Definate sway in balance in favour of 2nd rowers to props in the squad. I dont buy this Wilkes is a 2nd rower stuff. He has been a Super League prop for 5 years now.
That said, we still only have 3 out and out props in the squad, which makes you wonder why we got Kirmond and Raleigh from the Giants when we did. Strange as it may sound as they have been 2 of our more consistent players, when we had the players we had already signed on, could the money have been spent better elsewhere??

As you say the Huddersfield lot have been consistant performers this season, obviously rated higher than what was currently at Wakey by Agar. So im guessing in his opinion it wouldn't have been better spent elsewhere. Maybe he was hoping the Mariano's, Johnson's and James's would have all stepped up and performed to last years standards, which by all accounts they haven't (I wasnt watching WTW last year so can't form an opinion on this).

Johnson is about the same, Marriano has been all injuries this year - James wasn't with us last year. However get your point.

I dont disagree with them being rated higher, i was mainly pointing out that the balance wasnt/isnt right so was there a real need for 2 extra second rowers. Im all for getting good players in when they become available but the balance has to be there. Obviously RA's hands were tied a little what with the signings we had already made but for me 1 of either Kirmond or Raleigh and another prop (if available) would have given our pack a better look about it.

I don't buy that at all, IMO Agar was always nailed on as the new coach, it was all mooted very early, he was just playing hard ball with Hull for a pay off.
Him and Jimmy are mates, so I think all the signings were made with his approval, but one thing that we all need to remember is that this seasons squad is a stepping stone to next seasons, and that to the seasons after that.
The big picture and where we are in a couple to three seasons is what actually matters, some of this seasons squad won't make next seasons, some will shine and out of this squad we will form a bedrock of the future teams, something to be fair to Agar didn't have the fortune of having when he "took over".
I think the reality is they are all Agar signings for one reason or another.

Don't agree with that at all, otherwise we wouldn't of gone through a interview process and been actively seeking other Coaches and I don't buy for one second it was all a sham just for effect, so Jimmy could get his 'mate' in, bit too conspiracy theorist for me. Personally just think at that time he was the best of the lot, which may speak volumes.

I thought this at the time of the announcement that he was taking over but then his refusal to play some, the rumours of him trying to offload a couple and the signing of others suggested to me maybe not!

At a pre season pre Agar appointment
Jimmy was asked specifically if Ricard Agar was to be the coach
The reply given and I quote " he has not applied so won't be considered "
There was a noticeable sigh of relief round the room
Guess what, less than 2 weeks later Agar is signed on a long contract
You may think I'm anti Jimmy your right I am, a lot of Jimmies actions remind me of the dark days of Ted' s regime Jimmy being one of the leading elements of the period.

Wrong. The only Agar signings are the ones he actually made. He had no say in the signings made before he got the job.

Correct as I've stated on here several times. There's no point though as people don't seem to like facts, especially not when they don't tally up with their conspiracy theories.

I was there and I recall what you have quoted, that doesn't mean there wasn't a done deal IMO.
I would take you up on the whole Ted thing though, I know through others closely involved at the time, he and others were dissatisfied with Teds running of the club and it's impact on their jobs.

How about Keegan Hirst at Batley? He's still a young bloke, is massive and appears to be a reet nasty piece of work.

Not a quick fix, but it would be interesting to see how he developed in a full time environment.
