There was a lot of encouraging signs and when the ground firms up and with a few more games under our belt we will be competative this year.
I feel we have a lot of skill out wide in collis, fox, cockayne and mellars my only reservation is Isaac he seems very meek and has not taken on the opposition line but again with time maybe we will see more from him.
Tim smiths passing game is first class and his organisation is there would like a little more support from washbrook and Isaac. I am very impressed by Aiton he looks like he will be a standout this season and with Wood looking lively when we get quick play the balls we look dangerous.
Our kicking game does need to improve and a little bit more composure at the right times then we will hopefully be treated to some entertaining rugbythis season.

We made a ton of half breaks but couldn't quite push on in the mud. I thought Smith was actually dangerous but he was a like a new born foal trying to run at times.

At the end of the day the mud and puddles were the thorn in our side.

Most people said it before the start of the 1st game and watching today it was clear that some of the pivotal positions didn't quite click, especially in the second half and it was a reminder that things will take time and we're a new side. Saying that the game as there for the taking with a little more composure and one or two correct decisions from the lads. Epic defense from HKR in the second half and deserved the win, still happy enough with the overall display and there were some stand out performances from a few of the guys.

I would not call 22 - 10 a narrow win.

Fair dos to Rovers. They deserved it. Especially playing so long without Dobson. They stepped up a gear 2nd half with the man in the bin. I did feel the very muddy conditions would favour the more powerful team and so it proved. We can be proud of our effort but lacked penetration and organisation near the line. Found it strange that Andy Raleigh wasn't put on when we had those repeat sets. He was our best go-forward man whenever he was around. Ben Cockayne MOM for me. Still plenty of positives despite things not really running for us and I think we'll do better on drier surfaces. Finally, an excellent gate with a special mention to the KR fans who applauded Cockayne and Fox very sportingly before the game

What would you call it then, it certainly felt like a narrow win for HKR simply because it was a close match right to the end.

Picked our own pockets today, we had more than enough ball, took either the wrong option, made a mistake etc.
Credit KRs defence it was outstanding, and ours was caught napping following long periods of attack.
Fair result, great attendance and keep the faith, KR were 100 times better than widnes last week and for long periods were the better side.
One point for Agar, move Aiton to 13, play Ellis and Wood at hooker and spell Ali from the bench.
Oh and another Isaac John needs to start imposing himself a bit more, two games down and I am not hugely impressed, not scapegoat material though!!!

Rumour doing the rounds about Dobson and a broken collar bone, hope its not true.

We were our own worst enemy today because we threw away many opportunities to score points. In conditions like today it was never going to be a spectacle and I thought we more than matched KR but the lack of ideas in their 20/30m area was very frustrating.

I agree, made some completely bizzare decisions, the best for me was near the end when the ball was lose and clearly went forward off a Wakefield player into touch, it was against the laws of physics for it to have hit Welham (I think) and gone backwards off him. Despite being stood five metres away, he didn't see it. That's not acceptable, he has to be in the correct position.

We also got some weird calls in our favour, he looks out of his depth.

I thought you were the better side for a lot of the game, execution in our twenty and then faling asleep as we broke was your downfall.

Raleigh and Lauatiti were very good for you, Luke was annonymous and although Smith is undoubtadely a good player he tries to do a little bit too much on his own for me.

Luke?...you mean John? I agree, he has not taken or tried to taken a game by the scruff of the neck. Smith always tries something and I think by round 8-10 he will prove his worth, hopefully with John proving to be an excellent foil.

Well for me a John Kear team would have taken the game today.Now dont get me wrong thats just the conditions the game was played in and lets face it in past seasons its done us some favours.Lets face it we all knew the side needs time to come together and gel and we will with time get the small things right to take games like this.For all the 22 - 10 score line with the right rub of the green it could have been the other way round.As for the ref well he never once looked down the line at the play the ball otherwise both sides would have been hammered for offside.Well played KR look forward to the return fixture.

Fair play to Hull KR, defended really well. We just weren't clinical enough, HKR looked like a side that have been together for a while and we didn't, it will take time. Disappointed that we didn't take the match when we had numerous chances on their line, and they had a man down, that's why we lost. Scrappy game, HKR had a better pack and think the conditions hindered us more so than them. Anyone jumping on Agars back after that defeat is crazy though! We will get better. Also didn't think there seemed to be that many people at the the ground as was announced?

Good hard game on a pitch that did,nt suit either team. Why dose,nt the season start at least a month later, i,m sure the weather and pitch conditions are better in late november than mid february. As ever, a pleasant visit to belle vue.

Stood at other end of ground and i could tell we knocked it out, he is clueless and the linesman must have been asleep.

We had everything going for us in the second half; Dobson off the field, Murrell a passenger on the wing, a man up for 10 minutes and enough possession to win 2 games, but we just couldn't convert the pressure in to points. It was very frustrating at times! Credit to HKR for their defence but I feel we could and should have come away with 2 points today.
