| I think you've shown enough to indicate a top 8 challenge this season especially with so mnay new lads and new coach.
I'm surprised tat none of you have mentioned no22 Trout who i thought tackled his nadgers off and was willing with the ball just a question of a fixed position for him due mainly to his size.
Young Wood off the bench went well for yer and there's plenty of potential even before you add Big Ali and the other missing lads.

| fwiw here is my summary....
i was quite impressed with smith early on, but he faded into oblivion after 30mins. isaac had a couple of nice touches but did not get involved enough (or just didn't get the ball)
collis & mellars seemed ok and after a quiet 1st half cockayne was pretty good in the second half
mathers was mathers, he tried hard and did get involved. he will become an asset for us.
wood was ok from the bench.
i thought we went downhill when ellis and southern were taken off, and looked better when they returned. i hope this was just a blip and not a prediction for the future!!
wilkes and johnson ran the ball in well.
overall, we did try to pass the ball about, but there were still some basic problems with our defensive pattern. ok, morton had a bit of a shocker but he was left exposed on a couple of occasions, it was just like last season at times defensively.
a run out, we need time to gel and get our timing together. agar said he wasn't happy with the defensice pattern, so at least he has seen it, hopefully we can sort it.
still hate losing to leeds though

| On the positive side, I thought John was impressive early on, Collis put in some good 1st half tackles and the team as a whole was pretty solid defensively up the middle throughout the game. Good breaks from Mariano and then Walshaw were wasted. The weather was nice.
On the negative side, Morton and Wood are still little boys trying to play in a mans game. Our kick offs don't get any better whilst our kick off recieving was shocking.
Rob Burrow was the difference between the sides.

| Not bad for a first hit out.
Southern excellent, Walshaw excellent (although should have set up a try instead of going for glory), John ok, Amor & Johnson very good.
Although Cockayne had a good game, dont think he is a winger and Mathers ok going forward, but not quite as effective in defence.
For them Burrow and Richard Moore were stand outs.
I hope Gareth Moore gets a go somewhere in the friendlies, his kicking game alone is worth hm playing, both out of hand and place kicking.

As far as Wood not being good enough to lace Moore's laces, give it a rest , they are both much of a muchness, at this stage I wouldn't say either was any better than the other. Saying that I don't know if you went today but Wood played well, showed some good touches and caused a few problems, anyway what's with the constant need by you to try to put the boot in to Wood before he's played a proper game for us, there's just no need for it.

A few points
1.You are clearly a great supporter of Gareth Moore.
2.Your stats are complete b0ll0x,for starters he didnt even play for Cas in 2011,it was 2010 and the rest, well youve just made it up.
3.Clearly you are bitter that Wood appears to be infront of Moore in the pecking order.
4.Didnt Gareth Moore get released by another super league club???

| FWIW, we had kyle wood on loan for a couple of month during 2010 and he was decent. Effective off the bench, added a spark to us. A bit of a Sam Obst esk player. Don't know too much about Moore. But think Wood will make an impact for you next season.

| From our pov i thought Wood added some spark into your attack when he came on and certainly didn't look like "a boy playing a mans game" or out of his depth.
I will also say just because a player was released by another club it doesn't always mean they won't/can't improve and come back better players and worthy of SL.

Sorry, but that's cack - Millard had absolutely no power or strength, hence his utter inability to fill the void that losing Atkins created; Millard is quick, but not in any way able to carry the ball up like a battering ram, which is how JK used Atkins.
You're comparing apples and oranges.

| unfortunately the battering ram centre philosophy seems to have been used with walshaw too, hence the fact he was unable to finish off a simple two on one overlap.
sorry to say that in the skills department, yesterday showed the huge gulf that exists.

I'm not sure he had absolutely no power - he may not be a battering ram but his footwork often puts him in space to push defenders away. I don't remember ever seeing Collis play but if he's as effective as Millard I think you'll be doing well.

Harsh - that was purely down to Walshaw having a brainfart; he had options either side and didn't make the decision in time, so ended up taking the tackle.
I didn't see a gulf.

| I though Raleigh was solid for the most part. Decent yards. He faded a bit in second half but his injury may have played a part.
Was impressed by Smiths passing, he sent the ball to the right place many times some leading to breaks.
Don't think anyone let the team down but there are a few who will need to improve to get a starting spot.

| Thought smiths passing was a class above young woods, didn't get putting him into the centres. The guys an out and out 7 and that's where he needs to be playing. For those who thought wood added some spark, think I were watching a different game. Smith has to be our main scrum half.
