| Aiton is a decent player. Can play 9 or 13. Tough player, just hope his bad injuries are behind him.
Could be a good signing for us if we can keep him fit and on the park

| He's a tough cookie. One of those steady players who's not quite got that bit of class/edge to be a really good player. That said, a real team player, grafter and likes to mix it.
I think he'll go well for us.

I think there is some confusion on here between work permits and visas. The club must first obtain a work permit - which has to be supported by the RFL as having qualified as non fed trained or overseas. When this is granted then, if the club feel that it is unlikely that the visa will be issued, then the club may go public at that point - as they have done with others. The visa is then granted by the UK immigration department.
That's how I understand it - which, in Aiton's case, would suggest that we are waiting on clearance from the RFL. Don't know this, just a guess.

| I think that this confirms Agar is carrying on with his Hull trend by recruiting as many aussies / kolpac / off quota foreigners as possibly allowed and that Matty Wildie & James Davey's development will come to a shuddering halt. i hava also heard today that 2 academy players who have come through the system into the first team squad are also about to leave the club due to Agar....the bloke is a cancer to youth development.

Does it confirm it, or are you just taking a wild guess, I personally think the likes of Wildie & Davey will get there chances to impress this year along with one or 2 others but hey that's me, I'm giving the bloke a chance to see what he does.

It confirms nothing, other than that you didn't want Agar as coach.
Let's not hang the bloke out to dry before we have even seen who is going to play when. I don't want our young players held back by foreign imports but equally if they are not ready to play SL week in, week out then I don't want them to do that either as it will affect their long term prospects.
I know a few of them played regularly last year but do you honestly think they would have if we were not so desperate for players due to money restrictions??
I will be hugely disappointed if we lose our younger players but until I hear that it has actually happened then I will back and support my Club and it's coaching staff. Most people think they could do a better job, in reality there's probably one or two people who post on here that would even have a chance of lasting a month.

I wont deny that I did not want agar as coach and i stand by that 100%. The bloke has done nothing at Hull with a full salary cap and a free reign to bring in big Aussie signings year after year. Were you hoping it was him when interviews were taking place ? He stayed in the hull job as long as he did because he is Hetheringtons god son.....no other reason and the minute she went he was the first shown the door....Fact ! and why do you think that was ?

| I'm with Fordy and Shifty Cat on this one. Let Agar get on with the job and everyone will get their chance if they are good enough. Whenever there's a new signing announced some people on here seem to think it's a nail in the coffin for youth development. Now just hold on there boys, take a chill pill and see how it all pans out. I think it's great that we have plenty to post and discuss and some will be happy and others won't but give the guy a chance to build his team and we can all see what happens. No good summising now who's gonna be playing and who isn't, we'll just have to wait and see.

He probably wouldn't have been my first choice but I do know that some of the people being talked about/hoped for by some of the fans and even by the club told us in no uncertain terms that they weren't interested.
As I said before though I am willing to give him a chance, he IS our coach now and as such gets my full backing until such time as he proves himself unworthy of that.
I definitely will not slate him before we have even played a game under him, and I think he should be given sufficient chance to prove himself one way or the other. If that means I give him some leeway for the first half of the season then so be it. I'd rather that, than spend my life whining about something which may or may not happen.

| I am just relieved that after the last harrowing 18 months or so we still have a club and are in a position to sign players, improve the ground and generally look forward with optimism.
I have supported the club for over 50 years.
After the great era of the 60s its really been a time of consistant let downs.
I feel more confident than at any other time that we are on the way back.
Lets not moan about things which have not yet come to fruition and give all concerned at the club a chance.

I haven't been around quite as long as you ( ) but I totally agree with your sentiments.
Unfortunately, a couple of infrequent posters on here with what seems to be a personal agenda against RA, refuse to interpret the squad situation as anything other than a sign that he's abandoning the young players.
I can't help but wonder if they're Hull FC fans in disguise?

We must have started supporting round about the same time and I'm with you on this one, although with the last few years' history I'm not quite as confident but still feeling a lot better. Let's give both Agar and the team a chance to bed in and develop. We will be in a much better position to judge in (say) 6 months, though even then may be too soon. It looks like a team not just for this season, which in itself is a good thing.
All we want from the coming season is to be better, have a some more things to cheer about and not to have to worry so much (although that seems to go with the territory!).

| Aiton could actually help Wildie and Daveys development just by training with them. I know a few aussies that have said he's a good NRL standard hooker thats strong in defence and if he can pass a few defensive tips to them, take them under his wing etc. not to mention the job he will do for us while he is here on the pitch.

All well and good but if Paul Aiton is to also take the captaincy then he is going to be on the pitch longer than most hookers. Giving Wildie and Davy less opportunities.
Andy Ellis will also need game time.
