of John or Wood would be missed.
Collis runs hot and cold but still offers a lot more than Mellars.
Get Wildie and Walshaw back in.

| Dont agree with all this support the players no matter what tosh. If they cant handle disquiet from supporters then I worry about their mental toughness. By the way I am currently training a pup that at the moment is wazzing all over a variety of carpets in my house. I guess I am supposed to stand back and applaud him warmly before tickling his tummy and giving him a chocolate drop. I was thinking of berrating him in a direct manner and letting him know that he needs to change his behaviour - I assume that this would be cruel and effect him mentaly leading to a terrible life and subsequent suicide.

Fair enough...I hope the next time you get a little bit of criticism you don't slit your wrists! Stupid comment! Fair enough, I don't expect him to be wrapped up in cotton wool and sing him a bedroom story to show how much we love him but he is far from the worst player on the field. I have attended Belle Vue for many years and that is the only time I have heard fans cheer and jeer a sub player in such a sarcastic manner. It is counter productive- simple as.

You could argue you that he is the wrong job. The reason why he went off the rails before was due to the tabloid pressure, criticism and expectation. The sad thing is that it would be the biggest waste of a player I could recall.

Her famous catchphrase of "sit" is just one syllable away from how i would describe Tim Smiths performances this year! For all those who talk about his quality and previous NRL experience I would suggest this has tainted your reality of his performances in a Wakefield shirt. Couldnt carry Danny Broughs jock strap in my opinion.

| WE need some grunt up front in the forwards, our halves cannot possibly be expected to perform when the platform is not laid for them. Wire had loads of go forward today, Carvel made at least 10 meters every drive with some offloads as did Woods and Hill between them we are too light and will need to invest in a couple of big lads up front the rest I would be happy with. I feel sory for raleigh and Southern they have no chance if they are are our go forward.
On another note why do we cough the ball up so much it killed us today.

Funny you should mention Tommy Lee, a player from last season's squad.
As I walked away from the game today, thoroughly fed up with losing yet another game that was there for the taking, I couldn't help but think how I'm not enjoying this season one bit and how I enjoyed last season 100%, no 1000% percent more. Many fans say that last season was our worst ever in Super League but was it really? Last season we had a team thrown together from kids and cast offs but with Morrison as captain and Kear as coach, we put in some half decent performances and picked up a few good wins along the way. I never went to one game last season expecting to win and when we did win it was a great feeling. The comeback at Wheldon Road and the last win at home to Bradford avoiding the bottom place were stand out games for me. I've not felt anything like I did at those games this season and probably won't.
The frustrating thing about this season is that we've got the players, we just aren't getting the performances. Even our wins against Catalans and Salford were nervy wins in the end in all honesty. Another 10 more minutes on the clock and we'd have lost both. There is only the Widnes game this season where we have been comfortable winners.
At 12-12 today, we looked like we were competing with (an albeit weakened (No Briers, Myler, Monaghan x2, Morley, Bridge) Warrington side and looked like we could win if we held our nerve. Even at 12-18 down, Marriano made a break but bombed the chance that would have seen us level again. To leave the ground 12-42 losers was shocking, embarrassing and not acceptable.
Some of the players on the field today have got twice the ability of last season's players but nowhere near the amount of grit and determination. I'm hating this season and can't wait for next season already. Fans should not be made to feel like this.

I dont buy that. If he did go off the rails it was down to a lack of mental strength. I sincerely hope that he has developed this in subsequent months/years. Smith is not the only person in the world who will have been criticised for his performance sporting or otherwise. If he cant cope with that then he is in the wrong environment.

| I think some fans need to stop making Tim the scapegoat and start looking at the bigger picture, I am not saying Tim is playing well but how can he pull the plays off move the team around the park when his pack are getting bullied and are it going forward? We could have the best half backs in the world playing for us but the bottom line is if your pack is not going forward and dominating then your not going to get the room space and time to put on the plays and for Tim to do his job, he is having to do everything John is not helping him one bit! Before anyone thinks am Tim smiths defence Lawyer Am really not just think fans need to be looking at other players before making Tim smith the scapegoat

I dont really understand your point. Are you saying that because Tim Smith is bi polar he should not have his poor performance addressed ? The point about him showing a complete lack of respect to the coach (Morrisson)who was trying to address him on the field is that a bi polar behaviour ? Are you sure its not just the conduct of an ignorant individual that is not a team player ?
Finaly you claimed that because of his condition during the game he was "not on this planet" - Is that good for the team or indeed himself?
