So Hull hope!
Think the overseas issue is a sticking point at the minute, if he'd have got himself a british passport I think the deal would have been done by now.

I saw nothing last season from Tommy Lee to warrant such lamentation. Also, if it was a choice between Obst and Lee, it would be Obst all the way.

| Not sure how Lee would have been better as hooker, I will cite two examples :
(1) His defence other than the odd "big hit" was suspect and that was playing wider out in the defensive line. Consequently, I would not have any confidence of him being able to make the required tackles down the middle of the park.
(2) His distribution in my opinion is too slow and his decision making is poor. I remember the Cas game at home, he jumped in at acting half and all he needed to do was pass it to Hickey and he would have scored, but didn't and we lost.
He certainly in my opinion isn't better than Andy Ellis who will be our main hooker and I think Wildie, Davey and Wood all offer more as second hooker than Lee, so no great loss for me.

I cite two more examples:
1) defending with space around you against faster players is not the same as defending a straight on runner with props either side of you. When he defended in the middle he was fine. Big hits especially.
2) Passing from the floor is different to running with the ball and picking a runner. If he was slow, his longer pass makes up for it. You don't catch and pass from hooker, you are firing from a standing start. It is very different....speaking from experience
and for a third, his try against Bradford at the end of season was a perfect hookers try, running on your own, and battling through heavy traffic to get the try.
I'm not saying he's God's gift, but he is better than you say imo. I'd have given him a chance, but if he doesn't fit for Agar (again) I'd rather he go. I bet Brown gets good results with him.

It wasn't players with movement and pace that were always the problem for Lee, for example it was him who wafted a loose arm at fatty widders for what proved to be the winning try against Cas at the back end of the season.
Re distribution - If he was a natural hooker as a number of people are suggesting, he would have had no problem getting that ball quickly out of acting half to the on running Hickey with the last play against Cas and we would have won the match.
A lot of people seem to have Lee down as a hooker, but wasn't he a scrum half when he was at Hull?
Either way it don't matter now as he has gone.

Got rid of the first two cos they were crap!
To be honest I think we've got the better of the deal this time round, Wood for my money is the more all round talented player. Time will tell i suppose.

raleigh and wood are crap too
kirmond is your best signing.

murphy and george will prove to be good for us i think, time will tell like you say

| Wakey recruitment has been better than Giants, I dont think anyone would argue with that. Still think Giants have a better team though. However with a few injuries, which will come, no doubt, I think Giants will be 5/6th and wakey pushing for 8/9th.

wakefields signings have struggled to hold a first team spot elsewhere thats why they have had to move on... recruiting cast offs not exactly better

| but better than what they had, therefore there recruitment has been better. if you believe Tony Tonks is better than Andy Raleigh, Lee better than Wood, some kid for the u20s better than Cockayne, George better than Fox then fair enough. Wakey should be excited for the next season. Giants have let a lot go and replaced 95% with not as good quality IMO

not hard to be better than what they had is it?
tonks might be better we dont know yet he hasnt played in super league for us and he is an out and out prop where as raleigh had to adjust and was never a prop. we know you love raleigh get over it he has gone.
what has wood done? nothing. lee has played much more super league and still only 23.
some kid? eden? whos supposed to be a hot prospect, cas were unahappy to lose him.
cockayne will prob end up in a prison cell by 2012.
your forgot to mention CHAN and MURPHY for us too

Your credibility went mate when you cited on your board that Tommy Lee has a kicking game just because he was 7th in the kicks in open play stats!

| as i said in edit 95%, chan is better than Kirmond. Eden will go the same way as mcnally. wont get a chance due to murphy and Grix infornt of him and a huge talent will be wasted for 2 years. I got over Andy being treated like a dick a long time ago, as did he, all i'll say is that repercussions of treating people the way they have has not finished yet, i'm sure.

better cover than wood was for us anyway.. not going to push lunt, robinson, brown or brough out for a first team spot, but who knows with nathan browns coaching he might improve.
we shall see hey

You maybe need to take a closer look at the signings.
With last years appearances in brackets
Andy Ellis(24)
Ollie Wilkes(25)
Vince Mellars(23)
Ben Cockayne(17)
Peter Fox(16)
Danny Washbrook(16)
Ali Lauititi(16)
Kirmond(14)
Raleigh(11)
Dean Collis(5)
Steve Southern(7)
The real two standouts for low appearances are both players with well over 100 games in the NRL
Lauititi had a season disrupted by injury yet still made the grand final 17.
